Glad you had a great time at Blue Dot. You deserved a break as you've worked so hard on your allotment. I used to have one myself when i was younger. Now I have a good sized garden and my kids have flown the nest so I grow far less . Well that was the plan, as there is always something new to try and learn. I came across your channel a couple of weeks ago and have watched quite a few. Well done indeed, to you and your Mum. Now i'll fully subscribed. You are just fantastic you'll go far. "It's chucking it down " this is a standard requirement for festivals. Meanwhile back at plot 37 the plants are wilting in the drought . You bagged some nice seed bargains in Homebase Jessie, lots of the seeds are good for years especially peas beans and carrots and it's a great way of trialling new varieties for cheap.

Hi Jessie, that smell before / during rain is just the best isn’t it! (Think it’s called petrichor?) So glad the weather broke and we got some rain! I think the spring onion and turnip bed seeding looked brilliant - I should do more of the watering the drill before and compost afterwards as we got mixed germination on a few rows of carrots this month. The cima di rappa seeding idea looked great. We don’t do much self seeding. We do have patches of club root though. The festival at Jodrell Bank looked great. Had a few mates go but I was in Bucks at a history festival! Sorry about the Manchester rain! Cheers, Andy

Hey Andy! Yeah Petrichor is one of the finest words out there isn't it! I wanted to call my hamster that when i was a kid but ended up calling her Suzuki hahah! I'm interested to see how the Cima di Rapa comes up because i know brassicas are supposed to cross pollinate like crazy but the previous accidental ones have been fab so... we'll see! Cheers!

It is so exciting to be picking tomatoes, I think it's my favourite harvesting. We always grow Tumbling Tom in tubs and they are very early and so prolific. If you like an acid tom for sauces that is your man. The skins need to be taken off via dunking in boiling water or freezing then defrosting. They make superb pasta sauce if you are not keen on the traditional sugary type. Today we picked the first Sunstripe as it had split with all the rain. A nice salad tom I think. Will have to wait for the true flavour when the weather dries up a bit. I can hardly wait fot my first Crimson Crush....nearly there, yay!@

I have tried shade cloth on it and it didn't make that great a difference. Its brilliant on the greenhouse for some reason but not so effective on the poly!

Most of the tunnel houses I have seen with it on, that it has been successful on, have sides that roll up, so maybe that is the difference. I plan on putting shade cloth over my garden this year, our summer sun burns my tomatoes.

Well, the rain was a joy after the stupid heat that knocked me out but I was bored by day 2 of torrential down pouring as both kept me from gardening.

I’ll be interested to see how the north holland blood red spring onions work out. I’ve had terrible problems with decent germination from two different seed companies over the last couple of years (not Mr Fothergill’s). It’s a shame because they’re very tasty!

So enjoyed that video. The festival footage was awesome and I bet the talks were so interesting. Not sure about time travel but interesting all the same. I love those mind bender theories. As always plenty of laugh out loud moments. Here in New Zealand its cold and damp and I have the head cold from hell. So cheers for sharing 😎👍

@@JessieatPlot37 Hi Jess, and thanks for answering 😊 I know is a plant for warm climates. But, its give you any fruits during the summer? Sorry I am asking again and again but I am trying to find out if it's worth it to grow them or not. I asked you about the mushrooms because I am interested to grow some too. I really like the idea from your video. Happy gardening. I can't wait for your next video 😊😊

The rains and then skies looked lovely after the 40 degrees temps! Loved the escapee and how dare you not share your lunch ! It’s the same with mine as I pass by with my arms full of things for dinner the chicks are appalled it’s not all for them. I’ve been do reading on seed saving and thought most brassicas quite happily cross pollinate, so it’s interesting to know you’ve had success with the cime de rapa. I’ve been understanding you need at least 200 metre distance between crops. Or do you feel yours were not in flower at the same time as other brassicas? So far I’ve only saved some arugula aka rocket which was frankly a fluke to find they never cross with anything else. The bonus being it grew nicely this year Glad you two enjoyed the festival-I should but don’t have the energy for carrying that much gear or camping in the rain any longer. 😂😂

Ah, it was bliss after all that heat Leanne! Yeah, interesting with the Cima di Rapa. I've never collected seed from brassicas for that reason but the self seeded Cima (accidental) was fantastic! Maybe it was fluke and it wont work this time but can only try!
