Always love to hear from Min Woo Lee, an unbelievable player. Future major champion for sure. One of my favourite shots ever was his 7 iron on the playoff hole at the scottish open last year, recorded it to break it down into slow motion, the noise off it was ridiculous

Old video, but... for the adult that only picked up golf a year ago, now two I hope. You can always practice, without being at the course or the range. I'm a Hogan person and 30+ years of playing/practice I still refer to the book and check my grip constantly. Courses I play, or am going to play I constantly look at the layout and form my plan of where I'm going to hit it, where am I missing lately and if I'm going to miss where am I going to stay in play? I visualize the round and take little notes so that when I hit the course I have a plan. And the advice from my old swing coach; when you're on the range and hitting it great, stay on the range. When you're hitting it like crap, go play, it will teach you to scramble. Best of luck.

Liked the Masters talk a lot! Great entertainment! Min Woo Lee is so cool. I won 2 tickets to the Wednesday practice + Par-3 contest in 2017. After lots of agony (I really couldn't go) I handed over the tickets to a friend. Image then when the day and contest was cancelled because of heavy rains...first time in 57 years..... Imagine taking that long trip, with all costs involved, being THAT close, and then get robbed of the whole thing....

I only joined at the start of last year then our club was shut down(was on a Army barracks) last week I got 36 stab points with 2 wipes, was the best I had ever played on our new course and something just clicked, the practice just stared paying off. On that guy who isn't seeing gains in the Dear Rick. I would recommend playing to handicap instead of gross score then the narritive changes from "I shot 110, I'm shit" to "I shot 5 over my handicap today", or "I shot 2 under my handicap today". The handicap system is why golf is so great imo. It makes you want to improve but also puts you on a level playing field against the people you play with. It's also a way of the weaker player winning the honour off the tee from the better players in a group. Going last everytime can suck, especially if you've got someone behind you who is putting pressure on you to speed up play.

With me and my buddies, we always play stroke play. The only time we don't is when we're playing with both high and low handicap players and can balance teams evenly. Occasionally match play, scramble, shamble, etc. It does make it fun to switch it up every now and then though! Love the podcast guys, keep up the great content!

The guy who wrote in unhappy about not improving but spending time on lessons and the range- he said he’s only getting on the course once a month. So he might be learning to hit a golf ball but he’s not learning to ‘play golf’ and getting in the course. It’s so easy to hit the ball at the range- perfect lies, squares mats for set up and you don’t get punished for an offline shot so you get a false sense of how good you are. That’s all before even mentioning chipping, putting, bunker shots, side hill, up and down hill, hitting from the rough. Get on the course and learn to get it around, not just hitting balls on the range.
@stompingpeak2043
@stompingpeak2043 2 жыл бұрын
If you can't go out much just get some practice balls and hit them around your yard(or someone else's yard with hills and stuff). So you get used to hitting from the rough/weird hills by doing this and you know how far you hit each club from the range time. Then when you go golfing you know how to hit each shot and know what club to use. Practice balls are like the best thing in the world for me to get better

At my old club in South Africa, we’d play a monthly medal, a stableford, an individual bogey and a betterball stableford and in a 5 weekend month, we’d play an alliance. Half of the individual bogey comps were bonus bogey so you could get a +2 on a hole with a stroke. Kept it interesting
