EP13 | ⛵ Sailing Through the Knysna Heads | Sailing Pluto

Entering the Knysna Lagoon through the Knysna Heads need planning and the perfect conditions. We motor sail through having left Cape Town two days earlier.
For any yachts planning on visiting Knysna Lagoon, the LOCAL NSRI STATION 12 WILL GLADLY SUPPLY VISITING YACHTS WITH REAL TIME INFORMATION. CONTACT THEM ON 044 384 0211 OR CELL PHONE [phone]
There is no radio base station in operation. Local yachts use VHF Channel 10 for communication. IF IN OPERATION, THE YACHT CLUB WILL HAPPILY ASSIST YOU.

We are planning to live and explore the Indian Ocean from our sailboat. We did a refit of a TOSCA 36 and left Cape Town in October 2018. A large part of sailing is learning how to be adaptable and change plans - our biggest being our failed engine as we were making our way from Knysna to Port Elizabeth. So, Easy Peasy hey. We were lucky to arrive early morning and the tide was spot on to do our entry right away. Entered into the marina with the bridge opened and being a St Francis cat had millimetres on each side to spare. For a moment there I thought you were going to video in portrait and 'Gilled.... Ag Nee!' Nice restaurant but 'Vrek Duur'

Yes Wayne. It was comfy and straight forward - which we did not complain about. The idea is to stay in Knynsa until cyclone season passes and allow a passage to Madagascar. Around May'ish. Will share some local adventures over the next few weeks

In the perfect conditions, it is very doable. A breeze. Worth it. Problem is you might never leave (we stayed over a year!)
