I’ve grown those tromboncino for quite a few years in the polytunnel. I’ve never had those pits or marks on them, it might be that they were pecked? The ones we grew stored successfully for the whole winter and we ate the last one in July the following year and then replanted the seeds, we were able,to,do this because they were grown under cover so no,cross pollination. The seeds were incredibly robust and grew really,well each year. Love all your content Jessie, keeps me going while I wait for hip and knee surgery ❤❤❤

Tidy away stuff for winter, dug up my dahlias in the back garden. Still have osteospermum to put away and take cuttings, my gingers and canna lilies. Hey Jessie, if you want to have a succesful harvest of anthing in the alium family, use a rotation of 7 years! Also when you plant onions, it's better to plant them not to deep, just leave the tip stick out a little bit. You could also use onion seed, for me that always works great, i usualy have a mix of plant onions and onions from seed. Last season i did have some (i guess you call it white rott?) in my plant onions but the ones grown from seeds didn't have that problem. Love your vlogs keep doing what you do.. 🙂

Thanks for testing and i will not bother with cooking them and roast them straight away 😀 I love Lil, she is so sociable. Now i wish we had a cat at the allotment ; I would never be alone. She would have a lot to eat (voles) and i would have no suprise parsnips ( thats when you see the top end of the parsnip thinking its hudge and when you dig them out its all just a facade since its eaten). Lovely to see you both again. Love from Belgium

I think Tromboncino looks far more impressive than the taste. I'm not sure what it's nutritional value is but I ended up using it to bulk out a spiced carrot and coriander soup. That was yummy but most of the credit was due to the spice, carrot and coriander. I also used it instead of potato in a homity pie adding lot's of leeks and garlic with a generous sprinkling of extra mature cheddar, that was pretty good. I'm thinking that it is a bulk ingredient that stores really well, like almost a year. It would be interesting to know it's nutritional value in comparison to potatoes.

hahaha, yeah. I really liked them as young fruit but fancied trying them big too. Not sure i will again! I think using it instead of potato in things is a great idea.

thinking about your lighting issue with your camera, it might be quite easy and relatively cheap to build a basic LED circuit. some of the LED's you can get nowadays are super bright and I think they say 15000 kelvins is equivalent to daylight (might be wrong). failing that sometimes it might be worth looking at the low lux levels of the cameras (certain cameras film amazingly well in darker settings and you don't have to spend a fortune). got to love (and sometimes hate) tech these days, just wish I had the knowledge kids had these days, would love to have a go at building something like that for growing things. p.s. as regards to Lumen levels which as far as I can recall is brightness, not 100% sure what LEDS would be best, just love reading up about building grow light arrays. love the content, can't wait to see the next episode!
@JessieatPlot37 Жыл бұрын
Hey Rob. Yaeh, i've been looking into it. I do have 'daylight' bulbs in the kitchen but they just aren't bright enough for the camera so yeah... might by some cheap extra lights. Unfortunately i film everything on my phone and it has limited capability on that front!
