So this doesn't make sense, 70% of people who have cardiac interventions have normal to low LDL. Studies are showing after age 70 LDL could actually be protective especially to the brain.

That’s because cholesterol isn’t the bad guy. Chronic High insulin that causes arterial inflammation and the lesions. Without high insulin cholesterol just transports food for the cells and brain. Your brain needs that cholesterol. Without it you develop dementia and Alzheimer’s. But that’s what big pharma and the doctors paid off by them want. No money in a healthy patient.

What confuses me is that my LDL dropped from 120 to 81 when I eliminated eggs and meat. Yet my HDL also dropped from 66 to 41, and trigs shot up from 77 to 145! LDL particle number was already high, and ROSE despite LDL dropping. It just makes no sense. Glad to hear that particle size isn't as important, still I'm confused by the particle number going up. I'm going to try reducing fruits and increasing non saturated fats and re-test.

low carb (no sugar, no grains, no fruits) can drop trigylcerides dramatically....this is happening to me. My trig - 41mg/dl , ldl -96mg/dl, HDL - 69 after low carbing....

There are many researches that clearly show high LDL-C level is good for overall health. In fact lower LDL level, increases the all cause mortality. Just lookup "Association between low density lipoprotein cholesterol and all-cause mortality: results from the NHANES 1999-2014". They reviewed more than 19000 cases over a 15 year period. Check figure 2 and seems like the optimum LDL-C level when it comes to all cause mortality is somewhere between 120 to 220. That's not the only thing. If you check the article references you will find a lot of other researches that all show that LDL is not really the bad player. Keep that in mind CAD is not the only thing that kills people. Bottom line is that with all respect Dr. Karen Costner is full of shit.

So NMR lipid profile is unecessary and likely driven by profit opportunity? Isn't there a profit opportunity when prescribing statins based on ldl-c only? Just saying
@g.e.b.81592 жыл бұрын
You can improve your life expectancy with statins by only 1 per cent and possibly be crippled with very serious side effects. So much for the efficacy of statins! The doctor being interviewed didn't even mention this.

@@g.e.b.8159 I agree 100%.....Lipitor states only a 1% risk reduction....and they try to say that the benefit outweighs all the debilitating side effects....And there is a long list of serious side effects that Doctors even dismiss as being caused by the statin drugs.....That is unacceptable..

So this man says that all ldl particles are bad but if a person is lean and very low triglycerides and high Hdl I've understood this to mean that ldl particles aren't bad or good depending on the "passengers" on those particles. Isn't there ldl a and ldl b? Is this wrong? Also, don't people who are very fit and eat a low carbohydrate diet show much higher ldl levels and aren't they healthy because they tend to have very low triglycerides and high Hdl levels?

Good point. Something important is missing here.

So...never mind what other numerous studies say....just take a statin. No thanks.

Exactly. This is ridiculous. My cardiologist was an interventional cardiologist for over 25 years and he noted that he operated on folks with high LDL and low LDL. Everyone is on a statin and heart disease certainly isn’t going down. Bad video
