One thing if you have trouble but still have enough fuel, camp far enough out of town and far enough of the tracks not to be noticed. Love the episodes of the Great Central Hwy Brings back memories !

Yeh the whole thing got me thinking surely people camp out here without problems so it can be done. I agree with you the trick is to go unnoticed. Wrapped you're enjoying the vids and they bring back good times.

Constable Kylie, what an awesome effort, well done. Am planning on doing the same trip soon, been before twice in a car, once with a caravan, but will always carry a tent and sleeping bag on the bike to avoid just this sort of situation. Back in the 1950's when my father, an immigrant, worked on the Snowy River project, he broke down whilst commuting back to our home near Sydney. The local police Sgt loaned him ten pounds (about a weeks pay back then) to fix the car and get home. Considering back then there was no way of confirming a persons identity etc this was a big thing, and my father rewarded his kindness appropriately.

Wow the Policeman helped out with the equivalent of a weeks wages to get your dad going again that is incredibly impressive and humbling as well. I was happy to read your dad rewarded his help too cus that is equally important as well. l love hearing stuff like that and when Kylie helped out regarding accom I was very grateful but when she gave me dinner I was very humbled. I now have to agree with you to carry a tent as back up as even with my detailed planning of the trip there still were 2 occasions I had no accom. I chose pub accom primarily to be well rested every night due to the huge distance and also long duration of the trip, it proves that no matter the planning things happen and catch you out. At the end of the day it is a story to tell with a great outcome. Thanks for watching.

Well done Kylie. Bucking some of the stereotypes we develop about people and communities. For every, very ordinary person (Roadhouse Manager that's you), there's a Kylie in the world:)

I would have been in a real pickle if it wasn’t for Kylie and the most grateful thing from all of this is what you wrote, bucking the stereotype was the best take away from this.

Yeh maybe my city life mentality was overthinking it and I wonder if the awesome people who live in the Outback ever watch this video and think it's not as bad as it was in my head. Anyways it all worked out in the end and it's also a good story to tell bout the great people who live out there.

KZbin seems to be constantly suggesting Australian motorcycle content to me. I'm getting the feeling it's in my future to fly around the world and attempt a similar trip to yours. This latest episode fills me with confidence that there are good decent people still knocking around. Time to look at finances and life in general to decide if I fly over or better still ride over. Great videos and I look forward to the next episode.

You would love it here.... however you need to be wary of the seasons... that's due to the Northern Wet Season, the stifling heat and it can be bitterly cold. There's a few good aussie riders uploading content: Joe Ryan, _JoshJB_, The Apprentice Adventurer and of course Moto Passport (just to name a few).

Where in the world has my vid found you?. Well I hope you get to ride down under an endless playground for adventure motorcyclists. I'm glad my vid showed you there are good people out there and you'll love the bloke I meet & feature in the next episode who lives by that exact saying. Thanks heaps for watching.

Thx for uploading it, bummer it happened but its now on the YT for others to take note of. Very strange of the manager to carry on like that out there, maybe some other personal issue going on and they just needed their own space but still pretty strange, anyway so glad it turned into a +ve

Yeh I was really stumped and didn't know what to do. I work in aviation obviously a 24/7 operation and mishaps and things go wrong all the time and you hit the nail on the head its what you do. Who knows maybe he had something serious going on I don't know but just so relieved Kylie helped out and bonus with dinner too.

Not all heroes wear capes.... sometimes they're in a blue uniform and have handcuffs (for very unkinky purposes lol). I wonder what the story was with the Roadhouse manager... maybe had a bad day dealing with the locals or something... You mentioned you still had one bar of 3G reception... I hear Telstra will be shutting that down in a year or so.... just hopefully they have sufficient 4G towers to cover those areas.... Another great little episode... and will have to make a mental note of taking enough fuel with me if I ever ride that way so I don't have to stop (and to avoid the opal fuel too...).
@MotoPassport

Yeh it proves there are people out there that will help you out no worries. As for the Roadhouse Mgr I was thinking about it as I left Warakurna the next day and like you said maybe he had a bad day, probs a good chance he works 7 days a week so needed a break thou I'm not sure. In the end I was so relieved I had a place to stay and if anything it turned out to be a feel good experience thanks to Kylie. I was worried about opal fuel as well but turns out my Aprilia was fine, no extra heat, no odd noises just less milage.

I guess you had to be there to understand what the problem was with “old mate”. Can’t fathom what he was thinking to not only not help a stranded person but there was also money to be made with accommodation. Marvellous assistance from Kylie though.

As soon as I had a key to a room thanks to the amazing help from Kylie my worries disappeared and then a home cooked meal turned this whole thing into a dare I say it a feel good experience. Yeh not sure what old mate was thinking I was more than happy to pay a call out fee maybe he had a bad day either way turned out to be a great story to tell.

Re the Roadhouse manager, I've never understood why people get into customer service roles and then don't wan't to actually err, serve customers. The changing time zones can be trap, glad it all worked out in end.

Yeh that's a great idea to donate something to the local footy team or policeman's ball, I've always donated to the RFDS thou as you said if a local helps you out then help them back, great tip!. In episode 17 a local came up to say G'day and he pronounced it Lay-ver-ton I only realised this when I was editing the video so my bad at least I know for next time.
