I did the same thing to a pair of horribly designed sports shorts my husband owned. When a neighbor laughed at his 'style' I secretly hid them in the big black bag, and out he took it, never to be found again. Good Job Susie

@@user-Chris-91754 we will just fill bits that need doing, we don't have the budget for a plasterer and not worried about it being too smooth if we're going to paint it, we can always line it if we paper, it has character like the ancient kitchen 😂 Thank you for watching ☺️

Yes, plastering is expensive. Don’t think you have to get every last bit of paint off, just remove the loose bits and then get an electric sander on it 👍

I’m wondering if you could get away with revealing just the lintel above the door, since the side was damaged because of the channeling. That would still showcase the old stones of the building and add into the reveals you did around the windows and fireplace. How are you at plastering, Rols? A nice skim coat over the walls would neaten them up nicely! ❤️😊

White vinegar is an excellent cleaner. It will get rid of the glue on the walls especially mixed with a bit of bi carb

If you have glue on walls you bbn cannuse hot water and fabric softener and spray bottle or syeamer. Reactivates the glue and smells nice to bbn get that off. Great work

My husband sadly is now retired but I would find it difficult to do anything like that because he rummages through the rubbish to ensure that no recycling is in there by mistake. I used to be able to chuck away a few things when he was working because he was off before the bin men collected.

Nice way to roll in an intro for your new subscribers. 👍♥️ 😭 - the granite doorway. I’m sure you two will find a solution that looks good. Glad you found a means of removing that paint, but wow, that’s going to take time. Good luck! Great job on the princess and the pea bed. 👍♥️ Another option would be to add veneer by creating a decorative shape a bit bigger than the missing bit. But I’m sure that whatever solution you choose will look lovely. 👍 I had to chuckle at the dissolution of the shorts. 😁 Heh, I get to make my own choices on that topic, but I am also willing and able to repair things. (I’d buy replacements, but it’s really, really hard to find latex-free clothes these days. So it’s repair existing, or make new from scratch… so it depends on how they’ll be used. No sense in trashing brand new bespoke clothing. 😉)

Rols, love that beautiful old bed, if you could get the veneer off in one piece you could use it as a template to cut a new piece then glue back in place. On one of the other you tube sights I watch one of the owners was using sheet veneer that was already prepared like wallpaper ( pre-pasted), it looked really nice you might look into that product. If you found someone good at trompe l'oie painting you could fill the cut in the granite and a painter could paint the filled area to match the granite. Wood columns are often painted to look like marble.

I thought about your foot board missing veneer, I'd try using wood putty and slowly build up layers until it was level with the natural veneer then sand and paint the whole thing the same color of the rest of bed, it's such a small patch that you might find it a better solution than adding a patch that would look out of place.

Regarding matching the colour and texture of the granite, the lads on Les Jeromes did a matching experiment for their exterior limestone blocks using the same ground up limestone in their mix. Not sure if that process will work here but crossing fingers for you. Otherwise perhaps you could hang a strip tapestry/paintings or something like that to hide the patch?? Regarding the walls, is there a sealing product you could apply that stops the flaking and prepares the surface for wallpaper? Might save u a lot of time and effort. I’ve seen comments online that say this but some do say to sand first. But if only putting wallpaper on it then perhaps it will be sufficient. All the best.

I’m tossing up whether to throw my partners ugly, old, ripped up shorts out. He loves them so much. He has a t shirt he bought in Holland in the 80’s and he still wears that. Yes, it’s embarrassing it has holes, stains and is discoloured, but he thinks it’s great? Beautiful bed. Good like with the walls
