Just got this on my homepage, and let me explain and share my thoughts on the ending of Mockingjay. So, like you said, there's no "happy ending", because trauma doesn't just go away. With the right support and time, we can find ways to manage it, but it never truly goes away. It's not a happy ending, nor meant to be one, because, quite frankly, war doesn't have a happy ending. Another thing you didn't talk about when it comes to the ending, but I've seen many others talk about, is that she has children. Many see this as Suzanne feeling like a happy ending for a female protagonist means they have to have kids, but it represents Katniss's healing. She said earlier in the series that she didn't want kids, due to the fact that she didn't want to raise them in poverty and with the risk of joining the hunger games. Que the epilouge, and Katniss and Peeta have kids, even though it took Katniss years to feel safe enough to do so. In conclusion; while we never do see Katniss truly get a "happy ending", she does have a solid support system to help her heal, which, in my opinion, is the best ending to this series. It's not, and was never meant to be a "feel-good" read, but rather a series mirroring our real-world issues. EDIT: I just realised this might be read as hate, which it absolutely is not. I really enjoyed this video and your thoughts on the books :)

Hey no stress!! I didn’t interpret as hate!! Anyways I completely agree with what you said upon further reflection as I said majority of my thoughts after like 5 minutes of finishing the series and read it a year ago now - especially about her growth in the end! 🫶
