It’s time for the R35 to hit the tarmac. We head out to Luddenham Raceway for a day of shakedowns and track tuning. We meet the car’s owner and driver - Brian while Scott gets busy with data logging and setting up the traction control, pit speed limiter and the ABS system. The R35 gets some test laps under its belt while Brian gets used to his new ride. We finally get to see how all the systems perform in the environment they were designed for.
While this is the last episode of this series we are actually planning a Q&A episode where we’ll try to answer the questions you’ve posted in the comments. So if you do need more information about a particular topic we covered in the series or any other questions about wiring, ecu setup or tuning in general - please post them in the comments section.

What a great build series! The insight into how you integrated all of the sensors into a comprehensive data log was great. It’s such a luxury to have access to all of that telemetry to see exactly what is happening and tailor the response of the car to what the driver needs. Looks like the car will be quite a monster once everything gets dialed in. The success of the shakedown day is a testament to your supreme technical capability and the performance of the Haltech systems! Congratulations on such a phenomenal race car!

With the wheel speed sensors, you were able to detect the left rear wheel was spinning. Instead of using an LSD (or spool) diff, can you use the ECU to apply the brakes, via the ABS, on that wheel? i.e. traction control?

Obviously there was a lot of Research and Development put into creating the NEXUS R5 my question is how long was it in the works before you felt it was ready for release and when you find things that you want to change/update will it be a new unit or just a download for the existing one.

When are some of these features, such as third party CAN communication integration, the keypad and so on will be brought to the elite series? Also, why not have a single software instead of forcing Elite owners to continue to use a very outdated and slow software. Can we have the compatibility on the NSP software with Elite series ECUs in the future with an update?
@haltech
@haltech 3 жыл бұрын
NEXUS is a brand new product (a new generation) with a complete new hardware so it requires a new firmware/software. Using Elite software on the NEXUS would be very limiting as the software was designed for the Elite series hardware. Likewise making NSP backwards compatible with Elite would be very limiting because of Elite's hardware. It's the same situation with all computers, mobile phones, tablets etc. New firmware/software is designed to take advantage of the new hardware and vice-versa. Having said all that - we are working on an update for the Elite series which will include some of the new features available in the NEXUS software.
@ralmslb
@ralmslb 3 жыл бұрын
@@haltech As a programmer myself, that is just a bunch of excuses. You already have the engine to flash the Elite firmware and the NSP software would be used as front end where you can just enable or disable features depending on capacity. The great majority of things you can do on the NSP engine wise, you can do on an Elite, however with a incredibly slow software requiring completely outdated dependencies for the UI. What I'm seeing is that Haltech is dedicating the great majority of their efforts on a very expensive ECU that the majority of people don't need. This to say, that as a recent customer to Haltech (Elite 1500), the sensation I have is that the Elite will be slowly left to die, being a very very closed ecosystem I will be left stuck on an old product. As an example, things like customizable CAN support should be already added or support for third party extension modules.
@haltech
@haltech 3 жыл бұрын
We are currently working on exactly what you've outlined - an update for the entire Elite series that will take advantage of as many NSP features as the Elite hardware will allow. This will include an updated software.
