Gardening with a dog on my UK allotment plot and in the home garden - weekly diary/vlog of our exploits beginning Jan 2023 🌽🍓🥦
Another 'jobs for the weekend' episode - and this time I have an actual list. I need to make the most of this (last?) bout of good weather! First job - clear, clean and then plant up the greenhouse with winter salads and greens. The list goes off track when mum and I decide to go for a big walk and a forage but I get back to it on Sunday. To end, mum and I do another Sunday dinner plot-to-plate dinner which was DELICIOUS.
Edit: oops - misspelling of 'Himalayan'... 👀
I hope you enjoyed this week's video - please do like and subscribe if you did. Thank you for watching 💕😊

So glad your garden brings you joy! That’s the way it should be. It looks like the garden brings Dorie joy too. I love the way she tilts her head. Dog sign language? You dug up your coleus. I’ve got one I need to pot and bring inside. They’re pretty aren’t they? I want to plant nasturtium next year. They are so pretty and you can eat them! Your greenhouse planting is beautiful and promising, which is what we need in the winter. Take care 🙋🏻‍♀️ my friend x

Thank you Cindy. There's lots of jobs and I always feel behind, but yes - it brings me lots of joy 😊 Nasturtiums are great and I had a few self seeders this year. I never did get round to planting any on the allotment but I will next year 👍

Morning Kerry, yes here too the change in temp is quite noticeable. It fluctuates between 7c 30c 🤦🏼‍♀️. I am finding the common theme to be “more is less” we all tend to go over board I think but it’s the nature of gardeners to see things growing. It’s our life blood 😅. How do you ever find enough time 😅😅 but you do 👍 a great job and entertain us all to boot. Greenhouse is absolutely full still 😮. I think sweet potatoes 🍠 are harvested when the leaves 🍁 go yellow. Yes I just freeze my tomatoes or give them away. I should look into, canning but that requires room too for storage. Hard to believe it’s October but looking lovely Kerry. Thank you for the always wonderful video. Happy gardening, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦

Thank you for the sweet potato tip - I will hold off for now! Yes, we seem to be speeding through October and we're now forecast even colder temps this weekend 🥶 Thank you for watching Ali xx

Hi Kerry thumbs up to over an hr video 👍loved it 😊 yes please to tomato seed processing. One question would you do the same with Physalis fruits? Thanks 😊

Good question! I had to look it up as I haven't done it before, but yes - seems like it is exactly the same process for physalis as it is tomatoes and tomatillos. Good to know! Thank you for watching Wendy 😊

Himalayan balsam is a non native invasive weed not a good thing to collect seed from!

Oh wow really?? 🥶🥶 will check what’s happening down this way. Just left some butternut out to maybe ripen a tad more. A funny moment “if you’ve heard this fast forward…all of it😅😂😂 you crack me up. I don’t recall the purchase of the frame so hence no fast forwarding for me. Loved the longer video. Ooh will be interested to see what you do with those foraging delights as far as incorporating them into sourdough bread 😮❤ Kitchen hands required must go….

@valeriepritchard677 It is, you're absolutely right - but that's why I am collecting it to eat. Better to eat it than let it spread, I say, and they've got a lovely nutty flavour. But I have to be super careful with them and not let any seed drop - and the last thing I'd want is to drop a seed in the garden!! 🙈🙈

Ah yes, my mum has been propagating from them quite successfully this year. She has a lovely warm conservatory that plants just seem to love. My house is quite cold!

The compost? It's sold at Blue Diamond garden centres and online. Big Sainsbury's have it in the summer. Haven't seen it at any of the other garden centres I go to though.
