It’s very interesting to watch you working and your workshop looks amazing.

Good to hear you are finding it interesting. The workshop is only a small but I do try to keep it organised.

Looking absolutely lovely. Looking forward to seeing your trim system.

Thank you for your kind comment. The trim system is way off down the line and until I have the rest of the drawing I can't even start drawing it up.

I do try to show how I do things, so others can see how I do it and get ideas that they might adapt for their projects.

Thanks so much, enjoyed the video... great learning point on the trim

So glad you enjoyed the video and got something from it. Just remember these are my thoughts and ideas, they might not be correct. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

Really enjoying these Algy. Nice workshop dust jacket you have there ;) I like the Steve Holland farmhand. Nice touch.

Thats a nice little Farmhand, I really enjoy flying my 90 version.

Good spot, it is slightly modified and rounded off a bit and flaps added. The engine that out at the moment is a Saito 14B 4 stroke petrol, which sounds nice in flight.
@TomGarner45053 жыл бұрын
@@flyingkub Ill bet that sounds good. Mine is unmodified with a DLE 40 twin which gives it plenty of poke for occasional glider towing. If I were to do it again theres a few things I'd change like split flaps instead of the standard plain ones.

@@TomGarner4505 My one is very aerobatic and even with the heavey engine could fly slow, with good STOL ability. I did think about the big one. My one has lasted well it was one of the first 60 size kits released.

Tremendous skill and craftsmanship. It must be very satisfying to see the tail feathers come together. Are you going to complete the Youngster kit? Thank you for all the additional effort to record/edit the videos - its very much appreciated!
@flyingkub3 жыл бұрын
I am not sure I am worthy of such high praise. Yes, I am pleased with the way the Tail Feathers are coming together, although as you will see in past and future episodes there are some issues with the plans and some modifications I make. In answer to your question, “Are you going to complete the Youngster kit?”, I would say there is a high probability. It is very encouraging to get comments like yours, that make the editing efforts all worthwhile, I hope you continue to enjoy the content and if you have any suggestions / requests let me know.

Really enjoying watchng these videos and learning a lot watching how you approach things. At 7:48 you show using a router to trim off the excess material from the gussets. Do you have a guide for this or is it done just by eye?
@flyingkub2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The router has a bearing at the end the same size as the cutter so will only cut back as far a the material it is running on.

Re glueing end grain - I've read that sanding end grain is to be avoided as dust fills the grain and weakens the joint. Your thoughts?
@flyingkub7 ай бұрын
If I have to sand a joint, especially end grain, I use a wire brush, then compressed air to clean the area. I have not found any problems.
@nickbarsby33787 ай бұрын
Good to know. When I read it I thought maybe a good tap on the bench would be enough to dislodge the dust anyway.
@flyingkub7 ай бұрын
@@nickbarsby3378 It tends to stick a bit with some wook like Northen White Pine, Douglas Fur and Spuce so a fine stainless steel wire brush gets most out, the compressed air can get a bit more out but nothing much, it is mainly the brush.
@timstephenson24212 жыл бұрын
Also how do you sand off the execess adhesive when laminating things like the leading edge of the tailplane and make sure the result is flat and you don't over/under sand across the length of the leading edge for instance?
@flyingkub2 жыл бұрын
That's just a case of taking my time and just sanding keeping the bloke flat until I meet the wood.
