The problem with the ricepudding is that if its not cooked properly it becomes grainy and thats not good at all.. When its made correct our ricepuding with raspberry is delicous.. And lefse with our famous brown cheese is heaven on earth Greetings from Oslo,Norway

We really loved Akershus before it turned into this Princess thing. Great Norwegian appetizers in the buffet. We went several times for them. Sad that they changed it.

My late Mom and I also loved the old buffet. It was something different. Now I have no reason to go there, as the food is not that diffferent than I can get elsewhere and is way too expensive.

"That's not it" cracked me up! The drinks looked nice and fruity the way I like them! I don't think I would have enjoyed the food there though. Loved seeing little Kristen with her fave princess from when she was younger. The cabin looked so fun and festive! Maria and Ashlyn did an amazing job decorating!

Speaking of manatees, have you ever gone to Weeki Wachee Springs on the west coast of Florida. Reportedly, between December to February the manatees go towards the spring due to being attracted to the warmer waters of the creek towards the spring as opposed to the colder Gulf waters. Also, there are the dancing mermaids and might make a great video for ya.

It was never a line buffet, the appetizers made the buffet and the main courses were served individually with maybe 5 choices being offered. Dessert was also served per person to the table. One of our very favorite places, we are Scandinavian, hubbys family hails directly from Norway. The food there is also as authentic as it could be, being made at Disney. Very good. Thanks Nate! Never been to Akershus,so thanks so much for the review!! I find, as we get older,we care more about the food and prefer to get less interrupted as we eat. So it's nice to see that the Princesses float more and hover less. Very nicely done. Can't wait for the Fort Wilderness video!!! we once took a carriage ride,but it only went down one or two lanes.......I had no idea how involved some sites get!! WOW!!!

Yes, it was a buffet in the 90’s. I remember it was a lot more Nordic cuisine, too, (lots more fish, pickled herring, rye bread, etc.) and since I was 11 or so that was a bit hard to eat 😂 I’m glad they changed up the food options, and catered a little bit more to kids and American tastes. I love the Nordic countries, but the cuisine can be a tad daunting.

It's really a shame you didn't get to eat there when it was a buffet type sit down. You could order all the entries they had and they bring them to you. Just enough on the plate for you to taste and enjoy it. And the had a bar that had a lot of foods from Norway that was really tasty and you went up and got what you wanted. No princess but I believe they take away from your experiences and run the price up.

I remember when Akershus had a wonderful smorgasbord. They offered an excellent selection of authentic Norwegian food - Breads, Cheeses, numerous Salads, Rutabaga Casserole, Swedish Meatballs, and at least 5 Fish dishes including Pickled Herring and Wolf Fish. At dinner, Venison was on the menu. They also had an excellent selection of desserts. Now, they've dumbed down the menu to cater to families with kids, so except for one kind of bread and a so-so rice dessert, anything remotely Norwegian is gone. They added the Princesses to increase their revenue, and it appears to work. I'm going to guess though, that this particular Character Dining Experience will be a once in a lifetime thing. Based on the food that you showed, there's no way that it's worth the price - especially if like me, you have no interest in dining with Disney Princesses. It's a shame. Akershus used to be the only restaurant in the Orlando area that served authentic Norwegian cuisine. And sadly, that's not the case anymore.
