If you're planning to change the device password: #1 have a very good reason for doing so! #2 Remember what you changed it to and have that noted and saved in multiple locations. #3 If you're selling or giving the controller to someone else, reset the password to the default value (see video description) If you change and then forget the password, the controller will still work but you'll not be able to change any of the default settings. You may be able to contact Epever customer support for assistance: epever.com/contact/

Great video. Mr Brown I have a 6415an controller. And a Epever 3000w inverter. My inverter is cutting out with high voltage at 28.2. Losing ac. Voltage momentarily. What do you recommend. I have used Chins battery numbers.

Simply reduce the max charging voltage settings like I did when running a 4S/16V battery on my 1000W inverter. It had a max input voltage of 16.0 volts and it took some fiddling to get the parameters dialed in to not exceed 16.0 volts:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZfQiZ6tjqqVrNE The hard part was working with things like cloud edge effects and also when a large load on the inverter would shut off. It takes the charge controller some time to respond to the change in input or load and cut back on the input/charging current. Also, a larger battery bank can help as it'll take more current to make it rise in voltage.

Thanks man, I will try that tomorrow. Lowering the the max charging .

This is all new for me. Can I damage my equipment with any of these settings? What do I need to becareful of? I have done AC. Work before and I know that Square D and similar manufacturers only "pack a certain amount of smoke " in their equipment. Don't want to go there. Thanks man for your help.

@@boscodog4358 Best to start with your current settings, write them all down and then work out what you want to change. You'll need to be in the USER battery type to make any changes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aonLp6qoqrt4gLc You can only make 0.1 volt changes and there are some parameters that depend on other parameters, as in VoltageX has to be lower than VoltageY, so it may take a few cycles through the parameter setting menu to get everything entered. Can't really hurt anything as the controller won't let you enter values that are out of range. The important thing to remember is that most of these charge controllers have no voltage sense wires off the battery. They only know the voltage at the controller terminals. So you may need to adjust the values up or down depending on what you measure (and what your inverter sees) at the battery terminals. It took me a while to work through my charging parameters for a 4S lithium-ion battery bank. I made my initial settings, found some over voltage issues and I think it took 2 more tries to dial it in, thus the 3 parts of that series of videos.

Glad you got it working. Yes, that device password can be confusing. If you ever think of changing it, be sure to write the new p/w down in a few places because if you forget it, you're stuck with the settings that are there.

Thank You! Very helpful for a newbi like me. I have not figured out the "Load" thing. My MT50 shows the light "On" when I plug it into my battery each morning. I am just playing to learn before I hook it up to a system. So I charge one battery with it during the day on a Tracer 4215BN Charge Controller. I was able to select and change the AmpHour of my battery after watching this KZbin. You said it didn't matter (I think), but I don't understand that. I would imagine the CC needs to know what AmpHour the battery is being charged ??? NOTE: I disconnect my CC and connected MT50 each night from the solar panels first, then disconnect the CC from the battery and bring them inside for the night. I reconnect and change the AmpHour of my battery (back) each morning when I reconnect my system starting with the battery (That I have used connected to an inverter but not connected to anything else during the evening.) Anyway, back to "Load". After my battery charges for a while, the Load (light bulb icon thingy) will stop showing like it is "on" and go to "off". What is that and how do I adjust it and why do I care? I just don't like that it changes and I don't know why. Thank you for any wisdom you can pass along. My battery is a 12 Volt Sealed Lead Acid AGM deep cycle @ 120 AmpHour rating.

Load is the DC load, that's the pair of terminals on the far right of the controller. That is where you can pull up to 20 amps of DC current off the controller and turn it on and off with the orange button or you can set up automatic on/off cycles in the MT50. These controllers are mainly designed for use in lighting systems and they have all sorts of "on and sundown" and "off X hours later" options. I just leave mine on the manual control option and then hook up my DC loads to the terminals. I have 12V LED lights, fans, etc. connected to mine. The controller/MT50 will track the amp-hours of energy sent to the DC load over a month. I forget what the default DC load setting is, but if you are not using it, you can ignore it. I've not seen much affect by changing the battery AH setting. It may affect something like the float current, but I've yet to see anything definite there.

Great video! Is there a way to calibrate the mt50 in the Para... to match the voltage of the battery voltage? Because when I connect my multimeter to my 24 V battery bank I’ll get 24.7... but my mt50 Display 24.9? I would like to calibrate my mt50 to Mach what my battery’s are really at?
@The4Crawler4 жыл бұрын
I've never run across any way to do that. One thing to do is make note of the difference (best to check when there's no charging/discharging current flowing) and then you'll know the offset when you read the meter. Part of the issue is there's no separate voltage sensing wires and if there's any current flowing in or out of the battery, there will be a voltage drop between the battery and charge controller.

R brown can i connect imax b6 lithium charger to mppt solar controller directly or i need to use inverter?
@The4Crawler5 жыл бұрын
All depends on the charger and the battery voltage. I run my ImaxB6 directly off my 12V battery bank: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2iUfZKEiayhhJo I also run an iCharger 1010 off my 16V battery bank: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWHdXn1vbNxnqs0 So if you charger has a suitable DC power input that matches your battery bank voltage, you should be able to connect it directly.

Hello, Great video explaining everything! Unfortunately, I have a different problem that wasn't covered. I'd really appreciate your help. I bought 4 used MT50 units, and their passwords have been changed from the factory settings. I followed your instructions on resetting the password using option No. 7 "Device Password PSW." When I tried entering the original password "000000" and pressing 'Ok,' I got an "Error Code" and couldn't reset the password. Could you please help me with this? Thanks!

Strangely enough I have never changed the password on my mt50 but when I am asked for a password and do the default it says error. This is the second one I have had as the last did the same, but I thought that was because the old owner of my boat had forgotten his password, although he told me he thought he had never put a password in. I bought this one and on purpose put no password in. Now about 7 months later I can’t get into it.

@@colinstobbart599 Yes, it does seem to be something that got added on at the last minute without a lot of thought. My old MT5 controller had nothing like that. Seems they should have had an option to enable password protection if you wanted to and have that off by default. It's a nice feature to have if the controller is in a location where random people can access it and make inadvertent changes. But if not, it's a PITA to deal with, especially when you get locked out.
