It's strange that the H6 is the one with the bass rolloff, because I don't know if it's just my headphones or the environment in which I'm listening to this, but it really sounds to me like the H6 is the one with more low-end frequencies in the sounds. Even so though, the background white noise reduction with the F3 is noticeable and dramatic, so I'd definitely agree that it is the superior product!

As an ASMRstist starting up, it's fascinating to see you talk about your audio mixing process, in this video alone I learnt a few things that I didn't know but just listening to your explanation about the basics. i don't have my usual audiophile setup, but i can tell immediately that there is less background noise. audio quality is the same between the two, don't notice a difference there, but background noise is surprisingly low with the f3. the H6 also has a harsher noise, the F3 does a good job keeping the background noise pretty soft.

It feels like F3 cuts too much lows and a little bit highs, and that said it kinda loses the "deepness" of the sounds. In any case, I don't think that the difference will be noticeable to most people. But the noise reduction is insane!

Now that's an interesting topic uncle E... I make retro music (80s inspired) and its the analog feeling that I'm after. So the tape noise (mostly white noise) is a thing in every 80s recording. Doesn't matter if it's video or audio the 80s had noise. I think that that is one reason why everything felt more organic back in the day. So I tend to the h6. But the quality of live stands for f3.

as a music producer I’ve got a bit of experience with audio systems, personally I think the F3 sounds like it does a better job handling volume spikes (the ducking is less noticeable, particularly on the jar lid sounds) but that could also be attributed to the lower noise floor (higher noise floor on the H6 will make volume ducks more apparent). I think in the end which one you use is really gonna be dependent on what kind of video you’re recording. Something that’s meant to be more ambience or have a more lofi feel, or lots of really quiet sounds? H6. (higher noise floor would lead to white noise filling the gaps better with the really quiet sounds if you want that.) Making a video with an assortment of various triggers and you want them all to be very crisp with no background sounds? F3. All in all I think I prefer the clarity of the new recorder, but I think some (very minor) eqing could be done to bring back some of the midrange body that’s lost with it compared to the H6 Edit: I did notice some high pitched crackles (? I guess, I don’t really know what to call them) around 29:50. Not sure if this was caused by either of the recorders or if it’s just an artifact of the noise reduction.
@carson28892 жыл бұрын
I actually have no clue what these crackles could be, because I’ve rewatched the same section of video several times and the crackles happen in different places every time. So it’s my earbuds (currently writing this in my bed) or KZbin fucking up 🤷♂️

Interesting video, really nice reduction in noise. The F3 audio seems a bit flatter. I guess it could just be the base roll off, but could also be that you need to make sure you treat the audio right, ie as 32bit float, to not loose precision

It's quieter here but you'd need to test it with a few dif matched pairs to see if it is really the noise floor or if the mics are playing a role vs the dif built in preamps . The f3 states High quality mic preamps provide a super-low noise floor (−127 dBu EIN) but my h4n pro black which it states is the same as the h5 and h6 is A -120 dBu EIN noise floor .... I didn't notice much dif in the sound quality between the 24 bit and 32 bit ( besides the bass that wasn't cut on the f3 ) For $400 for this, it doesn't seem to me like it's worth that kind of money. It all depends on what it's value is to each person I guess but to me, again, far too much cash for what it is and what it offers me. The f6 would be more towards my needs but that's $700.00 plus. Thanks for the vid , if it works for you that's great, it's your money and you can purchase whatever you want.
