Another funny (in hindsight) yet frightening story that I experienced in my youth during the early 1980's.

Oh man my grandpa would tell the longest winded stories, he would start, get quiet and put his head down like he's thinking, push his glasses up and bring his head back up for a few more words. You'd start to wonder if there was really a story to be told, but it always turned out there was and a good one by the end.

These story episodes are awesome! Surely you have many stories to tell, you just have to think specific topics, like funny / bad things that happened at one of your jobs. Or stories about first experiences, like first industrial concert, first time trying w33d, first time falling in love. You’re the man Rift!

I remember in my early teens in the mid-90s taking a shortcut home through a park and some hobo suddenly appeared out of the reeds, trying to get me to drink from the filthy gin bottle he was nursing. I managed to get away unscathed and without issue, but I could've done without the calling as I walked off. Basically, I can relate and thank you for sharing such a resonant story and viewpoint.

I am always seeing naked people it's crazy. Back in the 1970s a few of my friends were walking by the town pool early in the morning. We saw the maintenance man sweeping around the buildings we noticed he has his junk hanging out like it was nothing. We were about ten years old also we started laughing at the guy then he walked back into the building. We told our parents and later that weirdo got fired. Years later I just happened to look out my front door and I saw my neighbor across the street standing completely naked in his door way. I yelled for my husband to look and he says why do I want to see that shit lol. The neighbors later said the guy was a nudist but still it was really strange lol. I saw a few more things like this but it's too long to get into.

People always shut my stories down because i take too long, describing all the details. I like it though. I think I am a similar story teller to you. Its fun fully enveloping yourself into the story though. Some people hate drawn out stories, others love it. I love em. You were speaking on writers, slow and drawn out, is the way I feel most writers would tell a story. I think you'd make a good one.

I'm 18 and I feel the same way you do and always have. I have things that I kind of like doing, but I don't have the drive or interest to pursue anything in particular. It's been a point of frustration for some time now and it hasn't helped with my confidence either. People tell me I don't need to know what I want to do yet, but me not knowing what I want to do isn't what concerns me. What does concern me is that I don't seem to have ANY interests, or at least any strong one's. I'm just hoping one day I find something I'm passionate about or at least like enough to do for work. Editing as I watch, and I do the same analysis thing hahaha. I'm always thinking about stuff I see, even if it doesn't really matter to me at all. I guess it's just a habit.

this kind of reminds me of something I was just remembering the other day. Back when I was probably about 7 or 8 years old I was at a park with some other kids around that age, and I can't remember exactly why we were all there, but whatever the reason, there was limited adult supervision for that age (so I don't think it was a birthday party or a school thing, as there weren't parents or teachers immediately present I don't think). But anyway, this girl who was I think just a little older than me came up to me and some of my friends and warned us that some guy (I think an adult? Although possibly like an older teenage boy, I can't really remember tbh) was lurking over by the bathrooms exposing himself to her earlier. She actually used the term "flashing" iirc, which, although I wasn't like exceptionally innocent for that age (like my family wasn't religious and by that age I already very vaguely, clinically knew about sexuality, but this was like 1997-ish, so the internet wasn't much of a thing and not something I had access to), I had never heard before and remember I had to ask her what she meant by that. Anyway, I thankfully never saw the perv myself, and that's probably why at the time I remember finding the whole thing more confusing than frightening, like I just didn't for the life of me understand why some grown up man would be randomly exposing part of his body to little girls, it just seemed bizarre at that age, but looking back and remembering that this happened now at age 32 is immensely disturbing, like I'm incredibly lucky that I never ended up personally interacting with the creep, and we were all lucky that seemingly all he did was expose his junk, because I now have the wisdom and experience to realize just how much worse it could've gone. It's always weird looking back on these kind of "near-miss" potential traumas that didn't mean much to you at the time they happened, but are just completely horrifying in retrospect. Also tbh, looking back on how many times before I had even gone through puberty where adult men were basically already lowkey hitting on me, or at least commenting on my appearance in ways that, once again, didn't mean very much to me at the time, but in retrospect were totally not appropriate for any adult to say to a child.
