You could probably have fallen back give them more of the entrance, that way, they can't use walls as a layer of protection for their missiles units. Plus you have a high ground position with forests where your scorpions were at. Forests reduce the amount of projectile damage a unit can take so you can station your range units there being able to boldly take on a fight with any other archer unit because they have the advantage. You can also have infantry block off the pathway to the victory point in a position where your range units can easily shoot them in their non shielded side should they engage with the infantry

Yeah but if you choose factions carefully, you can render Pergamon useless. Here, Apollo chose Nervii and used many Fierce Swords. This is terrible for him bc Firce Swords isn't a typical Sword Followers or Chosen Swords. It require careful ability usage which Apollo did not do at all. And against Pergamon that is a red flag as Fierce Swords only have 45 armor If I know I will have to fight Pergamon I would choose Sparta. It is a very high point faction with strong infantries and skirmishers that Pergamon can't match

@@andrasbesenyei8923 Thats not true, u can use whatever faction u want either on attack or defense (unless u've used it already in the tourney). You can use Rome in group stages, u can attack with a nomad faction and u can defend with sparta. But imagine sparta being used here instead of Nervii, what can Apollo do against my infinite pila? He can just look at me and take it like a man, which even tho it sounds good is a sure losing play against pergamon

Just might be the best league match commentary of this season, had me laughing the entire time man 🤝 Like i told you guys after the match, this was lost in the faction picks. You took Nervii and i instantly locked in Pergamon. What made it worse is Ruvaak going in as Armenia since Kartlis have 55hp and die to javies even when front dumped, so i didnt really need to search for your unshielded sides here in this matchup. I admire everyone in the comments theorizing what u could have done to prevent this but the reality is that nothing would have changed the outcome that much. Pergamon is the faction i played the most in the last 2 months so just trust me when i say that i would have adapted to every single way of defense you guys tried, even the full army sally which would funnily enough work good against Pergamon 🤔 GGs once again, made us waste some serious hitting factions here

Sometimes i feel like when you're engaging infantry, you have to also bring a skirmishing unit to be in range of potential enemy archers. It's like a chess game of protecting a figure with a horse or whatever :D

It had been years since I had seen an online battle with the Pergamon faction, its use is really rare, despite the fact that the Agema and the Thureos Spears are good units launching projectiles, but perhaps it is the lack of variety in Melee Infantry, which makes them unpopular. In any case, in the end Gorillas Boiis won both games without any difficulty, something that is surprising since your team is quite good, despite the lack of a level of competition like the one in this tournament, it affected you.

Honestly I think if you're gonna beat the Gorilla Boiis at the game of thinking outside the box you should take a faction with good heavy infantry and do a huge sally like when they choose horse factions. It neutralizes the advantage they have when it comes to positioning javvies inside the walls to always have an angle by forcing them to play outside as if it were a pitch battle and it counteracts the use of spearmen to impede cav. Yes, I know you completely open yourself to skirmishers and cav but with good armored units you can absorb some of the ranged hate and besides the odd units here and there they don't seem to favor cav when attacking.

Porcupine do not shoot out their quills but their tail attack is very fast. Though I don't know it's speed I would assume it is nearly as fast as a snake strike. That said there are very few animals that have quills. By definition there are only 4 types with quills but counting spikes the porcupine are still the only ones that have a detachable weapon. Including insects, animals with projectile weapons are few, but the porcupine quills would probably best fit the definition of spears.

As for the game. Devastating control there from the Gorilla boys. As this tournament continues the battles seam to be getting more and more fierce. The intensity is always up there but the ferocity of the players seams to be rising.

Celtic warriors, galation swords, and other light/medium Celtic sword units need to get their charge off they have 25 charge bonus, 2nd highest charge bonus for infantry in the game, if you charge with Celtic swords against like a static thorax swords theyll lose but they WILL get 80+ kills. If you keep them still and they take a charge from any unit even hillmen they will lose.

I don't know why you kept charging instead of holding chokepoints. I think one of the only ways you could have really countered their army composition though is by bring a large number of cheap expendable units to absorb the ammo.
