THE BOATS CALLED "NAP TIME"
@thebonesaw..4634
@thebonesaw..4634 2 жыл бұрын
The first clip... I was out for a day of fishing with my wife and a few friends on the Chesapeake Bay (I had a 26' cabin cruiser at the time), when we came up onto another cabin cruiser of about the same size. Their boat was on a collision course with an 800 foot natural gas tanker being piloted in, while being tended to by a couple of tugs. The ship was trying desperately to get the little boat to notice them. Blast after blast of their horn was being ignored, and the ship was in the early stages of trying to alter its course to avoid the collision (but big ships don't change course quickly). Since we were close, I gunned it and we came alongside the unpiloted craft... one of my friends began yelling out that they were about to get killed once this giant ship rammed into them within the next 30 seconds or so. Suddenly, a very embarrassed couple came rushing up to the bridge, almost completely naked (yeah... they were doing exactly what you think they were doing). The man took over the controls and steered his boat out of the bigger ship's path... disaster averted.

“This has been a wonderful day!” said he, as the Rat shoved off and took to the sculls again. “Do you know, I’ve never been in a boat before in all my life.” “What?” cried the Rat, open-mouthed: “Never been in a - you never - well I- what have you been doing, then?” “Is it so nice as all that?” asked the Mole shyly, though he was quite prepared to believe it as he leant back in his seat and surveyed the cushions, the oars, the rowlocks, and all the fascinating fittings, and felt the boat sway lightly under him. “Nice? It’s the only thing,” said the Water Rat solemnly as he leant forward for his stroke. “Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolute nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing,” he went on dreamily: “messing - about - in - boats; messing - ” “Look ahead, Rat!” cried the Mole suddenly. It was too late. The boat struck the bank full tilt. The dreamer, the joyous oarsman, lay on his back at the bottom of the boat, his heels in the air. “ - about in boats - or with boats,” the Rat went on composedly, picking himself up with a pleasant laugh. “In or out of ’em, it doesn’t matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that’s the charm of it. Whether you get away, or whether you don’t; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you’re always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you’ve done it there’s always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you’d much better not. Look here! If you’ve really nothing else on hand this morning, supposing we drop down the river together, and have a long day of it?” Grahame, Kenneth. The Wind in the Willows (with illustrations by Arthur Rackham) (p. 4). Unknown. Kindle Edition.

@Joseph Nickelback Look closely in the background and you'll find the Kennedy Center, a well-known Washington, DC landmark. (timestamp adjusted for a better view of the building.)

@Joseph NickelbackFirst of all, I have been to DC many times, and I know for a fact that it's the Kennedy Center. Also, never heard of Fort Gibson. (timestamp updated for an even better shot of the building)

As a kid, I sailed cat boats ... 15 to 20 feet long ... before I got in, I'd jump in the water ... just so I wouldn't be worried about tipping over and getting wet while I was sailing ... I was already wet ... fun to press the envelope, just sometimes you go over and get wet ...

@@serinadelmar6012 - When a "sailing" activity is more of a "swimming" activity ... at 15 foot, the boat isn't much more than a board with a keel ... the smallest of sailboats ...

First clip was definitely a couple having sex on the boat while "Sail" played on the background. That's why they didn't hear the bigger boat.

Back in my younger days on Lake of the Ozarks, we would sit on the wooden dock, skis on and in the water (tips up) and when the captain hit it, we would just stand up in the water and off we go. Only problem was the spinters in our butts.
