Boat Fails Of The Year At Haulover Inlet !!
Best Boat Vídeo Compilation !!
Haulover Inlet in Florida is a popular spot for experienced boaters seeking a thrill. Known for its challenging conditions and strong currents, the inlet connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway and is famous for its rough waves and strong winds, which can make boating hazardous. Despite the risks, many boaters are drawn to the inlet's challenging conditions and the opportunity to navigate through it.

55:32 The jetskier is definitely in the wrong. Inlets and Outlets are made to go IN and OUT to reach a marina or harbor, they are basically like a two way street and you are always to remain parallel to the shore on each side. They are not made for idiots on jetskis to do donuts in. Also according to maritime regulations, the smaller vessel with more maneuverability should always give way to the bigger vessel that has less maneuverability.

It never ceases to amaze me how many of these boats have kids on board without life vests (especially in choppy weather). In some situations, adults should have life vests on too and I would argue children under a certain age should wear vests). In the US, between 2003 and 2007, over 700 people were killed from being man overboard situations. It's estimated that 90% happen in calm seas under a foot (US Coastguard stats).

47:20 and on; From what the direction of the current looks to be, the guy actually does a perfect job with the anchor. Causing enough drag on the left side of the boat so the current doesn,t slam them into the rocks, but creates a forward motion. This is how more or less a sailing boat works.

I notice a common theme on most small power boats and centre console boats that they don't seem to have scuppers in the stern to allow fast draining of the water when they take one over the bow. the electric pump hasn't the capacity to discharge allot of water in the shortest time to prevent sinking or at the least preventing the boat from becoming unbalanced.

@@cristoforopassaro2219 Did my comment say that it had something to do with the jet ski being small or hard to see? The collision regulations govern the maneuverability of the vehicle. For instance, a sailboat is very difficult to maneuver under sail, but they still need to watch out for larger boats that are under power, no matter where they are. A jey ski can maneuver far quicker and easier than a boat. The boat was not making any unpredictable maneuvers which gives the jet ski ample opportunity to make way.

It depends on the state. Here in Maryland we have to attend a multi-week training course and pass a test. My only issue with it is that anyone before before 1971 is exempt, and there's more of them than you'd think out piloting boats for the first time.

For the most part I think a lot of folks don't know how to use the trim button on outboard powered rigs. Trim it up and keep the bow up. Not to mention how to place passengers when it gets ruff. Nobody should be in the bow with approching waves like that. If you can't trim the motors move weight to the rear. Enjoyed the show.

Man, I had a 43' boat that led an easy life in a freshwater lake in central Texas with a covered slip. There is NO WAY I would touch a used boat from that area. I mean, the saltwater intrusion alone, let alone all the banging and smacking that happens to some of these boats that really weren't built for ocean conditions. Talk about old before their time!

Watched so many of these, in 2023 and prior years; great to see a year end compilation. I would suggest however, that the main theme of boats that experience trouble or even just unnecessary roughness, is not the inlet itself, although that the very subject of the video. Why is the inlet the way it is? Because the conditions BEYOND THE INLET are inhospitable! You shouldn't be going out into the open water - which is what the inlet takes you to! (duh) - in those kinds of conditions! That is the common theme here. The inlet is just a symptom of what you shouldn't be headed into in the first place.

no its a bar crossing. the seas beyond are not the same conditions.
@johngoodell2775
@johngoodell2775 4 ай бұрын
But the USCG gives bar crossing info enough to make a more educated decision. I just dont understand the cavalier attitude of Florida boaters...I guess maybe it is the water temp. And the boat designs are odd...with that drooping bow that is literally the worst possible design for a boat that has to cross that bar to go to the ocean.

It’s a 53 foot 40,000 lb boat, 300lb of people would not make a difference, and they were definitely not getting wet, the guy up front was directing the captain which way to turn because when the bow is up you can not see very close in front of you

@@sj2291 I'll agree with the weight point but stand by my comment. #One, they were getting slammed in the bow, and #two, if you look at 3:10 on the timeline, they took a huge wave over the bow. They would been much more comfortable in the stern and kept dry. 😉

May I ask a silly question? Is it necessary to obtain a boat license for recreational boats in the Florida/USA? And, are all the boats shown here recreational? Is there a size at which you DO need to be a captain to operate the boat legally? Here in NZ, where we have one of the highest drowning rates in the world (mostly because we all live close to water) I was trained to never get onto a boat (as opposed to a ship, which leans out in a turn) before putting on my life jacket, and never to take it off until I got ashore. Like my Dad (a doctor) used to say, "It's the simplest and easiest thing you can ever do, to ensure you don't die drowning." He said: "It's the cold-water and/or cramps which end up drowning people without lifejackets." Just so you know.

No license required for recreational use up to a certain GVW (gross vehicle weight). Anything over that GVW or a vessel used for commercial reasons requires a license.

Not a license but anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 is required to complete a boating education course or pass a test to operate a recreational boat in Florida.

At 23:54 what kind of hull would that Bayliner be considered? I quite like a lot of Bayliner boats, well made for a decent price, just a decent boat. At least that’s how they were from mid 80’s to late 90’s. Mines a 22’ open bow with 5.7 merc. Inboard. All lake use in the west US, Powell, Mead, etc….. been a great boat. Several interiors recovered but that’s my bad for covering and maintenance at times….
