Several of you have asked for another Comic Book haul video so I was happy to do another one. I love showing which comics I pick up and which deals I find.
I am picking up tons of comic book collections this past spring into summer month and in this video I show you 1 nice collection I purchased as well as a bunch of Ebay finds, Facebook deals, comiccollectorlive purchases and some Birthday gifts..
See which silver age comics and which Bronze Age comics I picked up this week and see which key issue comics I add to my collection.
I will be doing more Comic Book hauls and pickups this week so look for more fun videos.
If you like my comic book haul and pickup videos please let me know in the comments below so I know I should keep making more videos like this.

If Mysterio shows up I think there will be huge changes to his design. In other words, not a guy with a fishbowl on his head and a purple cape. Although they could CGI his head and do something interesting, the way SAGA does Prince Robot as a television screen of emotions. But who knows, Doc Ock was a totally absurd concept and they made that work on-screen and he proved the best cinematic Spidey villain thus far.

Yeah I had a hard time figuring out the Calimero book value but guesstimated that it would be worth $8-$10 so I took a shot. I kinda like goofy characters like that so it looked interesting to me. I sometimes bid on lots on ebay if I see something new and different that I had not seen before just for the fun of learning about something new. Yeah that era of X-men is great, and the condition was decent and newstand editions so I was super happy with those. I think I had most of them as direct editions but very few news stand and I like to collect both when I can. Thank you, I had a great birthday and I am definitely thrilled to finally have a #238 and have it complete and in VF condition. I hope you can track down the AIM promo I think its relatively cheap you just have to find it.

Thank you :) Yeah I think I will be doing more of my Funko Pop collecting by cheap lots on ebay, I seem to get way better value for my dollar that way. I may miss out on some Pops I want, but I am missing out on them anyway since its so hard to find some exclusives and I don't want to pay a premium for them. This years SDCC they are releasing too much and they say they will release even more for NYCC. I think I may do a series of focused comic videos where I create a theme that way I can spend more time talking about them. Such as 100 covers from a single artist that I like etc.

I don't think I have seen a Spider-Man surge yet in comic prices, but once the movie drops if there is a surprise appearance of a character that will increase in value overnight. But Spider-Man comics in general have been rising a lot in the last few years. Amazing Fantasy 15 has double or tripled in value in just the last 4-5 years.

I like the civil war Spider-Man the most but I even like the amazing Spider-Man movies despite all the hate it gets and Spider-Man 3 is also good since it was the first movie I ever saw in theatres. Oh I would like to see a new edit of Spider-Man 3 it may improve it. When I first saw it I kinda hated it, especially since I loved the first 2 so much. But my son became a huge Spider-Man fan when he was a year and a half old and by the time he was 2 to 3 years old he had all the movies on heavy rotation play. I think #3 plays a lot better when you watch it in a marathon with the other movies since you connect with the characters more that way.

Well since you asked, I'll tell you, you did miss the fact that that Hulk issue with Rocket Raccoon is not the first ever Rocky raccoon. Lol. You might want to research that. And you didn't mention it but that X-Men 169 is the first Callisto of the morlocks. Yes the Brave and the Bold 200 is the first appearance of The Outsiders team and katana like you said. I don't remember exactly but I think that DC Comics presents book with Black Adam is maybe his third appearance? I know it's not his second because I have that + whats interesting between first appearance in 1947 in which he died at the end and his second appearance in 1977 is the fact that they didn't utilize the character for anything for 30 years, in part because Fawcett company lost the court battle between them and National Comics which became DC and had to stop publication of Shazam and all of his related characters, then the characters languished for a while and Fawcett went under, then sometime in the seventies, Marvel bought the rights to a lot of the Fawcett characters and dubbed them Earth S in the Multiverse of DC. How is Avengers 223 a key issue? Why didn't you mention Iron Man 163 as the first Obadiah Stane? And 169 is the first issue where Jim Rhodes is asked to take over as Iron Man and #170 is when he dawns the suit cuz Tony's too drunk to do it himself.
@popfuntoplay
@popfuntoplay 5 жыл бұрын
1st appearance of rocket Racoon in continuity 2nd appearance overall. I picked up his 1st full appearance at a thrift store a few months before this video. Avengers 223 is considered a Key Issue now because they used that cover to inspire a scene in the Captain America Civil war movie so people will pay $20 for it. Iron Man 163 and 169 sell for about the same price as the issues around them so they never catch my eye as a key issue but of course that can change any day. Thanks for all the info.

@@popfuntoplay so what's the first appearance of Groot then? If you're still considering the book from the 50s where he was just a monster of the week and not his first modern era appearance? Then you should still consider the first Rocky Raccoon that appeared in the magazine size comic from the 70s. I'm not denying that that's Rockets first modern era appearance and the second Groot ever is the first modern appearance. And no problem as far as the info, always willing to help out a guy with info. And thanks for letting me in on what was important about 223
@popfuntoplay
@popfuntoplay 5 жыл бұрын
@@jasonpye4649 1st appearance of Groot is Tales to Astonish 13 2nd Appearance of Groot is Incredible Hulk Annual #5 which is a reprint of the 1st appearance. His 1st modern appearance as he appears in the movies is in the Annihilation: Conquest mini series which is also the first appearance of the modern day Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel Preview #7 is the first appearance of Rocket, which I own. Hulk #271 is his second appearance. I guess people call #271 his 1st appearance in comic form etc, either way its an important key and worth picking up every time you see it cheap, I thin I have 3 of them. Love Rocket.
@jasonpye4649
@jasonpye4649 5 жыл бұрын
@@popfuntoplay yes sir your list right here sounds much more sensible. As far as all those appearances of Groot, I have none of them and I don't have either of those two appearances of rockets, but I have his third. I don't really personally consider a reprint as an appearance technically cuz it's not new. But I guess some people do. I've just never seen Hulk 271 for cheap cuz everybody knows what the hell it is now. And I didn't think there was a distinction as far as appearances in a comic magazine and a regular size comic. LOL because I'm pretty sure the first rocket raccoon was in a comic magazine. Isn't that what Marvel preview is? There's a lot of other first appearances as far as Marvel goes in magazines also. I want to say that deadly hands of kung fu was originally a comic magazine forum
@popfuntoplay
@popfuntoplay 5 жыл бұрын
I had to look it up I bought the first 10 or so issues of Deadly Hands of Kung Fu about 8-10 years ago for $2 each, love the covers. Special Marvel Edition (1971) #15 is the first appearance of Shang Chi which he appeared in 2 issues then they switched it to his own title with #17 I might actually have those two, I have to check my collection it looks like the value has really shot up. #15 came out in Dec 1973 and the Deadly Hands Of Kung fu came out in April 1974.

Belated Happy Birthday! Comic Book Men went to the Japanese Entertainment Museum? I've seen every ep. and don't remember that one. They did go to Steve Geppi's comics museum (aka owner of Diamond Distributors). Love Camila D'Erico's art. You should check out Yuko Shimizu's work also. So ironic the Monstress HC. I had the softcover sitting next to me when I first watched your vid. I have really mixed feelings about it. I've only read maybe a chapter or two but it is so relentlessly grim that I quickly lost interest. The art is pretty, yet has a coldness that sets in, and maybe because of the color scheme, it grows tiresome really fast. Maybe best read in small doses, but if I review it I may be one of the few to proclaim it overrated.Always love the Mike Allred covers...as for why the lady is in the Thing costume (spoiler Alert!!)...nah I have no idea, never even seen that series.

I believe if you would pool your funds together, instead of buying lots of comics which are not worth more than 50 cents each you could find something you could really get excited over while exciting your audiences. It appears that you don't have a focus on what exactly you are looking for. If you were to make a want list of lets say 10 grails and work towards searching for them one at a time you cross out those grail books on your list you would receive a much more relative high of reaching your goals. There is nothing I can see that separates you from the tens of thousands of other collectors on the internet. Not to say that there is anything wrong with that per say but when you display your packages sometimes reaching seven or eight and spending an amount of money something reaching five hundred dollars on common books that go nowhere I want to believe in your excitement of opening packages up with the enthusiasm you show but in the end you leave me by the wayside and unfulfilled.
@popfuntoplay
@popfuntoplay 5 жыл бұрын
Here the thing buying large collections of mostly cheaper books at a fraction of their value is easy to find. Finding collections with nothing but grails for cheap is almost impossible. In my shop I sell through a long box or so of comics each month for about $2-$3 a comic on average so its very easy for me to then reinvest that $600-$900 into more collections keep the stuff I want and once again sell off what I dont. If I spend the $600-$900 on one comic then my cash would be gone and the process would stop. Its the best way I know of collecting without having to work for money to spend on collecting. My focus is finding the best comics I can find at the cheapest price. My ultimate goal is to have one of every comic book. I am at about 50,000 different comics in my collection so this is the best way I know to collect what I need without having to stop collecting because I am out of money. Plus overall I think I sell more then I spend so I actually make a profit while doing it.

Well the comic industry was kinda low not doing so hot in the mid 1990s until about 2008-2009 Then when Marvel started their own studio the interested in comics really blossomed. Todays movies and TV show are really driving up the demand for key issues etc. It still a very small industry though if you consider a lot of comic titles only sell 5-10K issues with the bigger issues only selling 10-100K issues Nothing compared to movies etc.

Right now Rogue has not really been a character of note in movies and TV so the prices are a bit of a bargain I think. You can get a high grade Avengers Annual 10 for $30-$40 and a decent mid grade for less then $20. X-men 158 and 171 maybe $20 in high grade and $10 in midgrade and possibly cheaper. @popfuntoplay
@popfuntoplay 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I have also heard comics are the modern day equivalent of comics lol I lived through the 90s collecting bubbles and as much as their are a lot of similarities there are a lot of differences as well. As a teenager and a young man I did collect for potential value and speculation but in the end that burns you and is not fun. I collect a lot of stuff now because I like it not because it might gain value and that is why I collect Funko pops because I like vinyl figures. I collected a ton of vinyl figures before Pops and I will probably keep collecting afterwards. I do avoid overpaying and always hunt a bargain. In the 1990s everything was mass produced, I remember collecting mass produced Star Trek Playmates figures and they were limited individually numbered collectors items, well the were limited in the 100s of thousands. That is the reason why comics, Beanie Babies, pogs, trading cards and almost anything from the 1990s collapsed and has little value. Modern toys have limited supplies, most Funko Pops are released in the thousands not tens of thousands that is why they release so many new ones every month because they are constantly making new ones. You can only order most new releases from them for a limited time before its sold out to stores, pretty much the same ay new comics are sold. So if the market collapses the pops will still be relatively limited especially the high value ones that have limits of a few hundred. The prices wont tumble on those they will just be harder to sell. Pretty much the same thing will happen with modern variant comics that are also printed in the hundreds to low thousands. When the markets crash there wont all of the sudden be a large supply of the comics, it will still be the same small supply so it will just be harder to sell not necessarily easier to buy cheap. Its all the economic laws of supply and demand. And the way I look at if if the markets crash, I was not planning on selling my toys anytime soon so all it will do is make it a lot cheaper to keep collecting. Thanks for watching ;)

God damn u guys are so picky!! I could have an entire page torn out of my book and I would buy it. If u guys even see a dot of discoloration then u guys won't pay a penny for that

Not sure who this comment is aimed at, but I do like to read my comics so a missing page would probably bug the hell out of me since I would not be able to read the full story. I do like to have the best looking example of each comic I can get but I have plenty of older comics that are detached or damaged in some way that would be hard to afford in better condition. I don't need a 9.8 CGC collection because I want to be able to open up and enjoy my collection and read what I can but at the same time I don't want a bunch of torn and tattered comics if I can find better for the same amount of money. I truly value comics in all conditions.

@@popfuntoplay exactly why would you want a bunch of torn and tattered books that have multiple Pages ripped out of them if you can afford better for the same price? Kaiju LOL would you still buy it if the entire insides gone and it's just the front and back cover? I think we would all agree, that would be foolishness. Plus, kaiju , your statement is pure exaggeration. Seriously? A dot of discoloration and no one would buy it? That's just untrue. Maybe a very small percentage of comic collectors that are purest like to have perfect copies of their stuff. But like 95% of collectors aren't like that cuz if it's a key much older issue, most people would be tickled pink and happy with mid-grade, if they could find it.
