What I love and respect the most about EFRT is your willingness to be vulnerable. You share the highlights and lowlights with us. Losing the drones, the financial realities coupled with the lost footage--tough couple of weeks. Love your enduring spirit!!! For those reading this comment, I strongly encourage you to like the videos, subscribe to the channel and purchase the EFRT merch to support this amazing family. You provide us all with encouragement as we live vicariously, for now, while in quarantine.

The easiest way to forget the pain of losing equipment is to replace it quickly. It happens to all of us. Evaluate your drone’s ‘Go Home’ settings if that’s where it got lost in flight. Also improve your data backup routines.

Sorry you lost you’re drones. My experience with mavics: Change your setting on the drone to hover instead of landing when losing remote signal! Also, turn off return to home when shooting from moving jeeps. Best wishes!
@VeRSINGOnTheGo4 жыл бұрын
Indeed, sucks sorry to see. Suggest also if you have time and you stated a 1 days drive...get on the DJI site under blogs will be many to assist you in locating from the last point of signal. Will be able to get coordinates that will get you I believe up to 2' away from where it is currently. Believe is a special feature in your controller where to access but will be some good folks to assist. Just personally moved away from DJI (zero privacy & they program where you fly and cannot) and went with a new US mfg'r name Skydio...mind boggling. Best in film quality (4k) and can use what they call a beacon that you can toss in your pocket if solo on a trail head. Can get up to 32 mph before she begins to lose contact (found out in my X3). Turned around to last known position and she had stopped and was hovering. Is totally A.I. driven, nearly 360 degree collision avoidance, is nuts. $999 w/out controller options. Best gig on the market currently but major B/O's. Is another company out of CA with a look alike DJI but don't remember the name Evo I believe. The old 3DR Solo is a bit on the large size but can be had for $250 avg. Attch GoPro and all set. Still a very good unit and a decent following. Hope this helps, find your downed Mavic!! Keep up the great vids!! Wife and I headed out in May with our loaded up JKU, 23 Zero RTT & new 270 Awning and HAM setup to Texas for 2 wks as has been 2 yrs since last overland, very excited. Happy travels

@@EFRT No thank you for the great vids of your travels....Your drone is not lost for good. Just have your boys get on DJI as meantioned and your will see what exact file you need to get the last coordinates your UAV communicated before the battery finished. Am hoping the phone will not matter but only the UAV and controller. I will look as well...Keep us posted on your search.

Sorry on your lost drones agreed with a previous comment set the drone to hover when lost signal. An option on the replacement contact DJI support and if the lost isn't covered by warranty they may be able to sell you the body only, you may get a brand new or refurbished drone since you already have the rest of the equipment. It happened to me last year and I just got direct from them a drone by itself and paired to my current control and went flying again. Hope it helps wont hurt to ask and if it works is a more cost effective solution. Good luck and thanks for sharing your adventure.
@EFRT4 жыл бұрын
wescot - that’s a great suggestion. That’s something I will look into as well. We have plenty of batteries and two controllers and a whole bunch of rotors now for the Mavic pro so that sounds like a nice option. Have a wonderful day.
@trekgeist4 жыл бұрын
Do you have the DJI Care Refresh ? Fairly inexpensive considering the alternative and offers up to 2 replacements in one year as long as you are able to find the crashed drone. I would also activate the iPhone screen recording feature while you are flying. The pre- crash footage will likely give you some additional clues as to where the drone is plus the extra benefit of still being able to salvage some shots (albeit in lower res). Lastly, if you are shooting video on the move, don't forget to set the Return To Home to the location of your remote so that if RTH activates it will not accidentally return to its take-off spot. Keep up the great work!

Great country you have in BC! Hate losing or crashing a drone - I've been there, done that :( I always backup SD cards at the end of each day (fairly obvious I know, but easy to forget) Some of the other comments mention the Mavic Mini - its a great little back up drone that's quick and easy to deploy but is susceptible to wind. Pretty cheap and the footage is great.

So sorry about the drones, big loss for sure. Try the Mavic Air 2 this time around. For driving in the snow this time of year you need to lower the tires to 4 psi, Just don't steer hard or hit a log with the wheel turned as the tire will come off the bead, go slow and steady and you'll be fine. 3 decades off road and going. CHEERS Steve h.

Y’all need to learn your drone functions. This is why setting a drones return to home point is important and also setting the return to home point altitude to avoid trees. Even without your phone alive, if you press the return to home button it will return to the home point. Could have saved you $4000 by knowing this. I had to do it in Iceland a couple times because the cold killed the phone battery

Your overlanding reminds me of a military operation. Bags, strapped on top of bags, on the roof, crammed inside, overloaded, and full. Watch out for IUD’s and RPG’s. Don’t eat all your MRE’s, save some to trade with. Treat the locals with respect, keeping your guns out. Don’t liter, or hesitate to blow the crap out of whatever is lying in the road. Always recon unknown situations. Call in air support ‘just because.’ And always, always, keep your objective in mind! ... HAVE FUN and don’t die!

Shoot guys sorry to hear about this crazy situation with the drone... However, there is a solution. On DJI Mavics (all of them) in the settings for the return to home options you need to change the return to home point to Dynamic. This will return the drone to the last CONTROLLER position. 🤞 This will be the last time you guys loose it. Love the energy and spirit you all bring to these vids.
