Kyle le has really grown as a filmmaker. I like the combination of shots where they're sitting on the chair and telling theirs stories and the "live" shots. It feels more relaxed. The somewhat slower pace adds a lot more depth to the whole story i think. Great series btw!

After a 2nd watch of this video, I've come to the realisation that the Canadian system for adoption works really well, taking into account how well all the 5 siblings turn out to be. Congratulations Di-Anne for raising the 2 girls into fine young ladies. Canada oh Canada - what a great country you are! 😍
@ldaniel888
@ldaniel888 9 ай бұрын
well, that isn't quite the case. Many adoptions are closed. And why isn't there more support for parents struggling to take care of their families. There is the 60s scope, when Indigenous children were forcibly removed from their Indigenous families. Most were good families, but didn't live up to Canadian standards. For instance, a grandmother was raising her grandchildren in the traditional way. They lived in a loving family. One day a social worker came to visit and saw what she said was dirty rags hanging from the rafters of the log house. Except they weren't rags, they were elk meat drying in the rafters, that have always been done that way for many generations. Today, Indigenous children are the majority of children in care. Some say it is another version of residential schools IE forced assimilation (aka cultural genocide). Sure there are many loving adoptive and foster homes, but there are many who use the system to make money. And many abusive. So best to keep families together or at the very least let the children know their biological families as they grow up. If the birth parents are beyond redemption re: addiction, well, there are grandparents, cousins, aunties and uncles. Respect these young people and their adopted parents. But they know nothing about their culture and their history. It shouldn't be one or the other.

Wow! We have so much in common! I was adopted by Christian Caucasian family as well,grew up in Southern California. I’m Korean as well,with my three biological sisters. I’m called the Korean cowboy since everyone hears my loud country music in my truck! Like you,it was hard growing up in a private Christian school with all Caucasians. But I has loving parents and had a wonderful upbringing! Stay safe and always follow your heart!

Yes, I always feel they could invest in the biological parents having the therapy and support they needed to be better parents and adopt the mum and children, not just the children. They don't know for sure what their mum went through or why she could not care for them and yet they are so forgiving of their father who was AWOL. Maybe they know more about mum than we do or maybe emotionally they can't imagine accepting her when they are so close to their adoptive mum, but she only adopted five, not all, and when babies are born biological parents don't make that choice. I think no one can imagine making space for bio mum. Sad. Perhaps she would destabilize them, but cps isn't often that kind once you are in their radar.
@b.boston8529
@b.boston8529 Жыл бұрын
Yes, mum had a whole family who loved them too, and I don't think they want to imagine that she is also human and maybe loved them as much as their dad or more because he seems to have been AWOL, he sounds irresponsible, and we don't truly know mum's issues or suffering or truth. They don't want to betray adoptive mum or themselves by accepting that perhaps their adoption was unfair to their bio mum.
