16:55 -- That's the face I make whenever there's a new sale on books or games going on. "But this will save me money down the line" I say as I add more media to my cart despite having stacks of unplayed games and unread books. The Earthsea Cycle is great and so was Binti. I suspect you'll enjoy them. Also, if you're looking to read more sci-fi, I'd recommend A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge, Carl Sagan's Contact, Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age, and Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary (which I've probably recommended before because I can't stop running my mouth about it).
@IasminaEdina2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the recommendations! Yeah I need to get on Project Hail Mary, it's on my list to read this year for sure, I have the audiobook for a while now. And yeah sales make my wallet cry 😅. That's how I ended up with a lot of those ebooks: "Ooh a 99cent sale on all these books I wanted anyway, let's get ALL OF THEM." Suffice to say I will not be buying any more books for a while now though, since I have more than enough.

Oh I read Binti for college, in 2020 It was a good time, brought up some questions on mortality and right and wrong etc

Yup, the first book + first short story were really good so hoping to finish the entire series soon 😊

Thank you for this amazing book haul! I started reading again a few years ago thanks to your videos and I have never regretted all the suggestions you have given to date. Love your taste in books, I'm definitely gonna try(buy) some of these! :) Dragon Mage looks very appealing!

I, too, feel swamped after watching this video. That's a great haul, Iasmina! Looking forward to your review on Binti and the Sanderson books you got. Cheers! 🥰🤓😍

😅 Sorry haha I realised as I sat down to film this video just how many books I had acquired since summer and got overwhelmed lol. Think it's time for a book buying ban until I get through some of these at least.

Such a great haul Iasmina! I highly recommend Paternus. Dyrk Ashton is a great author. I’ve been wanting to read Jeremy Szal, so I’m anxious to hear what you think. I wasn’t a a fan of Broken Empire. I DNFd Prince of Thorns. I hope to check out his other stuff though.
@IasminaEdina2 жыл бұрын
Also looking forward to reading Paternus, I've watched a lot of talks with the author and he seems really cool. Good to hear you liked it! Yeah I keep hearing not so good things about Mark Lawrence now but I'll give it a go and see what I make of his books.

New book im into...hmmm. i recomend pella from k. Thiessen. Its an indie book.

Voice of War sounds so interesting! The Last Unicorn is my favorite animation movie so I should probably read the book someday. Look forward to hearing your thoughts! Hooray for Robin Hobb by the way. The first book in the Liveship Traders is the weakest one by the way so you're in for a great time. I'm so glad you picked up the Binding! So many people don't like it so I'm now nervous haha. I bought Summers at Castle Auburn recently. It's being pitched as a book for people who like Daughter of the Forest and I love that books so my expectations are VERY high
@IasminaEdina2 жыл бұрын
Oh I didn't know there was a movie of The Last Unicorn! Should probably check that out as well. And don't be nervous haha! Though I know exactly what you mean, I picked it up at my own risk 😅. Never heard of Summers at Castle Auburn but sounds good! Curious to know what you will think of it. I also of course need to read Daughter of the Forest one day 😊.
@launchedathousand2 жыл бұрын
Excited to hear your thoughts on Legends and Lattes! I saw it blow up it just sounds so fun! Just a heads up, it's not Multiple Personality Disorder anymore, its Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Once you read The Last Unicorn you must watch the movie! Like half the books you mentioned either I own, have read or want to read. The most recent book I've purchased is Atlas Six by Olivie Blake.
@IasminaEdina2 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right about DID, will make sure not to make that mistake again! Legends & Lattes is super chill at the moment, will definitely have to talk about it in a video of some sort after I'm done. Oh and Atlas Six looks really good too! But damn I need to stop buying books for a long while I think 😅.
@Nxrth20012 жыл бұрын
also, Shadow of the Gods is Norse. Malice, and the Faithful and the Fallen quartet is Celtic inspired. if you wanna learn more and get sold, really recommend Philip Chase's video about it. I liked the quartet, 7/10 for me as a whole but most people love it. Start with Malice, and read FATF first. then OBAB which is a sequel trilogy. then Shadow of the Gods.
@IasminaEdina2 жыл бұрын
You're right, I had heard FATF is Celtic but clearly didn't remember when I filmed this 😅. Thanks for the recommendation, will most likely go in publication order when I get to it!
@Nxrth20012 жыл бұрын
@@IasminaEdina absolutely. pub order is king! PS. I started watching your channel a fair few years ago. I clicked the top 10 fantasy series video the day you released it. you had different hair back then I think. been watching on and off ever since :) cheers!

Some of those books sound very interesting! My TBR is currently a bit long so i wont buy a lot of new books for a while. The next few books that I'm going to read are Hannibal by Thomas Harris, Once upon a Time in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino, Kings of the Wyld and Bloody Rose. After that I'm planning to start reading Brandon Sanderson since you have nothing but positive reviews of his books. What's a good place to start? I think Elantris is his first novel but I saw a lot of recommendations for starting with the first Mistborn trilogy or starting with Stormlight Archive. What would you day is the best starting point?
@IasminaEdina2 жыл бұрын
I also always recommend starting with Mistborn era one, then Stormlight 😊. Hope you like them! There's way more books from him out there afterwards haha. And yeah I'm also most likely going on a book buying ban now, since my TBR is ridiculous now 😅.
@Hugoblak12 жыл бұрын
@@IasminaEdina Yeah, and then he went and wrote FIVE extra novels. I also noticed he wrote a comic book series called White Sand. I think that is going on my comic book tbr 😄
@knight2_6862 жыл бұрын
The Land by Aleron Kong was the first LitRPG that I read also. I've read several other authors since then and I feel like there are better examples of the genre out there. I've read all of the Chaos Seed books but book 8 felt like a letdown, something put out just as a filler that didn't advance the story much. You might want to check out Viridian Gate Online, Eden's Gate, He Who Fights Monsters, Defiance of the Fall, and Life Reset (New Era Online). Each of these series has a little different twist to the origins of the RPG aspects of the stories. The last one, Life Reset, is a finished series with a complete story arch.
@IasminaEdina2 жыл бұрын
Awesome, thanks for the recommendations, will have to check those out!

Im with you in Stephen Leeds - so masterfully done. Same with Robin Hobb's ships series! I stay away from Mark Lawrence though - I honestly do not know how he has a following, his books are gorey and disturbing at best.
@IasminaEdina2 жыл бұрын
Ah, doesn't sound so good with Mark Lawrence then but I'm willing to give it a shot and see how I like his books.

There are far worse things to spend you hard earned money on. I walk around in used bookstores in Chicago and buy books that are older and just stack em high.. Best investment in yourself you can make. But Damn, you bought a lot. LOL!!
@IasminaEdina2 жыл бұрын
It is literally the only thing I spend money on that isn't food/other necessities lol. So I think it's fine but yeah, this is a lot. It's only when I sat down to film this video that I realised just how huge the pile was 😅. They had been steadily coming in since summer so I didn't think much about it until now. Should probably get myself on a book buying ban until I get through some of these at least.
