I hope all is well and that you’re having nothing but epic grows in your personal life, I just wanted to say to you (as I’m new to this type of growing wink, wink) personally that I have watched your videos and you are one of my absolute favorite top five people to go to on KZbin channels. You are “excellent” with your discussions on how to deal with or how to correct plant issues or how to grow, trim, feed,etc, etc as well as with your guests giving us tips showing us proof cuz talk is just talk, you have to walk the walk and that’s what you do Chris walk the walk. Some of the guests that you have on are definitely interesting to listen to and I enjoy watching just about anything you put on your channel as it has helped me with my own grow. I’ve learned some techniques I got from you and I have definitely learned quite a bit also.I feel you are an excellent teacher, just my opinion. I had to go through a lot of these cannabis growing channels to actually pick out a handful that I felt we’re legit and just not having a channel so they can show everybody how baked you can get and then try to teach me something, those channels not so much for me, although not gonna lie, can be entertaining. I have a grow on ILGM with other new type growers, kind of like cannibus kindergarten😂 I’m just usually banging gums with other people not so much things that are happening to my plant that are freaking me out and I got to go. “Oh my God somebody help me please”. The channels that I watch I feel comfortable with as it’s been kind of like a preschool for me😉 I only joined ILGMnot too long ago. Actually, it was near the latter part of my vegetative stage and just learned all these techniques and feeding and yada yada before I even registered to that website, so I have definitely had way less issues than most on that page. I am now in flower and I am very happy with how my girls has been going. I have 3 in 20 gallon pots ((2 Og kush 1 purple punch) growing indoors and they’re short and bushy as I’m trying to keep the height down, LST and using a trellis on top of feeding them nutrients and making sure my temperature humidity and VPD are right in the sweet spot which can be tricky at times however, I feel I’m doing pretty good for a first timer, ever..Keep rockin your page my friend because you are helping tons of people, always stay cool… just an unknown friend. Nice broad coverage Chris. I’d like to help the audience with a light dimming schedule that works well assuming it’s a dimmable LED powerful enough to work well through flower. 30” above canopy, 25% first 3 weeks seedling. Move it up to stay 30” above and go 50% until end of week 2 flower. Raise it to 30” again and turn it up to 75% until the end of week 5 flower then blast it to 100% till harvest. It’s how WWGT recommends it and it seems to work well universally in general.

i am growing organically. with dry amendments. here is a good tip. If you don’t want to buy those expensive pots with the liners, you can just use your own fabric pots. you can cut a piece of that white Tyvek house wrap that you see in construction before they put the siding on the building. It’s basically like a piece of Gore-Tex. It doesn’t let water in in one direction, but it lets air out the other direction so it lets it breathe and it’s waterproof, you just put that inside out and wrap it around the outside of the pot secure with a strip of gorilla tape and you have yourself a pot liner. The reason you put it inside out is because it will keep the moisture in and also let a little bit of air in so I can breathe. you can buy a small roll of it at the hardware store that you can do pots for the rest of your life.

I don’t believe it will . I’ve been using this method the past couple years and haven’t had any problems. It’s probably similar to the same material they use in the liners . they never really get wet. They’re on the outside of the pot I don’t think they would leach

I like to use Aloe for silica. It also contains saponins and a host of other beneficial compounds. "Active components with its properties: Aloe vera contains 75 potentially active constituents: vitamins, enzymes, minerals, sugars, lignin, saponins, salicylic acids and amino acids."

Topped a couple autos lately and I'm not sure why ppl say you can't top them? Topped a Gorilla Cookie from Fastbuds and LST'ed and defoliated heavy... it was the best results I have ever seen. 6 monster mains and it never slowed down once and I gave it every form of stress you can while training.

You should do an episode on Active Aeration Organic growing. Its basically just burying an airstone w line in the bottoms of your soil pots. Sooo many benefits from increased yield to eliminating opportunities for anaerobic bacterial growth et al. Jah Love!!

Hi everyone, I got a little question; maybe one of you can help me: Is it possible to pollinate females selectively? So for instance just one branch and not the entire plant. My thought behind it is to have both from the same plant: A large and hopefully good yield of buds as well as some seeds to continue. Thanks in advance!

Put the pollen in a plastic bag to fit over the branch. Slide it over the branch. Tape the end at the base as air tight as possible and shake the branch around. Let it finish flowering and harvest that branch when the seeds are ripe. It may ripen faster than the rest of the plant. ........I think

For clones I use the root riot plugs with a heat Matt on 15 min off 15 min with clonex gel and clonex solution..soak your plugs in solution mix beforehand and should take about 7 or 8 days to see roots in a dome

So i was thinking about the whole sativa indica thing and ive learnt that when a seed company says a strain is 60% indica and 40% sativa they actually mean if you grow 10 plants 6 will be indica and 4 will be sativa. Never both at the same time. Just thought id mention it. Happy to chat more about it

You can make a sativa plant have more of an Indica effect by letting it bloom longer resulting in more amber trichomes. Or you can harvest a Indica plant early and it will have more of a sativa affect. 😉

I am a firm believer that the best source of light for plants is the source that they have adapted to use. To me, it seems like the most natural method while also being able to control humidity and moisture. I just don’t know all the ins and outs of building or operating a greenhouse. How would you do it? I bought a roll of cheap house wrap (generic tyvek) and cut it into strips then stapled them around the outside of the fabric pots leaving the bottom exposed, makes them dry out more uniform, I only do this if I’m trying to really max out the size in a particular pot, this will allow the roots to grow all the way to the edge, but still leave the bottom exposed and up off the ground using a metal bed frame so I can slide a bin under to catch water, if your plant isn’t gonna max out the pot don’t do it cuz it just makes it dry slower and you want dry/wet dry/wet in veg to grow the roots, this is just to finish filling the whole bag once it’s maxed out

AGSil16 is pure silica, 100% water soluble. Very alkaline though, I needed to double my ferment (2oz/gal to 4oz/gal) in order to offset the mix when AGSil is added

The volcanic tuft, that is available at Build A Soil, is another great source for silica.. Just add it to the amendments when you're re-amending your media. Just the improvement in the sturdiness of the plant is worth it. The difficulty in LST begin to occur far earlier in growth. It takes quite a bit of rolling and pressure. It's also my general impression that the stems or significantly thicker at the same stage of life. Just like a good strong root structure is key to plant growth and production, so is a good strong upper structure. It can also be used to totally eliminate a gnat problem by being as a barrier. It is far more water permeable than using diatomaceous earth and tends to stay more moist than DE. Now, I won't use it in this fashion in an organic grow., it does work quite excellent in a vegan based fertilizer such as Mega Crop. Here also helps moisture retention when using Rain Science bags. It tends to give a MUCH more even drive down versus without it, as a quick dry on the top.

Hey in terms of silica, there's actually a number of ways you can get this, and some of them can be really cheap. You can get products with them already incorporated, but I prefer to add them as components of the soil up front. Diatomaceous Earth is a solid IPM additive, and I'd a good silica source. If you're an organic grower, maybe you've bought insect frass (bug exoskeletons essentially), the hardness of their shells come from silica. You can also just buy salts or potassium silicate and other stuff, but I haven't tried these

I am curious, I hope it isn't a dumb question. Why do people not look at lux meters for lights. They are far less money and there are ways to calculate the par or you look up a chart that shows the range of lux you would benefit from at different stages of growth. I’m so glad I bought a lux meter. I grew the first year without one and definitely damaged plants trying to learn to read them. There are charts on the lux range to use which makes it easier than converting. It’s made all phases of growing better and took the guess work out of distance and light intensity. It was money well spent. ~$30

And yeah in my fabric pots with living soil I tried to put a few worms but when the soil dries a bit too much they crawl out and die. And every time I water during flower, RH shoots up to 70-75 for ~18h it's quite annoying.

Honestly the runoff PPM doesn't matter in organic soil because you're not measuring what the plant uptakes you're measuring what's in the soil and there is much more in the soil than what the plant uptakes. Plus if you water to runoff you're gonna wash out all the good stuff out of your organic living soil in the case of a supersoil like mine. Just water more often on the safe side.

Can you use local maple syrup, or possibly the sediment from the sugaring process, in a similiar way as molasses to feed simple sugars to your soil/microbes? I havent tried it, just saw some articles and wanted to see what your thoughts on it were :) thank you and love the vids! they've been extremely helpful in my first outdoor run this summer

Molasses is just so much cheaper I bought two bottles of it years ago and you only need a teaspoon diluted into a few gallons I still have a full bottle left

clawing and toxicity in living soil....seed a new cover crop to eat some nitrogen and put a bunch of chopped straw on top and work it in gently into your top inch and water.. the break down of the straw uses nitrogen and locks it up for a while

Hello Chris, i have a question...im just now in week 5 of flower and noticed all fan leaves drooping when arrived home from work.. Read the cause is overwatering..last watered 3 days ago and soil is dry when sticking half my hand in soil.. What should i do?

@@legacyAF I’ve used them on almost all my grows. they great for terpenes and trichome development as the buds cure. and you don’t have to burp like you would do in jars. just make sure your temp when you put it in the bags is 65-70 and humidity is 55-62 percent and you are good with grove bags. trust me they are the truth and the future of curing.

The smell can definitely be strong when in flowering. If you get a carbon filter it will help hide the smell :)

A question about clones. When you take a clone during flower that clone seems to lose it's original symmetry. If you take a clone of the clone that is in veg will it return to the normal symmetry?

I've heard green beans have silica in them, actually they have the most compared to any other vegetable...I wonder if u blended them down in water then drench. Anyone ever try this?

I got a nice rooted clone of Chery Cosmo given to me but it was potted in crappy soil . It was under full spectrum led and I put it in full sunlight after a week of same led 24 hrs . It turned yellowish then hints of purple but looks good. I transplant it to good soil . Why did it turn purple

The “good” soil might be too good and the plant is too small to deal with how hot the dirt is, too much fertilizer for a small plant can kill them, let them get bigger before you try the “good” dirt, I used to have this problem but I’ve reused this dirt about 5 times without adding anything and my clones take perfect in it now, I just need to amend once I flip

I was just wondering if it's because he has an out dated heat pump or mabe extra $100 a month to drop the heat 5 degrees is a big deal. Started an open pollination (aka pollen chuck by keeping a male after switching to 12/12). How long should I keep the male alive? Thanks!

Keep it there until all the female plants have been fully pollinated. You can tell by the pistles when they all curl up and shrivel. Then you must wait a full 8 weeks for the seeds to fully mature. I hope this helps.

Ryan Knorr is a lawncare guy. He has bottles of silica for sale. I don't know what sources he uses to make it. It may not be organic. It helps lawn blades take wear and tear, by stengthening the cell walls, so grass blades pop back up. I have not purchased any, and don't have an opinion on the stuff yet. He has other products as well, some of which I dont recommend, and some that are great, so take it for what its worth. 🙏🇨🇦👊🏻👨‍🌾💖🍁♻️🍁

It's pretty clean what PAR should be run at various stages of the plant's life. It's not ambiguous. For example 800ish for flower in PAR unless you got CO2. Any more is just wasting your money. In the end I bought a second hand PAR Meter just to know exactly where I was.
