"Those are cheese-it's, these are Triscit size!" LOL! Don't get a PRS Silver Sky. For the same price as a Silver Sky with a case from Sweetwater you could get an Inverness green Epiphone classic worn SG, a classic vibe 50's tele, a Danelectro baritone, an Epiphone Dot 335, a Classic Vibe 60's Strat, and a Gretsch Streamliner or an Epi Les Paul special in TV yellow with p90s. That's a pretty complete electric guitar collection that covers a lot of sounds for any studio and the microphone doesn't care what you paid for something or what name is on the headstock!

Love all these studio tours man! Keep them coming. As for a new guitar... I bought ( from SW ) a PRS LTD Les Paul style - active EMG humbuckers and pro Floyd Rose, six months ago. It is AMAZING. Harmonic overtones and sustain for days. Not as heavy as a Gibson (plus for me) and they set everything up how I wanted it. Pulled it outta the box, very quick tune and bam! Oh... nevermind. You're looking to spend almost twice what I did... good luck!

Ooooh guitar hunting! My favourite thing to blow money on. If you need a workhorse versatile guitar, definitely look at the Musicman Cutlass HSS - no noise pickups, best feeling necks in the industry (for my hands), impeccable build quality, all the tones you could ever need for modern music between the bridge humbucker and two single coils. PRS is great, of course, but if you're going to go with them, I'd go for something distinctly "PRS sounding" like the Paul's Guitar or the DGT; both also incredibly versatile guitars that layer really nicely with other common studio guitars that your session cats will probably already be bringing with them (i.e. strat, tele, les paul, SG, 335), but still have a distinctive tone that can add flavour to your mixes rather than just doubling.

The prs silver sky is a great guitar!!! it would look so cool in your studio, it is totally worth the investment, but be shure to have a great amp for it, get your favorite color and id personnally prefer rosewood than maple fingerboards, but thats up to you!!

Hi Andrew. Another great tour! So many nuggets in this I'm going to follow-up. If you're serious about looking at a guitar-definitely check out Reverend. What I love about their guitars (I have 3, in addition to a Les Paul and a 72 Deluxe Tele) is that they are super versatile. The bass contour knob (which is pretty consistent across the range) is mad. If you're looking for a super-versatile Fender-style rig, check them out. The Kingbolt RA is my go-to. But I have a Charger 290 and Double Agent also, all are fab.

If you do mostly recording, I suggest any multiscale or true temperament from Strandberg. The ergonomics can't be beat and PRSs sound thin, shrill and trebly.

It's hard to say for sure what sort of guitar is best for you, but I'm a big fan of my Gibson ES-335. Sounds great, feels great, and can be used for a load of different styles!

Get the fender custom shop Stratocaster troposphere. It’s a hard tail Stratocaster that has a beautiful distressed sunburst finish. My dream guitar is the fender custom shop telecaster thin line ‘72 heavy relic. Two humbuckers, six saddle vintage hard tail bridge, beautiful maple neck. I need it so bad.

Get a Fender Telecaster, minimalist joy and very versatile!

I'm a guitar nut. Depending on what you currently have my recommendation would be to have a long range plan of where you want to be with your studio as far as tools for the trade. I'd definitely have a double Humbuckers guitar either a LP or a 335 ($3K-$5K). I'd have a good telecaster frankly for the money a Mexican made one and upgrade the pick ups to Lindy Fralin Blues Specials ($1.2K w/pups). A great Strat ...but, not what you think...silver sky's are great etc but for the money the Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 is sick for the money ($900). Lastley, I'd go old school...I found a 1973 Gretsch Clipper with two HiLo Tron pups with Bigsby tremolo. These four guitars and and great acoustic (don't skip here- my favorites are Taylor 410ce, Martin OM-28 or Gibson J45 ($2K-$3K). That would get you any tone you'd need in a home studio in my opinion. Chart your way out a few years and start building your pallet just like drums!!

I like the cleanliness of his studio,- in such a small space it´s almost a given and he makes very good use of what available to him. Nice. Might subscribe to him just for the dad jokes. :) New guitar for you,- several options depending on what you want it for. Classics would be something Fender-like ( you´ve already got that- your Squier, remember?) so Les Paul, Tele and an Archtop or ES335 would be self-evident. For something more modern/ contemporary: Esp/Ltd, Schecter, Ibanez, - no, they´re not just for metal....depending on which model... some of them are. :) Out of this world: Mayones, Vigier, Strandberg come to mind. Consider going for an extended range instrument,- that is 7-, 8- or 9 string, preferably with either fanned frets layout or maybe even with an actual true temperament fretboard,-.... Would that be with or without a scalloped fretboard and possibly extra frets inserted for microtonal options.....? Perhaps an Uli Jon Roth Design Sky Guitar,- for the connaisseur, sir...... ? Your choice,- ...we aim to please...... sir,.....:)

i might be a little late.... PRS silver sky is an incredible guitar. Recommendation wise, it depends on what you want to do with the guitar. I've seen your studio video and seen what you have and I think a '61 Gibson SG with the tremolo system would fill a nice gap in your current collection.

I've got an EBMM JP15 and a PRS CE24 that are simply glorious. I don't think you could go wrong with either. I'd stay away from new Gibson, the value for money just isn't there anymore (I own multiple, not a hater, just a realist).
