I'm a huge huge fan of natto and I eat at least a pack everyday! But I didn't know there were so many different types of natto until now! I would love to try some of the rare types of natto! I wish more people from outside of Japan would get their hands more often on natto, despite all of the negative images that most of they have! This tiny little natto offers so many health benefits than you can never expect! Ps: it's one of the secret food contributing to Japanese's long life expectancy! ✨

I know it looks gross to most non japanese people but to me it looks sooo good. I could watch you mixing natto and making it slimier and slimier for hours!
@giggles23027 жыл бұрын
I've tried natto, and being Western, I liked the flavor but had some trouble with the slime. Mixing it with some rice helps, but it's still really slimy. The flavor is nice, though. I've eaten it with furikake, mustard, green onion, bonito flakes, bacon, cheese, but not at the same time, lol. The cheese kind of cuts the sliminess a bit. The bacon & cheese goes well with the natto. I don't know if anyone else has had it with bacon and/or cheese, and maybe that's considered disgusting, but I liked it. That with rice made for a filling breakfast. :)

Cuppy Duppy I made my husband try natto when we went home to Okinawa and he said he couldn't get past the slimey-ness. The texture for him was the problem. He said the taste wasn't so bad (I think he was just trying to impress my family though lol) You should try it! I grew up with it so I can't say much but why not? At least once! :)

Hi Satoshi! Hi Shinichi! I just had my first taste of natto thanks to you (and emmymadeinjapan). I thought it was interesting. The texture is definitely something I’m not used to, but it wasn’t off putting... just different. The aroma and flavor was savory, similar to a Parmesan or Gouda cheese. I had it with the seasoning packet, rice, green onion, and sriracha. I had a side of kimchi for added tang and crunch. Delicious! 😋 Not bad for my first try!

Interesting to see different type and flavor of natto! I’m just starting to try to eat Natto. It’s hard to eat initially due to strong smell and taste. Natto consumption is quite a challenge even for me. As I grew up loving duck's blood soup, a traditional food from my ethnic background. My Dad (rip) was also a merchant seaman, so trying uniquely different foods and beverages was an adventure in itself. Frog legs, escargot, caviar; or more accurately the numerous varieties of fish roe available at a Japanese market, were always something special. Even what some may call bugs, Korean beondegi, (silkworm pupae, that oddly enough look like a popular brand of breakfast cereal) was tasty, straight out of the can. It was like eating (mulberry) leaves. Our next bug challenge would have been Thai non mai phai (bamboo caterpillar, when deep-fried, looks & tastes like french fries). Taste wise, none of these foods were too difficult. Smell wise, however, there is a Chinese liquor that comes to mind, namely baijiu, that did exhibit a foul aroma to many, yet it never bothered me. At my local shops at times there is some bemusement that I am purchasing such. Distilled from sorghum, yet other east Asian liquors are from rice, sweet potato, tapioca, and even peas. A healthy serving vegetables in everything. Try Korean sweet corn ice cream; carrot, broccoli, or mulberry candy, and of course red bean anything. But as far as natto goes, I am working on it. As Dad said, eat it because it's good for. Yogurt, bleu cheese, and buttermilk are other examples of fermented foods.

Libni Acevedo thank you, I'm just starting out on making soy products, experimenting daily, it's a new lease of life, after being sluggishly overweight I came to pick upon the blood type diet and began to implement it which after a few weeks and half way through Ramadan has brought me here, Muhammed peace be upon him said to "seek knowledge even should it necessitate going to China", I'm here in Nottingham UK feeling on top of the world as though my dining room sits on top of a mountain and the kitchen taps are approached as though going to a holy fountain, in other words consciousness is elevated over and above worldly stuff and matter as I clear and plough through, 'fen shui style' all the heaps of clutter...every day is on a new creation and this page, this day, is a new beginning to a new life of being consciously aware of being 'we are what we eat' and how our mind, body and spirit appreciate the best foods to help us grow mentally, spiritually and physically, thank you for your informative and motivating presentation, all the best and Peace be upon you.
