Mix some mineral spirits in with the beeswax and buff it onto the wood while still liquid, it'll absorb into the pores of the wood and wont just be a surface waterproofing. I did this with my coffee and dining room tables.

Hey an epic mug you got there! And really nice chiselling work on the front! I got a question concerning the waxing and making it waterproof. Can you tell if the wax ist resistant to sparkling and hot beverages like beer and hot tea because I heard the wax would dissolve from time to time? You pour some kind of beer into the mug, have you made any good or bad experiences?
@EpicWorkshop8 жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis, when the mug has been waxed it is used usually for cold beverages and not for hot beverages. For hot beverages the mug has metal hoops around and it's been soaked in water for it to expand thus becoming waterproof. Probably the wax will dissolve anyways but i am not worried because it`s food safe, and the beer has wonderful honey taste to it. Cheers

@EpicWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much bro :) I don`t have measures of the mug but you need to divide the circle to (how many pieces you want) lets say 12 pieces, so when you divide the 360 with 12 you will get an angle 30 degrees and you divide that with 2 and get 15 degrees, so you have 12 pieces of the mug and on each piece you need to have 15 degree angle on both sides so when you connect all of the pieces you will have circle with 12 points, I got 13 pieces because my friend messed up the math so I was adjusting (planing, sanding, fitting, and again)...for 3 hours, so be precise when you get into that project :) Have a nice day :3 Moris P.S. hope that you understand

How did figure out what angle to cut the sides? I know hah, prob a noob question!

Not a noob question... You divide the circle (360 degrees) you draw by pieces you want to have (12) and then you divide what you got (30) in half and you have an angle (15°) you have to cut the each piece. I hope you understand hah because I didn't do it this way, i didn't know it at the time, I drew the mug with rulers super precisely and took the measurements from the paper 😉
