@@Nyelands guess! Running form means nothing. There are some exceptional runner with "unconventional" form. It's a sufficient, not a necessary condition at most. That would be the kind of evidence that could be the basis for a serious prediction.

That course is so unnerving! It is a disaster waiting to happen. Not just for competitors, but for other park users! It shows the lack of awareness, common sense and common decency that (some) athletes (with their racing line), and other park users who see hundreds of runners moving at speed, but choose to have multiple dogs off leads, or just ambling along, cutting right across the athletes who are running. Yes the park is for all, but it feels at times some people go out of their way to prove that point even if it endangers others and avoid just enjoying the spectacle. THE NEW KIT ROCKS!!!!

Hi I’m 13 years old a girl. I run a 5k in 20:34 but I really want to get sub 20 mins. Please can you tell me how I can achieve that goal 😊
@fastandfluent4 ай бұрын
You are really close already. 50 seconds off and you're a Sub-20er. That's 10s per km. Probably continue doing exactly what you have been doing. The only thing I would do differently is over the peak time of my planning, I'd reduce the resting time on my 1k, 1.5k and 2k intervals. Let's say in the first week I was doing 6 x 1000 with 2' rest at the desired pace. I'd then do the same training, but rest only 1min20secs. Three or two weeks before the race, I'd try to reduce to 1 minute or 40 seconds. This is how I improve my 5ks. I don't use the same for distances over 10k, though. This will make you more resistant to the desired race pace.
