Thanks for this first impression. I really want to get this bike as well. I am also coming from an MT07, but I need to sell the MT07 first before being able to buy the XSR900

Fun watching you get to know your new beast! It’s such an excellent bike. Just wait until you try out D mode 1 with TCS off. It’s Wild! I’m not suggesting you leave it like that but at least try it once 😁 Enjoy and Ride safe man.

I got this bike for the looks, the seat position on naked bikes and the tech cause it was my first bike and what learned on. Ride mode 4 was my home for 6 months and after i went up a mode, it felt like a whole new bike! Tip : PLEASE practice your slow speed turns, it made this bike perfect for a commute bike. I barely use my truck

I rode it hard out the gate. Did oil and filter change at 200 miles and I'm gonna call that the break in lol some sites were saying 2.85 quarts and some say 3.85. So I ended up putting 4quarts and then having to drain one. So be aware of that it's 2.85 with filter change.

I also noticed the first couple of days the brakes felt underwhelming. Yesterday I finally took it to twisty roads I'm at about 400 miles on the odo and the brakes feel great. I'd say do some heavy braking drills to make sure your pads seat well. They really improve after a few.

I had the same first impression. First few times using them I was shocked at how bad they were. Then I became aware of them working a LOT better as time went on. I think the rotors may have some shipping smeg on them.

My only gripe is from 1st to second and from second to first I hit neutral alot. I think I had the same problem on my r1 and the solution was just pushing the shifter harder for those gear changes. So likely user error just frustrating to be rolling 30mph stuck in neutral and I don't want to damage anything by forcing into gear.
@Kmoto530
@Kmoto530 Жыл бұрын
I also noticed it’s hard to find neutral compared to my mt07. The mt07 is buttery smooth and so far while on the XSR I need to hunt for neutral. I did find it’s much easier to go into neutral from 2nd than it is from 1st.

He didn't say neutral was hard to find. He said it's too easy if anything.

SICK! I've been wanting to get this bike for the last year but my buddies that I ride with convinced me to get a dual sport so we can go off roading together so I am torn.. just waiting for the 2024 models to come out I guess since I am not in a rush but man I really want to get this bike.

I'm also 5'8" and 165lb! And I've been wondering if this bike would be good for me. I'm a beginner, but wanna start riding it with slower modes. Not sure if this bike would be fine for me, but it looks amazing.

If you’ve never ridden a motorcycle I’d probably recommend the xsr700 but if you’re dead set on this bike I’d keep it in drive mode 4 and slowly progress as you get more comfortable.

@@Kmoto530hahaha I already got the XSR700, and I've been riding it for 10 days already. It feels amazing, but it kind of get stuck from first to second gear. I'll need to take it to the dealer for checking. Any thoughts?
@Kmoto530
@Kmoto530 9 ай бұрын
@AdrianRConant is it brand new or used?
@AdrianRConant
@AdrianRConant 9 ай бұрын
@@Kmoto530it's brand new. I don't have problems with 3, or 4 gear. It's just the second which, it's hard to shift to. It gets me into trouble in stop lights. I'm not sure if I'm shifting roughly, or if there's something wrong with the transmission. I felt that since the beginning but I thought it was me due my lack of experience, but now it's clear it's not me, I think.
@Kmoto530
@Kmoto530 9 ай бұрын
@AdrianRConant hmm 🤔 if it’s still under warranty I’d have the dealer take a look at it. You can also double check the clutch cable to ensure there is proper amount of free play

thanks for this video! I want this bike so bad...I could afford it, however, I still have a nice but boring CB650R that is restricted to 48hp. In one year I'm able to de-restrict it and it certainly will feel a lot better having twice the power, but I fell in love with 3-cyl bikes and I think the XSR900 will be my next bike in one to two years time :)

Thanks! You’ll love the bike. It’s a blast and looks amazing. I was lucky to find one myself. I was about to buy an mt09 when I saw this bike which was recently added to the dealer’s website and was last on the list. I immediately called and put a deposit on it.

hey!@@Kmoto530 I'm seeing your comment 6 months late lol :D but I decided that after the driver's exam on my restricted CB650R, I'll test (and probably buy) the XSR900 this summer/autumnmn. The exam is approximately 6 months away, which means I'll get my hands on one in almost exactly the time from now since I commented on your video. Time flew by fast! So I hope summer will come just as fast :) I also saw your most recent video and I'm glad you got your bike fixed and didn't sell it :))

Looks so much better in person hey. Just brought the black. People don't realise that the biggist criticism is the look of the seat and yet it's really the thing that is amazing and grows on you. Especially from the back. The comfort of seat is crap. Its only flaw thus far.
@Kmoto530
@Kmoto530 Жыл бұрын
I agree. I will probably end up getting a comfort seat for it. The stock seat is pretty stiff after about 30-40 minutes of riding.

@@Kmoto530 ye I guess a Brembo calliper and steel oil lines would really make a difference. I recently rode a Triumph St. Triple and a Guzzi V100 Mandello and both of them had a far superior braking performance. I guess a radial Brembo master cylinder on its own is not enough you need the full setup

Great engine on this bike, I think I liked the instrument clock better on the old one, they should just have made it a bit bigger and clearer. Wish also that Yamaha went all out on suspension on a bike like this and made the quality of the switch gear more premium, We don’t need more that 120hp on our public roads, just spend the money on quality suspension and engine and people will buy it for long term. Ps. Check the guy riding the xsr in Prague, he is nuts, but the sound is sublime 😂

How does the bike handle on highway on windy days? I ride a 2020 mt-07 and it does not feel stable at all on highway whenever it is any bit windy. And how does the seating position feel? Is it a lot more sporty? Does the leg feel comfortable around the tank?
@Kmoto530
@Kmoto530 Жыл бұрын
I would say it’s just as windy as the mt07 but it’s much more stable. Plus with the cruise control it makes it easier to rest your right hand. The seating position is more sporty. I find the mt07 much more comfortable in that aspect
@newbierides
@newbierides Жыл бұрын
@@Kmoto530 ah thanks. I'm selling my MT-07 because every now and then I ride on the fwy to commute and when it is windy if feels scary, I have to ride slower than traffic because if I hit the throttle the wind throws me all over the place. I'm looking into this bike and the cb650r
@Kmoto530
@Kmoto530 Жыл бұрын
@newbierides I don’t have any experience on the 650r but I do prefer the xsr over the mt07 on the highway. Good luck 👍🏼

@@Kmoto530 the CB is over 40lb more than the MT which supposedly makes it a lot smoother on the highway, it also has less torque at low rpm but more torque at high rpms.
