Awesome! I used to go and borrow my school's Pacers on a Saturday and go for a trip around the islands. Great fun.

One of if not the most popular beach cat in the world. Plenty out there laid with cobwebs that need TLC and water ;)

I replaced my 16 tramp with that exact same turquoise. Nice colour. Top sailing. How long did it take to get to Moreton Island? I sailed 30 years ago, but still have the bug. Pity a work accident destroyed my body. I used to own a 14 with jib as well. Oh the memories.

Martin the turquoise tramp is original from 2007 so its getting close to needing replacement. Unfortunately i'm pretty sure Hobie only sell black and gray atm but there might be some turquoise ones hidden somewhere. Time to Moreton is dependant on so many variables as you can appreciate. Fastest time however is around 45min from Woody Point which is another one of my videos here. We have some H14t's in our group - they're certainly getting old but still sail well!

Thanks Seth, be sure to check out my other vids man. Btw, your vids are pretty awesome too. Love the dugong one sailing the Laser. You need to upgrade to a beach cat thou ;) hahaha
@Aerial8125 жыл бұрын
Matt O'Brien I was actually between a Hobie 18 and the Laser 2 this time. The Laser 2 is a better fit for now, but I’m still tempted to add a beach cat to the fleet. They are a lot of fun!

I noticed you coil the sheet in your sheeting hand. You should try temporarily holding the sheet with your steering hand and rapidly pulling with your sheet hand. That way it's also easier to let it out as well.

Nice. See, the Hobies (16, and even 18, which I have) sail so much better and like they should single-handed. Otherwise you're plowing the leeward hull under the water so much, just from the weight alone. They are really not designed properly for 2 people, although obviously it is a lot more tricky having to work the jib, especially on the 16. (On the 18, the jib tacks a lot easier- it doesn't get caught up on the mast, and also the boat goes through a tack more easily, especially in high wind) Great to see the boat sailing along and being trimmed like it should.

so it's ok to buy a 16 for sailing by myself then? I think they're hard to right by yourself?
