I’ve always felt bad for Polyphemus. He was just a simple Cyclops shepherding his sheep then suddenly some humans broke into his cave while he was gone and looted it and to add insult to injury killed some of his sheep. Yes he may have overreacted by eating some of them but I’d be mad if someone stole from my house and killed my pets.

I love that the actual story is put in this for the unknowing The hero and his fleet stumbled on this island with the cyclops on it they found its sheep in the cave the cyclops closed the entrance with a huge boulder the hero gave their wine to the cyclops in return he would eat him last the hero gives the name nobody becouse names have power they wait till pohilemus the cyclops sleeps and make a stake with their swords and stab it in pohilemus eye he Wakes up intaraged a few houres later he goes to het his sheep out of the cave the hero and his crew hijack on the underside of the sheep. But when the hero left he shouted his name and so polihemus called for his dad posidon tho curse his trip on the sea. Please correct mistakes im not that good at this its just this specific story

odysseus and his crew actually went to the cave to ask for permission to take a few sheep, as they were relying on an old greek tradition of hospitality. Unfortunately Polyphemus stated he was above that and the gods, then proceeded to block the cave and butcher his crew twice a day for soup.
