EPIC TOW CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP

Couple drove to Beards Hollow and walked out to Fishing Rock . Great place to fish but if you do not watch the tide you will get stuck on the rock with 200 feet of water between you and the mainland . The couple had locked up their Rav4 right next to a rock outcropping . I wasn't going to drive my truck out in the Ocean to recover the SUV . After looking the scene over I decided that if we were careful we could winch it up and over the little outcropping . With Taylor's help we winched the truck up and over . I had to move my truck a couple times to kick the front end over enough to clear a couple sharp rocks sticking out . Surf rescue got the folks off the rock about 3 hours later and a deputy brought them to my shop to retriever their 4x4 . Got it out with no damage to the tires or body . Fun tow and a good learning experience .Thanks for watching

When I was young, I had a real Jeep, and used to drive on the beach all the time. I also had a Toyota truck, and drove it on the beach too. Don't think I ever got stuck. Now I drive a Rav4. It's a great car for the snow, but there's no way I would drive it on a beach. I know my limits. It's 17 years old and has been super reliable, but it's not an off-roader like my Jeep was.

bro, drive it on the beach! I have a 2001 rav4 and it loves the beach! Mine is gutted and has a few power adders but nothing major, the older rav's are pretty damn capable. I go to a spot here in Australia called "Double Island Point" and it's notorious for destroying vehicles but it's pretty common to see older rav's out there. I've seen newer models out there but they are usually being snatched out of the sand..

Jordan Carmichael i once saw a van full of japanese students (fwd and none spoke english) they got half a car length on the beach and sunk(soft sand here) and then just kept flooring it on and off for ten minutes while sticking their hand under the spinning tire to add sand and sweatshirts. I imagine a hefty fine for no 4wd, no required equipment and no beach permit

Awesome job. Many. You know your stuff. Saved that guys car. I got stuck in a lake bed in Tennessee in the winter. 2001 Ford Expedition. My truck was sunk down on one side. But the suction was so bad that it took him two times to pull me out. He used the hydraulics of the flat bed to lift me up and out. I learned my lesson.

+MetaView7 Will never know . They didn't speak english . I did talk to there daughter though via cell phone . She translated for me . I do not think the couple realized how close to dying they were . If they had made an attempt to get to shore the outcome would have been disastrous . There daughter was a great deal of help . I hope that there insurance company will pay for a portion of the tow as we saved the car from being a total losss . It was in the surf but never got over the bottom of the rims . Another hour and the water would have pushed the car up onto the rocks and the waves would have been 4 to 5 feet deep where they were parked

+David Sonnen Taylor first comment when we got on scene was Threading the needle . It would have been a lot more difficult if I hadn't had help . Taylor setting the emergency brake and holding the brakes made the recovery a lot easier . If I had been by myself it would have been a much harder recovery .

Exactly, he could've easily left it there and made more money for the recovery after the tide went back down but he didn't. Worst of all are the idiots in the comments trying to say he damaged it during the cur scenes. They're the reason why a lot of guys would've left it there until after the tide got it. More money for a bigger job and less headaches from the peanut gallery.

There's groups of folks that do good Samaritan off-road recoveries and it would be great to learn from a pro.

+Localmotion Neither of them spoke english . We got their daughter on the phone later that night and she translated for me . I hope that the insurance company will cover the tow under comprehensive as we did tow it out of the surf .

Wow. I just googled Beards Hollow and realized I was right there where this tow happened maybe 5 yrs ago. We drove down the beach to that area but I had no idea what it was called. Just looked up pictures and have pics of that exact spot you towed this vehicle through at high tide with waves crashing through it. Amazing. Also memorable for seeing two rotting seal carcasses along the beach. ha.
