The 919 was at his peak in 2017, porsche probably had to build a new car with a new engine to challenge the toyotas if they continued of course. Toyota did that step already in 2016 with a new car and a v6 turbo that replaced the obsolete NA V8. Its still funny how a untestricted 919 can smash every record tho.

@@Devourur In 2017, the Toyota and the Porsche were mostly equally matched. However, the Toyota did have the edge. The only reason they lost that year was because of Le Mans... An unrestricted Toyota would be the same as the 919 Evo... Lighter, better aero, more power, etc...

Toyoya had it in the bag in 2017. A $10 dollar part let them down on the final lap. Would have been nice to see Porsche in LMP1 in 2018 duking it out with Toyota. Alas it didn't happen.
@Extra-dg7uv3 жыл бұрын
Toyota most definitely didn't "have it in the bag" in 2017. They lost all their cars in the night, two to mechanical failure and one to driver error. The winning Porsche, meanwhile, came back from last overall, overcame a 12 lap deficit and won the race. Your confusing it with 2016.
