What you call tacos in Ireland we call tortillas in California and Mexico. The taco is the fully assembled tortilla filled goodness. You’ve given me the boost to pull out my tortilla press and make some from scratch. My friend swears by cassava tortillas, might try those. These look amazing. ¡Viva México!

These guys have a wonderful and positive philosophy and are amazing charitable people. Just found this channel, but I know their reputation. These recipes clearly match that goodness. Brilliant and ludicrously delicious looking. On the subject of interpretation, I’ve always thought that was a big feature of mexican food is that everyone has a different way of doing it (each one of them being the best way) and that’s sort of ingrained in the spirit of what are essentially simple templates to work from.

I made this and IT WAS AMAZING!!!!! I loved everything about it, especially how easy it was. I bought a tortilla press just to make fresh corn tortillas too and it was well worth it. The only thing I didn't do exactly is the salsa because my cucumber went bad but I managed with a jar of salsa boosted with fresh ingredients. It was so fun to make and I'm planning on making it again next week! I would love to see other taco variations. Muchos gracias!!!

I am absolutely going crazy trying to find what I believed you called at the time 'pandemic pantry, ikaria stew', or words to that effect. Which I made, promptly lost the copied down recipe and now cannot seem to find the video again . we're back at that time of year and I wanted so badly to make it again with our family in quarantine at the moment. I'm going to watch some other stew and soup videos but can you help me out with that particular stew because it was brilliant but best of all everybody liked it! Thank you!

I always tended to put a bit of plain flour in with my corn masa, found it made it a LOT easier to roll and deal with, plain masa breaks apart really easy when you don't have a taco press. =(

Freeze your firm tofu then thaw it and prepare. If you freeze and thaw multiple times the texture becomes even meatier.
@genemechanic67734 жыл бұрын
*Thanks for the suggestions everyone* Tofu doesn't give off that meaty texture + flavour but will try the freezing/thawing method. I guess I could also use charred portobello mushrooms as 'meat alternative'.

Is that blue corn masa? I’ve lived along the border and in mexico most of my life (I’m probably as old as both of you combined, so for a while!). That’s quite rare to see except in some fancy restaurant in the US, Usually just the white or yellow corn masa. Tortillas are heavily subsidized in Mexico so they (the government) wouldn’t spring for the more expensive blue corn. Great video. And for those that questioned the cucumber in the salsa, I’ve seen that many times in Mexico. I’ve actually seen salsas there made with most everything. Even insects. Just depends on what’s available locally with wide regional differences.

I suppose you can pop that upside down muffin pan in the oven and crisp the "tortilla" into a "taco". Love the muffin pan idea! BTW guys, although your accent is adorable, it is pronounced 'taco', as in 'tata'. At least in Texas it is!🥰

Guys. Love your channel. Am so inspired by your dishes, I have cut my meat intake and feel so much healthier! Two things made me laugh in this vid though: The Lebanese/Levantine dish you refer to is pronounced SHA-WER-MA (shah-were-ma). Ciao is Italian. Adios or hasta luego is Spanish. 😛 👏 👏 👏
OBSESSED with how you’re saying shawarma 🤣🤣 shah-wor-MAH 😂😂
@cherylrelph21544 жыл бұрын
I think they are called tortillas, not tacos. In Mexico, the tortillas are very cheap, made of corn, and are delicious when fresh. Tacos which are sold in the street for the most part, are tortillas filled with meats usually, with side dishes of onions, cabbage, guacamole, and several salsas. I have never before heard tortillas called tacos.
