Little story: The first time Simone auditioned for anything, she was 13 and it was the lead role in her school musical. She didn't get the part, because she was up against another girl who had acting lessons and was very entertaining, while Simone was nervous and stiff. But the music teacher liked her voice so much that they REWROTE THE MUSICAL so Simone could sing a song. Like, who does that? Rewrite the musical for a CHILD who had no formal singing education? Because of that music teacher, Simone started getting singing lessons and...well, we should all be very grateful.

I was there a few meter in front of me... and they realy have fun on stage. Please check also "Aeterna" and "in love we rust" official video from simone solo project featuring Ayreon. There simone is even have the choir of her own harmonies.

I've seen them live several times now. They NEVER disappoint! If you ever get the chance, go and see them. It's even better when you're there in person :)

I think the words you're looking for are 'middle eastern feel'. Song is on the 2021 Omega album. lyrics by Simone, music by Coen. It's the most recent album, but they are working on album #9. They are playing several show with orchestra this fall, maybe we'll see a new song by then. Next from EPICA? Also at this AFAS LIve 2023 show was the ballad "Rivers" feat Apocalyptica. Or from the Omega Alive virtual show , try "The Skelton Key" and "Victims of Contingency"

The AFAS was previously called HMH (Heineken Music Hall) in Amsterdam , the Netherlands, the whole show at the AFAS is amazing. Pls check it out, it also contains two song with Floor Jansen, who is besties with Simone

my favorite version of this song is from the Polandrock 2023 concert, Epica channel has the entire recording of this concert. The performance is just as epic, but at the same time there are cute moments like the guitarist’s jokes and Simone’s laughter right during the song 😁 and she sings there almost better than in this live

Simone start her singing by Epica with 17years now she 39years and one of the best sopranos in Metall 🤘 i start with Epica in 2003 ihere the band over 20years

First of all, why did your Phil Collins impression sound like Kermit the Frog XD Second, am I crazy or was the original premiere date for this reaction different? For some reason I thought it was coming out last week and then I looked at it was scheduled for today! Anyway, I’ve been super excited for it! One of my favorite performances of one of my favorite songs!! Simone strumming Isaac’s guitar is a bit they always do for this song-it’s super fun. Little interactions like that are the reason they’re one of my favorite bands to see live. Like, no one is having more fun than them, and they know how not to take themselves too seriously. Where to go next?? Oh man, tons of options! Here’s some I love: Rivers, also from this concert-they had Apocalyptica on as guests (this show was during the tour they did together) and it’s just one of the most hauntingly beautiful ballads ever. Simone was on fire this whole show! The Obsessive Devotion, Pol’and’ Rock concert-this is my favorite performance and a really cool song. It’s kinda similar to Consign to Oblivion where it’s a longer piece that has some big, complex instrumental sections where the guys show their stuff. Cry For the Moon, Omega Alive-their first song!! This particular version I love because it’s kind of an anniversary show and includes some fun clips reflecting on Epica’s journey through the 20 years they’ve been performing.

I don't know when it happened. Maybe at some point since The Holographic Principle was release or something. I missed it, but at some point Epica got over that hump where now their live stuff is better than the album stuff. Simone is much better than ever and has completed her journey as professional singer, the boys are all just always on point *chef's kiss*, and the sound engineering and recording is nearly the quality of Nightwish. Their live stuff is just so full of flair, accents, and fresh new mixing compared to the album stuff which sounds like all of that gets produced out... IDK how else to put it. But if you aren't watching their live stuff then you aren't getting the full Epica experience.

I agree, I think the studio albums are a bit TOO clean, live gives more grit and life. Also they use a different guitar amp live, the Bogner Uberschall, which is a more wild and gritty tone than the tamer studio amp(also from Bogner but can't remember the name). And finally, live we get to hear all of Simone's little improvisations, trills and flourishes, AND THAT IS MY FAVOURITE PART! Simone is Epica's best instrument, fight me.

Simone has released two solo singles, she will soon release her album, which she is helped to create by the famous Dutch prog metal composer Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon). I didn’t really like the first single, but the second one just touched a part of my soul, considering that the song itself is very personal for Simone and I highly recommend you listen to it, it’s quite simple, but very melodic and very strong and emotional: Simone Simons - In love we rust (official video)
