Epica is amazing. You just can’t go wrong with any song of theirs. Their new album is great too!
@RusselF0133 жыл бұрын
I agree! Though half of the songs from their catalog can not be recommended for first time listeners as they can be overwhelmed by it. Example is when a friend of mine who knows nothing about them, i recommended Fools of Damnation but she didnt like it. So i suggested Unleashed instead and she was able to appreciate it more.

Not sure if there will ever be these kind of concerts of either of them.. this was a one off and with nightwish it is also the 4-5 same ones returning in online reactions. The concerts I have been to from both, were not like this or wacken...

@@ARetiredPirate I don’t know where you are from, but you habe to consider it‘s very hard and expensive to bring pyro to shows in the US and Canada. So if you live on that side of the big pond, chances are low you get a big show from european bands. Same goes for US bands in Europe btw.
@ARetiredPirate3 жыл бұрын
@@ShadowhispersBand it's more the venue size for these kind of bands that restrict them in the pyro/lights etc. And I have seen them in South America, the UK, USA, the Netherlands and in Germany.

Still the best live concert I attended to, even if I had to wait for 5 hours in the cold, till the first bunch of people could enter the Klokgebouw (the venue). Unfortunately, there is no recording of the intro of this show, where a lot of musicians gave gratitude to Epica, because the Retrospect show was their 10th anniversary.

Almost always 3 main lead vocals in their songs: Simone, Mark and the Choir. Looking forward to Sancta Terra - but before that, why not do "Chasing the Dragon" from the same Retrospect concert - or go to their new stuff, also amazing
@randalljones43703 жыл бұрын
Time traveling again, and landed here. Thomas, I would give anything to have the compositional skills (and balls) to take a scoresheet and write : "...and here the 120 voice chorus creates an eerie/dissonant/off-kilter penta-tone pad while Simone soars over the chugging rhythm section dropping G#5 after E5 after F#5s like they were eagle feathers from the sky.... and here Mark comes in and quotes the Dirge of the DreamCrusher Orcs.... ... and now it gets heavy." Killer reaction.

hey, thomas. good job on this one, and you hit it on the head for me. the hardest thing about symphonic metal, from an american metal head point of view, is all the changes in the music and the operatic vocals. defiitely don't have an epica-type band here. sometimes it can be overwhelming. but, keep t it, cuz it's sooooo worth it! thanks for the time, man. hadgd!
