YES! This whole album, The Divine Conspiracy, is epic, much harder and more death metallish then most of Epica's work. One long rant at organised religion basically lol.

You should listen to *Code Of Life* as well from Epica.

Yesss, f*cking awesome song! - From this same album I would like to recommend "Death of a Dream" (for some heeeeavy) - And from their last album I would like to recommend "Code of Life" (very eastern sounding also)

One of those with gentle oriental vibes in the mix. You can already hear them in the first album in "Seif Al Din". Watch "Seif Al Din (HD)" uploaded by Dracker as you have not seen anything from the 2 Meter Sessions in-studio concert so far. They are much younger in it and having fun with it. Although, Mark had used Arabian influences in compositions even before that in After Forever - "Follow in the Cry" is probably the best example. MaYaN puts this song into its setlists sometimes.

Seif al din is arabic for sword of religion. Fools of damnation starts with islamic call for prayer

I have a weakness for Middle-Eastern melodies in metal, thank you to whoever made the Harmonic Minor/Phrygian Dominant scales. This was an awesome song, the musicianship is ridiculous. And of course, Simone is incredible!

2:35 did you guys catch the amazing transition from head to chest voice on the long note? That was the moment I fell in love with Simone's voice and technique, almost 15 years ago.

"The Embrace That Smothers" is the colelctive name for a series of songs that Mark started with "After Forever" and continued through 2 Epica albums. It deals with the problmes related to organized religion, mostly Chrtistianity and Islam. The famous first single that Epica released *Cry for the Moon" is also part of this series. You will find the complete list of songs of the series here (in dutch) nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Embrace_That_Smothers As it seems you did not yet do "Cry for the Moon", maybe it's time to do so now: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2iapX-coM6JpJo It is incredible to see how young they all were in this recording

This album is amazing. Their new stuff is outstanding but The Divine Conspiracy has always hit me the hardest.

I'm really hoping you guys will react to "Code of Life" from their new album some day, it has a similar eastern vibe, and arguably one of the best vocal performances by Simone (also, she said it was actually her favorite song to sing on the new album, which I'm not surprised about, the chorus is really awesome)

Have you ever reacted to Mark's other band MaYaN? If not, I'd recommend that you listen to "The Illusory Self" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYDPlpaIhc6Bqck ) and/or Saints Don't Die (kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4WlaZuDarlnqc0 ). Those songs have between 3 to 5 singers per song so it's gives some variety to the songs!
