I knew that you would love it! From a finance point of view: What I love most about de Efteling is that they never look at money first. They first look at the artists and the creativity. Literal quote from mr. van Baarsen, financial director: First let the artists do what they do best, and only then worry about the money. Which must be funny from an American perspective (minimize costs and maximize profits). Of course it is a financially healthy park, and successful in its own way, but it is a whole different approach than other parks. And over the years they have built one of the most unique and artistic parks you can imagine. Btw the attraction is also unique, you LITERALLY dance with the Dead.

The ride was brilliant! We went on it 2 times (the waiting was a nightmare so we ran out of time), once during daylight (the waiting line is so detailed but only really visible during daytime) and during the start of the evening and it got dark slowly. The lights on the abbey made for a sinister view and the waiting line is dark with sparse lanterns so it feels creepy. The sound effects were also intense in the dark (growling, like a big cat was prowling closer and snapping of twigs but it was pitch dark out).The ride itself, I fell in love with it. If I could stay in it the entire day, I would without a doubt. Another highlight for me was the personel walking around. The outfits, their manner of communicating with you (wishing you good luck instead of have fun), no smiling and some even their way of walking all worked on giving the idea of ill intent. It was great!!

I did the ride yesterday and an amazing ride it was. It was during daylight, but it was a cold, dark cloudy day. The story unfolds during the cue line, wich takes you to the abby's graveyard and a spooky forest with sounds of "the unnameable" (het onnoembare) and smoke effects. This, combined with beautiful autumn colours, added greatly to the experience. No darkness needed.

Ohhh, this music is BOTH majestic in its Mass-like structure with different ”choirs” ( the children, the men) backing up the lead singer AND in the instrumental passages. A perfect mix with symphonic instruments and electric ones! 🔥👌🏻🔥👌🏻🔥 The music builds itself up to crescendo!! The tune is easy to remember and the lead singer is extremely good and mesmerizing! She really entices and seduces in the most sophisticated way! 👌🏻🔥BRILLIANTLY GOOD!!! The scenery is tempting and brings out eeriness and curiosity in the viewer as it does to the children in the video! Irresistible! 🙌🏻🌟🖤 I can absolutely see why there was a loooong queue to Efteling today! 🙌🏻 Thank You for Your reaction, Highly! 🙏🏻💜💜

This is reallyy an adaptation from a classical piece from the 1870's called "La Danse Macabre". It was composed by Camille Saint-Saëns from France. The original actually revolves around a Halloween theme itself. Epica's version is pretty close to the original, just adding lyrics and a guitar solo and "metallizing" it a little bit.

It is worth noting that Kate Bush did an Efteling special in 1978 to promote the then brand new haunted castle where the new attraction Danse Macabre now stands. How awesome is that. Epica has a special place in my heart. 🧡🤘🔥🤘

I've done Danse Macabre 3 times so far on to dans (going back for more). The waittime reached 5 hours but it was also the first time Efteling ran it on high capacity. It's a great ride. Efteling did great job retaining the spirit of the haunted castle.

There's a few channels with the opening ceremony (@ night of course) and POV can already be found but those are a bit messy as no-one knows where to look at yet (official POV will be coming on Eftelings channel, when the ride is truly fine tuned and finished -the catacombs aren't in the ride yet some stuff wasn't ready/delivered yet, so not to break the illusion it's not implemented yet)

today this attraction is open to the public at 5:30 there were already people at the gate of the efteling, while efteling only opens at 10:00...today the efteling opened at 8:00 by noon there was a queue for the attraction of 5 hours
