My buddies in scouts would always get on my case 'cause I took too long toasting my marshmallows. I seem to be one of the few people who doesn't like burning them. I would just patiently hold and spin the mallow 3 inches away from the fire for a good couple minutes, but they would come out perfectly golden brown and almost melting off the stick. It was worth the wait, even if I only got 2 to everyone else's 5.

The only way I've ever made smores, is by assembling the whole thing and throwing it in the microwave for a couple of seconds. I knew that wasn't right way to do it, but I've never been to a campfire before, and wanted to try it. "So why not?" I thought to myself. And yes, it was still delicious. :)

not even gonna lie I always pick a stove top set on high to brown my marshmallows over anything else because it completely melts the inside of the marshmallow while getting the outside glass crisp and never burns, so much easier to control than a open flame
@ursamines7643
@ursamines7643 5 жыл бұрын
Wow! I would never thought I would see a day where even Chef Robert Ramsey can’t make a proper item. You toast the outside to create a caramelized crisp “skin”. Burnt sugar destroys the Maillard reaction making the sugar bitter. If you get really good you can peel the caramel “skin” off and toast the inner marshmallow again.

You know what would really be entertaining? Seeing the people who messed up react to how you actually make what they're trying to do and what they did. It's hilarious to see people realize how stupid they really are.

I guess they are kind of specifically an American thing people who have camping experience make. I've watch videos of people in Ireland or Germany or wherever sampling them for the first time and it seems like just something they never heard of

Best s'mores I've ever had was a smoked one. I had some chicken and pork chops in the smoker one night and since I had a campfire I wanted some s'mores. Then I just got the idea to put the ingredients together and place it on the exhaust for the smoker, it melted nice and slowly and the taste was beyond phenomenal. I'm trademarking the smoked s'mores. It's mine
