Epilepsy Action Well it turns out I have an old injury at the top of my vertabrae that has healed. A seizure did it. One of my tonic clonics possibly the one I had in october 2015 because we think my neck and head hit the handles on my drawers by my bed as well as hitting the drawers several times.
@danielledewitt17 жыл бұрын
Epilepsy Action I bet it can hurt their neck too. I have tonic clonic seizures and a couple of thursdays back my appendix lowered my seizure threshold and I had a seizure. Turns out I have an old neck injury possibly from one of my past seizures, I suspect it was the one I had in 2015. I had my appendix removed on the sunday. So it turns out some health problems will lower my seizure threshold. The injury is healed but they could see where it was exact location the top of my vertabrae. That might explain why I get trapped nerves in my neck.

I have epilepsy but I've only had like 4 or 5 atonic seizures. Unfortunately, I get tonic clonic seizures, which are horrible. I also get minor seizures like myoclonic seizures and absences, but I feel lucky that I don't have atonic seizures anymore as I'm on medication and they stopped years ago!

There's a boy at my new school who wears a helmet like that most of the time. They have kids with Tourettes and who are in wheelchairs and have down syndrome, but i never knew what the helmet was for. Probably seizures? This video helped! Thank you!
@allfortheebchildren65616 жыл бұрын
_Simply Artistic_ it could be seizures, but with a first hand experience with Tourette’s Syndrome (I have it) many people with head tics could hit their head on something. I know for me, I used to have a pretty awful head tic where my head would violently jerk down then to the left. One day while at a restaurant, I managed to wham my head into a wall giving myself a massive migraine.
@thiscommentisrelevant79114 жыл бұрын
For the Tourette’s is probably to protect their head as us people with it tend to injure our selves a lot. I have this violin Nike tick where I jerk my head to the side or backwards and it can make you really dizzy give you a headache and in some cases give you whiplash so some of us have to wear a neck brace.Some of us get these rly Long tics that can last anywhere from a few minutes to days whether it is a paralysis tic or something else that makes them unable to use the legs they may end up in a wheelchair. If uve has a tic attack That is really bad you may end up in a wheelchair after it

Heartbreaking to see. I had two seizures two months apart last year at the height of the pandemic. They were 2 months apart and second time I lost speech. Not entirely but I could barely get out two words at once. I could communicate via writing just fine. Sleep deprivation and stress/ panic disorder were main factor and running out of my panic meds. Both times I was up for 5 days with little to no sleep every night until my brain just shut down. After sleeping finally I would feel fine but a few times since than have woken up very sore like I had one during my sleep I think. Has this happened to anybody else. CT scan showed nothing out of the ordinary no tumors and whatnot.
@Rocky1236987453 жыл бұрын
If you can, I’d request an EEG to see if there’s anything significant happening in your brain that could explain it. That, and/or an fMRI. If the CT didn’t show anything, then it’s probably not any sort of lesion or other damage to the brain; it’s likely neurological.
@yoeyyoey89372 жыл бұрын
It could be the meds. If you are taking a diazepam (Xanax or Valium or something similar), it could be disregulating your GABA inhibitory pathway system, which would then result in neurological over activity which can manifest as a seizure.

growing up epilepsy I was lucky to not have them in primary school however they started coming back my junior year of college thats when I started experiencing kids and even some teachers giving me a hard time about however when i moved schools I had a more postive expirence. I often was teaching my teachers, classmates and even my principle about my seizures. and if they changed school nurses then they would introduce me to them before I started school for the year or the first day. I was lucky to have awsome teachers about it and I know they tried their best but at times I wished there was abit more support around the teachers and me and my schooling.

If a baby has an atonic seizure, would they cry during it?
@theillmadeknight42664 жыл бұрын
Hey Aly! Seizures can manifest differently in different people, and only a neurologist or epileptologist can say with certainty what type of seizures someone is experiencing. Having said that, atonic seizures are very quick, usually only lasting a few seconds, and the person loses awareness during. It would be unlikely for someone to cry or show signs of awareness during one. An infant or child might cry or become upset after a seizure where they lose awareness or consciousness though, because they'll be confused about what's happened.
