Picked up a Koa custom earlier this year, it's astounding. The neck is so thin and comfortable, it's relatively lightweight, the ebony fretboard is so nice. Just a wonderful instrument, it has tone leaping from it. It's so musical.

The Explorer Brendon Small Ghosthorse is a 10/10 from Epiphone. But the Black Beauty Bonamossa, the JJ Nichols Gold Glory, and the Koa Top are my fav too !! ... and I got one you didn't mention, the Flying V Korina 7 Strings, a weird Epiphone made in Korea from 2000 !!

The JJN Old Glory was my first Epi since the Slash Snakepit model way back in the late 90s /early 2000s. The Slash model was terrible, the Old Glory is amazing and has certainly sparked my interest in the brand again. I'm looking for a JC Wino, Ghost Horse or Mustaine V next perhaps all three?!).

funny that you say epiphone has come out of know were in the past few years since they have been making guitars since 1928. But just like gibson they have had there ups and downs and good years and bad years of guitars. But they have really stepped up there game in the past few years so I am assuming that is what you are meaning abot that comment. Me I have been playing epiphone guitars since the 80's and have always actually prefered them over the couple of gibsons I have ever owned or played. and for the price I will take and epiphine over a gibson any day of the week. Now that is not saying I would not take a gibson if someone wanted to give me one because i would lol! Anyway keepo rocking my friend always enjoy your channel.

I wanted to see where you would put the Ghost horse with the Gibson pickups, top mount floyd, and aged silver burst looking color, but then you eviscerated the lesser explorer/futura in the line.

Epi modern is probably the best what happened to "traditional" Les Paul in my humble opinion:) awesome guitar in general

I've got the Epiphone Brent Hinds Custom Flying V. It's a sexy guitar and fun to play (even if it is a little awkward to sit with as all flying v's are). Silverburst with custom block inlays, chunky neck, Brent Hinds Hammer Claw pickups and killswitch 🤘

The newer Epiphones kickass. I have the Joe Bonamassa ES-335 and Adam Jones Silverburst and play and enjoy them as much as my Gibsons. I feel the same in that I look to Epiphone when I want something unique or different that I might not be able to get from the Gibson line up. Also for that pelham blue JJN I think they changed the p90 in it to be a stacked hum cancelling one so that might be a bonus or a drawback depending on the player.

I have a Koa LP, i took off the pickups and I didn’t saw the veneer. I think that it’s an actual koa top… And the slim taper neck is beautiful. I have the 1959 too but I prefer the Koa…

The Heafy origins 7 can go all the way to G standard, if you get a set of his signature strings from Dunlop. Ive done it myself, the lowest string had a tiny bit of pitch drift, bit if you have a light picking hand, its fine.

I had it for a bit. Could not set the action low enough for my liking without getting strange pretty bad buzz in only some frets. That problem doesnt occure on my LTD Truckster. I have sent it back. Also wasnt the most comfortable guitar for me to play since I am in a wheelchair but thats very specific and not a critique point.

@@metalpuppet5798 that's fair. Sorry that it wasn't a good fit for you. My former father in law is wheelchair bound, he had the same issue, most guitars weren't comfortable for him. He played a keyboard instead.

the wino, is an amazing guitar! disregard the color, but it as close to the Gibson Les Paul Custom, neck profile, pickups, playability, etc.

I have a Veil of Bees Adam Jones and I’ve gigged with it a few times, I go kinda mental on stage and the only issue I’ve had with the back is the printing on the cavity plate has rubbed off a bit, although I do wear my belt buckle to the side to avoid buckle rash on my guitars 🤷‍♂️

I got the white seven string origins sig. All it needed was a simple setup and fret polish, but I do that on every guitar I buy. If I was to order a custom shop gibson, it would be exactly the epi that I already have, maybe in a different color.

Perimeter burst don’t work for me on a silver burst but I’m not a silver burst guy although I did play a epiphone silver burst lp custom at guitar center that was the nicest epiphone I’ve ever played.

Dude, for me all the trem guitars are on the not for me line. I like hardtails. All the Les Pauls would be in play it once. I am not a fan of the Les Paul, but I would like to play the guitars just to see the differences and such. I like all the Vs. I think though the two single P90 Les Pauls might be growing on me as they are rock machines with a hard tail and one pickup. Besides, people who get butthurt over rankings are comical, like if they are mad you don't like their guitar, at least you ain't going to be trying to steal it.

Old time Epiphone fans will know of yhr old prophecy Les Pauls. I own a 2006 prophecy LP and that thing is mean. Gibson Dirty finger USA pickups. 24 frets. Full thickness and weight. Ebonay board. Just a toje monster. Very well made and going strong today.

Dude the Mustaine Prophecy doesn't even have different pickups. Their the same Fishman's as all the Prophecies.It's literally a Prophecy V with an explorer headstock and a case for an extra $600.

​@@xanderraymondcharlesEpi big time built the brand and put out amazing quality for the last 5ish years and now they have jacked their prices. Inflation isn't the reason and the Prophecy V vs the Mustaine is a case in point. I have the limited edition Brent Hinds V in silverburst and the final iteration of the Iommi SG, as well as the recent Prophecy LP. The quality is astounding and I paid less than $800 for each. The Hinds V is particularly amazing and I'd put it up against any Gibson V. What they are charging for the Mustaine V, and now the Hammett V, is really pushing it.

Most of the Epiphone tops arr "meh", the prs se made in Indonesia are better visually. The Epiphones have the advantage of variety of specs and forms.

The '59 alone has like 5-6 different colors, with Lazarus and Greenie being nothing more than marked up sig. versions. Koa Customs look like countertops from the 50's. The AJ sig. will be a normal non art version for the last batch. Is that acceptable? Or not your style? Seems your preferences are sporadic at times?

I don't think he's joking bro. The wino is the absolute TiTs McGee homie. I own one and everything from the astoundingly GORGEOUS translucent wine red finish to the simple fact it's a fvcking LP CUSTOM in another color than only black and white. That alone puts it up at the top of the heap, then you have CTS pots, wish it also had a switch craft toggle and jack, but that's an easy swap. And the Epi brand 98t bridge and 90u neck hums kick azz, in my humble opinion and as many others have said sound wayyyy better than the regular Probuckers that come in basically everything else Epi. Literally the only thing I had to do to mine was set up to how I like it...duh. I upgraded to new real bone nut, switch craft toggle and jack, Bare Knuckle Vitamin series caps, treble bleed circuits, locking faded gold tuners and faded gold locking stop bar and bridge with bell brass threaded posts and thumb wheels and bell brass saddles. Oh, and I pulled the bridge posts and replaced them with bell brass. This thing kicks so much azz it's crazy, and I got a helluva deal on most of these upgrade pieces. The last and final thing I might do is replace the pickups with Gibson 498t and 490u pups.
