A few things you forgot to mention are the long neck tenon, switchcraft output jack, Mallory caps, and the thick maple cap under the veneer not just a veneer over the mahogany and also that the body is a solid 2 piece body with no veneer on the back. Worth way way more than what they sold for!!

@@CapableFox64 right, it’s a thick solid maple cap just with a piece of flame veneer over top of the cap so the cap is not full flame but it is still a thick maple cap under the veneer.

@@taxationistheft2.0 I bought a blemished one for $489.00. When I ordered it' I was expecting a scratch or a ding' when I got it' it was in perfect shape' not one blemish. I ordered another blemished one $519.00 expecting a scratch or a ding' when I got that one' it had one hairline scratch on the back about 2" long, I used a small dabb of foam pad polish and it buffed right out less than 30 seconds. I've bought several' probably 30 or more scratch/dent/ blemished guitars' spend a couple of minutes on them' 9 outta 10' just small things are wrong wit them. Bought my first LP in the 70's ( A white LP custom with trem. , dropped LST and took off the paint... ) then a Gary Moore, then LPS++. Love these EPI Les Paul's.. These are the real Deal. Received an Epiphone dark burst ‘59 recently. It’s all good. I change things on every guitar I’ve had over the past 20 years. All of them. However , on this ‘59 Re-Issue I can’t find anything the “needs” changing. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Im actually happy with exactly as it is. The tone is fantastic, playability as easy as any guitar can be. Stays in tune well . If I get picky, I’ll say it’s a bit on the heavy side. Overall, I love this guitar as-is. No mods needed.

Ordered mine when they were still $799! Got it in December and it's definitely a steal for the price. It has become my favorite one to play and I'm not even normally a Les Paul player! You can just FEEL the quality of it, and it sounds killer through my Boss Katana amp. I love the satin neck, and the matte finish looks so much better than the super glossy, which just looks cheap to me. The fingerboard on mine looks and feels like rosewood, nice and chocolate-y. If you want one, better get it while you can, IF you still can (had to wait 6 months for mine). Good review!

i got this guitar for 770euros, in dark burst. its an absolulte steal, tho i do wish we had this Finish as an option in Europe but.. yea...one of those.. sweetwater exclusives things which im.. kinda annoyed about. side note 50s wiring is bright, just for those who say its kinda bright thats because of the wiring. which is something that can be dealt with by simplying EQing. also there's countless comparison between the limited 59, and a 2600+ usd Gibson.. you wouldnt believe how little of a difference there actually is. Great video man i do envy that finish really wish we had that option in Europe

Many thanks for your help Ian from Scotland

I've got 2 of these bad boys. The cherry ones a bit heavy at 9lbs 7oz. and has a somewhat plain top. I'm most likely trading it in, with the Epi LP custom silverburst to cover the Adam Jones LP silverburst sig I have pre-ordered. But the Aged Southern Fade Burst '59 isn't going anywhere. Epiphone is doing much better than anyone wants to admit right now. I'm trading in 2 for one to slim and upgrade my stable.

Thanks for the excellent review. I wanted one of those in the worst way since I didn't have a Les Paul and almost pulled the trigger on one. The laurel fingerboard was just too much of a roadblock. Didn't really go for the pink case or the knobs on those tuners either. Sounds kinda shallow but may as well get what you want if you're going to spend money. Ended up with an early 2000's LP knockoff that has a killer rosewood fingerboard, set neck, beautiful brown burst finish and solid wood body. Installed a set of Grover tuners with nice looking metal knobs and got a Gator polyfoam case for it off of Amazon. Despite being a knockoff the guitar is tons of fun and gets the job done. Cheers!

People like you need to realize that using rosewood on mid and lower end guitar models is no longer sustainable or affordable, so therefore makes its use impractical on anything other than a top end guitar. We are starting to see rosewood only being used on high end American made guitars such as fenders, Gibson's Rickenbacker's and Guilds or as in your case Chinese fakes cos the counterfeiters and obviously you don't care about the environment. Laurel is a perfectly acceptable alternative.
@carpathus
@carpathus Жыл бұрын
@@Edward1312 Careful, your projection is showing. Buying a used guitar is far more sustainable than buying a newly manufactured instrument regardless of the woods used or don't you think recycling has value? Also you couldn't be more wrong as to where the guitar I purchased was made or calling it a fake not that it matters to me but it obviously matters to snobs like you. And do you even know what a fake is? What's funny is when dweeb know nothings such as yourself attempt to lecture others drawing conclusions based on incorrect assumptions then assuming your conclusion is their conclusion. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Why don't you do us all a favor and crawl back under the rock you came from.

I got the aged honey burst model from Sweetwater. It was a demo so I only paid $764.50 for it. Really a high quality guitar, but that doesn’t surprise me anymore. The Epiphones and Squiers just keep getting better while the Gibsons and Fenders suffer from quality control issues. My favorite part is the neck. To me, it feels in between a ‘50s LP neck (thick and rounded) and a ‘60s neck (slimmer). I personally love the non-weight relieved body.

I love these guitars. In fact latter today I am going the buy a second one .. I love the Bursrbuckers 2 and 3 and they sound killer in these guitars but because I knew I was going to be buying a second one I decided to swap out the BBs I my current 59 because I don't want 2 of the same guitars with the same pickups and I have a Joe Bonamassa gold top les paul with BB2 and BB3 so that would be 3 les Paul's with the same pickups so I put in a set of Gibson custombuckers I had laying around that came out of a 58 les paul reissue I own because I found the custombuckers sounded too bright in the 58 which is a naturally quite bright guitar to begin with. My epiphone 59 has alot of bass and lower midrange so is quite a bit darker than the 58 RI so the custombuckers seemed like the perfect candidate for my current epi 59 and I was right the custombuckers sound amazing in the epi 59. The guitar is much more clear and far more balanced now and it already sounded amazing now. I will have 2 epi 59 with my 2 favorite Gibson sets. Custombuckers and BB2 and BB3. I have not even picked the second one yet and I already want a third one so I can put in a gibsom 57 classic plus in the bridge and a Burstbucker 1 for the neck that I have laying around. I don't like the 57 classic in the neck. Too smooth and not enough bite for my tastes. That would give me 3 epi 59s with all three of gibsons modern takes on the 1950s Gibson Paf. I don't like the regular 57 set in a les paul but love them in an SG but at the same time the 57 classic plus is one of my favorite bridge pickups in any Gibson guitar. I don't like the Burstbucker 2 as a bridge pickup in any guitar but love it in the neck and the Burstbucker 3 is one of my top 5 favorite bridge pickups and I have tried many after market sets of supposedly better pickups and some of them were killer but for my ears and tastes the Custombuckers the BB2 and BB3 or a BB1 and BB3 and a 57 classic plus in the bridge in the right guitars remain among my favorites. My favorite modern guitar tones are all done with stock gibson pickups or with seymour Duncan's . Gibson pickups also respond well to magnet swaps l. For example a 57 classic plus sounds amazing with an alnicp 5 magnet. So does the BB2 and BB3 set and no that does not make them BB pros . BB prs have a different wind . BB 1 2 and 3 can also sound killer with A3 magenta and no putting A3 Mags in Bursrbuckers does not make them custombuckers. The custombuckers have a totally different winding pattern and coil geometry.

It's bright because its 50's wiring. LP's with 50's wiring are brighter in the sound but you know that can be adjusted with EQ... you are probably used to 60's les pauls. the growl you are refering too is most likely the speakers in a Marshall amp. not the guitar. in general i do not understand people who think it sounds too bright for me LP's are bright guitars in general but you know it has tone controlls you can adjust that on.. and it even response different depending on the volume you are at because 50's wiring.
