In this episode of Faith Unfiltered Q&A we explore the journey away from traditional Christian beliefs toward a more personalized spiritual path. We discuss the transition from organized religion to embracing ideas surrounding energy, vibrations, and a more agnostic worldview.
We talk about the differences between personal spirituality over rigid adherence to any single religious doctrine, sharing our experiences with meditation as a tool for navigating life after deconstruction. Our conversation extends to the impact of faith deconstruction on relationships, particularly the challenges faced by those who married young within religious communities. We also confront issues like patriarchy and toxic masculinity.

Wow, so nice to hear a man acknowledge the harm the patriarchy in the church does to women.

This is such a great episode. You hit on so many things that have been on my mind. I would love to hear your thoughts on the stages of grief in deconstructing. I have realized, for me, they aren’t linear, and I bounce around. But I’m feeling less of the anger lately, and it’s nice! Thanks for this amazing podcast. I love it :)

On my mission I used that method many times, praying, focusing, being led to the golden investigator, going to the house we felt prompted to.... as faithful and diligent as I was, I never was led to the soul seeking truth. But in general, we did find them in other ways. But I was surprised I never had that direct inspiration to go to a specific house, because we tried very hard. One of my first doubts that I shelfed, until later, that after finding many of those golden investigators, and after they sincerely prayed and studied the BofM, never received an answer. I was baffled, because it was supposed to have happened. What I realized later is that the only people who have a personal witness are those who already want it to be true. I'm sure if every past missionary (still believing or exmo), if they are honest, had similar experiences, but probably said to themselves that the golden investigator wasn't really sincere.

I totally believe there can be spirituality after leaving Christianity. Though mine does not involve tarot cards or anything.

Is there any way Jamie can speak a little louder, Elisha sounds loud and clear but Jamie is hard to hear. I'm not being critical, I really enjoy this podcast and like to have it in the background, but I miss alot of what Jamie says. 😔 And what he says it's important and has much value.

Grounding energy resonates for me! Love using tarot & oracle cards to spur thoughtful journaling! Funny that Mormon cult doesn't push journaling anymore. Maybe it doesn't want members to think about its changing policies & doctrine, since it also teaches that Mormon God doesn't change.

Love your channel! I have been following you on tic tok. Love hearing from both of you. I left the church in 2019 and am still just love hearing the stories of others who leave. I am a lover of astrology and now I need to know Jaimie’s sign after hearing him talk about following his feelings. I am wired the same.

I actually listen to many NDE accounts and even though they are all very different in that they are personal to the person the two things that stand out are that they are told to go back and tell others to love and then when they have their life reviews it is in the context of what have you learned and never condemnation! Ever! So it’s really uplifting in A genuine way

I think that mothers intuition is a real thing. Idk what it is or why but I’ve had similar experiences with my mom where she just had a strong feeling something was wrong. She says it’s the Holy Ghost I say it’s some sort of mother daughter energy idk no explanation for it

The only source of Jesus' teachings we have is the Bible. In his very own teachings, he makes the claim that he is God in human form. He makes exclusive claims that say a rejection of him as God is going to lead you to hell. Do you really believe he is a great teacher? Or are you just picking and choosing what you want to take from what Jesus said to make yourself seem like a good person?
@clareadams4897

Jesus doesn’t have a monopoly on good people. No religion does. Good people exist outside of religion. In that case, it’s totally acceptable to “pick and choose” teachings from anyone you find inspiring that contributes to enlightening you and making you a better person.

@@clareadams4897 but if Jesus is God, then he does have a monopoly on saying what makes someone good. Good by human standards is completely irrelevant in comparison to good by God's standards. Good by God's standards is summed up in Jesus' teachings in the Sermon on the Mount. So things like never look at someone with lust ever. Never get angry without a righteous reason ever. Never retaliate ever. Always serve when an opportunity presents itself. Things like that. No one can possibly live up to the standard Jesus himself says is good. This is why a rejection of God leads to subjectivism which is meaningless. It's you making yourself into your own god and determining what you think is good and right and then coopting anything you think agrees with you and rejecting the things that don't. And as a Christian, to watch people degrade God to nothing more than a "good teacher" is insulting, disgusting, and blasphemous.

@@austinnajar re: ”No one can possibly live up to the standard Jesus himself says is good. This is why a rejection of God leads to subjectivism which is meaningless” Subjectivism is a philosophical position that holds the individual's perceptions, beliefs, and feelings as the central point of reference for truth and reality. It contrasts with objectivism, which asserts the existence of an objective reality that is independent of human thoughts and feelings. Subjectivism can manifest in various domains such as ethics, aesthetics, and epistemology, with each area having its own implications. Subjectivism raises important questions about the nature of truth, the possibility of objective knowledge, and the basis of moral and aesthetic judgments. It emphasizes the variability and diversity of human experience but can also challenge the idea of finding common ground or universal principles in various domains of human life. Critics of subjectivism argue that it can lead to relativism, where the distinction between right and wrong, true and false, becomes entirely dependent on individual or cultural perspectives, potentially undermining the basis for meaningful dialogue and consensus. It sounds like your concern is of moral relativism. Is that what you mean when you say, “subjectivism is meaningless”?
