Steven Bancarz explains how ideas such as astrology, spiritual energy, universalism, psychics, aliens, reincarnation, and self-love are all impacting the church and society as a whole today. He also walks us through his journey from enjoying success as a New Age teacher to transforming into a born-again Christian. Part one of a two-part, jam-packed episode of Relatable.

I can’t even begin to express how excited I am by this interview. Steven is one of people who inspired me to leave the New Age and Allie is one of the people who continue to give me hope for the conservative movement. You both rock! Thank you for your work! I’m looking forward to Part 2! (By the way- Steven, if you see this: your book is literally right next to me right now. I’m on chapter 10. I sincerely hope you’re working on another book because it’s The Second Coming of the New Age is one of my top 5 most recommended books to people!)

Same! He is the one that really brought me back to faith. I just wish he would stop trying so hard to analyze everything to death and trying so hard to understand complex, biblical issues that should be secondary. He is in bondage so bad. I was the same, coming out of the new age. I wanted SO bad to never be deceived again, that I let the ‘Truther’ movement swallow me up for awhile, and I found myself working for the gift of salvation, instead of letting Jesus work through me, by resting in His perfect gift. I feel like @steven Bancarz is really being pulled apart by the devil right now, because of this. I was in such bondage, I seriously questioned for over a year, whether or not I was saying Gods title/name right!!! Can you believe the literal absurdity of that?? Yikes. I pray he gets out of all that nonsense and works based stuff.

Allie, you always impress me by how wonderful of an interviewer you are. I wonder if other people notice too. I love how you listen and make eye contact the entire time, while at the same time coming up with good questions to ask when you have a chance. You never interrupt, and even when they go on a tangent for a 10 minutes, you remember one of their earliest points or question you had but couldn’t ask immediately without interrupting. I don’t know how you don’t have to write down your questions throughout the interview lol good job, Allie!

Man alive was this enlightening! I’ve been learning so much about the subtleties of New Ageism, and I’m so grateful the Holy Spirit led me to this video. It’s been very insightful, and I look forward to learning more. I’ve been on a path of removing ungodly things from my life so as not to be tempted by the world nearly as much. Before, I figured it was fine because I was saved, but the devil creeps in sooo sneakily and it can be a slow fade to the dark side. I’m so grateful for your channel and the work that you are doing. Thank you thank you thank you! And God bless you.❤️

Love this interview. He explained everything SO WELL. Growing up I made friends who led me onto the sinful evil path of new age practices. I felt like I was so deep into it, tarot, contacting the dead, using these statues and tools to access a higher state of consciousness. I didn’t realize that doing all of those things was making me crazy. I was literally depressed all the time and felt manic. It Honeslty wasn’t until I accepted God and Jesus into my life and God as the only God, baptized and born again that I felt sane. As soon as I accepted Christ I wanted nothing to do with those ideologies and deities that I was letting in my life. I wanted to get rid of it and I did and I have not looked back since. My life has been amazing ever since. No depression, no anxiety, no feeling crazy, no drugs, no drinking, no fomo, and been getting my life and health back on track. God bless and I pray everyone and those around me accept Christ into their life. 💖

Why is there so many ads about Christianity and Pureflix? How come every store I go to has a bible, even dollar stores? My dad recommended I watch Steven’s testimony and when I searched him on KZbin, I was happy to see my favorite podcaster interviewed him! I almost got into new age through LOA. I watched some videos and got a LOA year planner. I wasn’t a Christian at the time but I’m lucky I didn’t get so far into it. That was because the planner was so annoying😂. It was so much work and so unnecessarily repetitive to “manifest” what you want. I got saved maybe a year or so later and discovered the bullet I had dodged. I’m so grateful to God for that. The new age movement has infiltrated our society so badly. I’m so sick of seeing everyday ads promoting manifestation.

Wow I really needed this. I’m not much into new age , but I am battling with my faith. I have tried to re dedicate my life to Christ after years of sin. After a few weeks of reading my bible, turning from secular music, movies, anything not aligned with Jesus, I feel all of the sudden like I am being spiritually attacked. My mind and heart is confused, angered, saddened, lustful, a strong yearning for sin, lust, all things of the world overcome me. I pray God forgives me for my wickedness and shields me from my thoughts, that I feel aren’t my own. Form my dreams, my lustful nature, I know that because I am not in a time of suffering it’s easy for temptation to get to me, I am trying to stay level headed and push through this. This guys KZbin has some really good advice on this. I feel a relief. ☺️

I would suggest to keep reading your bible and only reading your bible. Fill yourself with the word. People think you need all the extra stuff to understand the word but what you really need is the word of God and prayer. Spend time doing that and that alone. Any questions that come up, seek to answer them with the word, use a bible app’s search tool to help with where the topics appear elsewhere in scripture and use scripture to interpret scripture through prayer and the word. Continue digging the word with prayer. If you do read books or listen to teachings do so carefully, testing what you are hearing with the word of God not just taking it in and swallowing it whole. Test everything. People don’t read their bibles anymore. They quote books and authors and things like that but don’t know what the Bible actually says. That’s all you need.

New age talks about peace and freedom, but as Steven points out here, you're really in a golden cage. There's the pressure of reading that book, chanting that mantra, meditating in this way, affirming in that way, doing this, that and the other - and you never get anything out of it, really. With Jesus Christ, you have true forgiveness, freedom and eternal life. You have everything once you have Him.

People struggle to see their own sinfulness because we humans have a such a low standard. GOD's standard is HOLY PERFECTION! Lusting in your mind is sin. Carrying anger in your heart is sin. Not doing something to help someone when you ought to is sin -- by God's standard. HE understands that we are not perfect. But a HOLY GOD cannot tolerate (overlook) sin (big or small) because it violates His very nature. (Remember the high priest with the rope around his ankle just in case ...) So the plan of redemption was born to bring about our reconciliation through the atoning work of Jesus. What a beautiful gift from a loving God.

Every time she opened her mouth on the debate stage, I was like, "What is she DOING there???" when there were other candidates more qualified than her who didn't make the very large cut. Then I found out she was pals with Oprah and it all made sense! Interesting to hear her named here! (Pretty much ALL the Democrats I follow on Twitter were scratching their heads too!)

I wish you would have asked some hard hitting questions... like what he thinks about the prosperity gospel type beliefs, and signs and wonders, and the mystical type gifts. I’ve followed all his content for a long time, but recently saw him spam commenting on a live video on another channel. He seemed to have just blindly been fighting with no one, defending miraculous gifts, as a common every day thing for Christians. Since then, I’ve hoped someone would bring that up to him. But you gotta be willing to rock the boat to do that... and of course through love!

Yes, he is a continuationist. I've been working on an article in response to the 5 or so points that he uses to support his claims of dreams and visions in the Church today. I'll give you one example here: Steven uses the account of Polycarp having a dream about his martyrdom as proof that dreams from God continue because Polycarp was martyred in AD 156, long after the NT writings were complete. Steven seems to be just repeating this story that's he's heard from others, but he hasn't researched it for himself. In fact, the earliest manuscript of the Martyrdom of Polycarp is a copy by Eusebius (4th C.) in which there is no mention of a vision. The vision/dream is inserted only in manuscripts from the 10th - 13th centuries.

Carol Berubee Now that is very very well examined! Thank you for sharing your own research with me! I knew he was falling into continuationist type theology, but it was only recently where I realized how far he’s developed more into that camp. And honestly it got really concerning! As a former Christianese new ager myself, I know how prone we are to falling back into similar things. And I don’t want to argue or quarrel, with brothers and sisters over secondary issues... ever! But there is a point where continuationist sort of change their version of God, into something more self elevating. I’m not saying Steven is there... yet. I just pray he doesn’t end up that far to the left. I keep hoping when these good teachers interview him, that they poke at those questions with him. Out of love. Out of concern. You know??

This is great content! Always love listening to Steven, but I’m new to your channel. You are a great and respectful interviewer while still sharing great insights yourself. I will subscribe. On the idea of how a mild form of New Age teachings have infiltrated young Christian women’s materials, I totally agree. Everything seems to be geared to trying to build up self and realize their truth worth as a “queen or princess,” in God’s kingdom, which is just one step away from saying you’re a “goddess.” I don’t believe this line of thinking is Biblical. It’s basically “girl power” repackaged to the “princess” generation of young women repackaged in Christian terms.

I would suggest that in John 3:5 when Jesus tells Nicodemus he must be born “of water and of the Spirit” He is not talking about water baptism. He’s addressing Nicodemus’ confusion in verse 4 about entering back into his mother’s womb to be “born again”. Jesus is telling him that he must be 1.) “born of water” (natural birth, as when a woman’s water breaks) AND ALSO 2.) “born of the Spirit” (supernatural birth or salvation). Essentially, Jesus is telling Nicodemus he has to be born twice to see the Kingdom of God. Many misunderstand this as a statement that baptism is REQUIRED for salvation, when it is instead faith alone in Christ alone.

The rainbow itself isn't evil. God created the rainbow. Its a covenant between all living things and God. Genesis 1:12-17 Also Revelation 4:3 says, "And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance." Revelation 10:1 "And I saw another strong angel coming down out of heaven, clothed with a cloud; and the rainbow was upon his head, and his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire;"

I have an 80yo client who is was born to a Christian family. He joined every possible religion the Black Jews, Muslim, and now new age. He claims to have psychic abilities. He talks about how content he is with his life yet he is desperately lonely. He mocks Christianity. I feel so sad when I talk to him. I don’t want him to be separated from God. His mom is waiting for him in heaven. Help me pray for him and pray for me to know how to talk to him about Christ.

So from the back seat, honestly, this just seems like this young man has a personality that thrives on (re)spiritualizing things to make sense of how to deal with his emotional world. Here's the deal, all spiritualities have the ability to "work", to "be true" because it games our mind, more specifically, our brain to create a narrative around how the mystical interacts and shapes us. It's interesting listening to this, as now an unbeliever, much (only 18 min in) of what Steven is talking about "new age" claims seems just as much to be of the same ilk of much of the supernatural claims of Christianity. The thing that religion may have over others, is the moral imperatives that it seems to prescribe to humans.

oh man... a bit more in @29:09 and I couldn't quite stomach the seemingly hilarious oversight as to how the Christian isn't in any a better a hamster wheel. Read your Bible, pray, meditate, go to Church every week to indoctrinate, rituals (eucharist). These are all practices one has to do to keep the faith. I know a lot of Christians say "it's done, not do", but try not doing all the things I listed and see how much your faith will magically dwindle. You've just replaced one, dare I say superstition, with another...

17:51 & 22:04 -- Steven is a student of Michael Heiser and he shows it here. Steven talks a lot in this video about the need to know that man is not God, yet he believes that there "special" men who can rightly claim to be gods.

@@indiefolk101 also, Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14 are types of Lucifer. The kings are seen as gods because of the power the wielded, but these two accounts show that Satan is the power behind the kings. And Nebuchadnezzar was not slain for saying that he was a god. He died peacefully in Babylon. I'm not sure what Steven was trying to say, but whatever it was, it was sloppy and confusing. He needs to stop just repeating what others say and actually do some research for himself.

Mike Heiser doesn't believe Pslam 82 is referring to men. He believes it's referring to the divine council in the heavenlies, not men. Mike Heiser teaches the opposite of what you just commented here and down below. What are you trying to get at?
@carolberubee
@carolberubee 4 жыл бұрын
@@StevenBancarz At 22:04, you "corrected" yourself. You said God, but you changed it to gods (Genesis 3:5). That is in keeping with your interpretation of Genesis 1:26, where you see it not as an intratrinitarian declaration but as the "divine council in the heavenlies," as you call it. This would also be in keeping with Psalm 82, correct? You see the "gods" there as this "divine council" (rather than men who have a perceived "sovereign" power on earth). That's why, at 17:54ff, when you say, "Those [king of Tyre, king of Babylon, and Herod] are the only three people in Scripture, aside from Jesus, who could claim deity...," I hear you saying that you believe those three men are somehow gods come to earth. I am saying that they were not gods but mere men who were sovereigns over their subjects and, thus, were attributed as being god-like.

This is really a good episode, but I will say that in the beginning, he talks about being born again with the spirit, in John. That is referencing baptism. In baptism, the Holy Spirit enters us and gives us faith. It is nothing we can do on our own. It is not even a decision we make on our own. We cannot make a decision for Christ without the Holy Spirit already in us. Baptism gives us faith, eternal life, and the Holy Spirit. Mark 16: 16, Titus 3: 5-7. Romans 6: 4, Matthew 28: 19, Mark 9: 41 is why babies can be baptized.

Hello Sarah Grace ! Baptism is only an expression of our decision to follow Christ. In our day it has a different meaning then when John was baptizing before Jesus. He was baptizing to show people that the Christ was born and to symbolize that Jesus was coming and would be able to baptize with the spirit, meaning being able to cleanse us with his death and the spirit coming to dwell in us when we decide to follow Christ and commit our lives to Him. Baptism can not give us eternal life; only a belief in Jesus and a repentance of sin and a relationship with Him can do that. :)

@@saramobley3048 Hi Sara! Thanks for the reply! We cannot decide to follow Jesus without the Holy Spirit in us. The Holy Spirit is what gives us faith, not our own doing. 1 Corinthians 12: 3 says "No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit." John's baptism was a baptism of repentance while Jesus baptizes us today with the Holy Spirit. Matthew 3: 11 says. "I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I...He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire." We do not decide to follow Jesus on our own and then the Holy Spirit comes to us because that would be on the basis of works and our own doing. "We are saved by grace through faith and this is not of our own doing, it is a gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2: 8-9. Baptism gives us the blessings of forgiveness of sins, life and the Holy Spirit. "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of you sins and you will receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2: 38. Baptism does give us eternal life. Mark 16: 16 says "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." Baptism is necessary for salvation. It's absence does not condemn, but the rejection of it does. Titus 3: 5-7 say, "He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal [Baptism] by the Holy Spirit whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior so that having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life." Baptism is not a work we do, but it is the Holy Spirit's work in us. Through Baptism, we have the reassurance that we are saved and therefore know that it is not of our own doing. 🙂

What is the point of being born to a Christian? New age would say its to experience life, and through hardships your awareness grows until you realize the golden rule. They would say Christianity is humans trying to put these concepts into simple stories so we can understand it and the goal is to be christ like so we can move up into the heavenly rhelms of awareness. I disagree that new age means do whatever you want. Another question. What happens to souls throughout human history long before 2000 years ago? What happens to people in other countries that are or were never taught Christianity, but were taught about loving awareness? Do Christians believe the earth is flat? Or do they have concepts and rules having to do with jesus for life outside of earth if its a planet? How does one accept christianity without battling the thought that out of no control of our own, we are placed into suffering on earth And if we do not accept rules that connect less dots than new age, we will continue to suffer for eternity. How to we deal with the feeling that that itself feels manipulative and controlling? These are my thoughts having been raised christian but through exploration see a deeper truth that religions do their best attempt to describe. I know the ruling class and evil people are freemasons and use new age principles but ive always seen that as using knowledge for evil instead of freedom and connection. How can we exist in heaven? If it doesnt have the kaws of nature with sight sound etc, we wouldnt be humans anymore, so what are we wven doing there? Unless everything is energy and by having an energy closer to christ allows our soul to reconnect after death and allows for less suffering while we're here? This is hard through text. Much easier to get my questions across with a one on one conversation in person. So many pastors might not understand these concepts well enough to make sense of it enough to convert someone who does. Keep in mind ive prayed to jesus for this to be made clear but the more i do that the more scrambled my mind becomes with two cometeing philosophies. I just want him to make it clear and that is what i ask for. Not feeling any different is when i sway back to my previous beliefs, through a lack of feeling heard, lack of signs, and lack of fullness. Im obviously here because i want to know lol so please dont hate.

I Love jeshua. He is My saviour,... But this " Trinitything" is Always confusing For me .. For me Jesus /yeshua ist the son of god in flesh, my, Lord and saviour. G'd the father, lay down heaven and earth to his feet, but i don't think - He is G'D, hashem, The creator of The World... He is The word of G'D in flesh... After you know Jesus Christ is the messiah through one's devotion and love of God metaphysical, occult things happen. Christians who never had such experiences do demonize such experiences. A large problem with new age is the personal relationship with Jesus appears to be not so important. Comparing Jesus to another enlightened one is a vacuum not understood. That type of evil is subtler than let's say corruption in politics.

I don’t think it has to be anti christ in any way to believe in life other then ours. You are not god how can we know. And it’s definitely possible I mean the Bible talks about angels having sex and baring children with the woman of men and giants and you think there can’t be life on another planet.....Also some people are new age but believe in Christ and angels. Instead of prana or chi it’s the Holy Spirit. Instead of spirit guides it’s your guardian angel. It’s about being in a state of love as god is love and radical acceptance. Not once did I denounce god but rather I actually live more in a state of consistent gratitude to god. While mediating and co creating my life with the law of attraction. When they say have faith like a mustard seed and you can literally move a mountain that’s the Bible letting you know how to manifest and pray. Letting you know the power of the Holy Spirit within you. You can’t believe In god if you do not see yourself as one because we are made completely in his image. It also says Jesus came down as man to teach us by his example what man should and can be. To show us the power of the mind... the miracles that happened to him as well as the ones he performed because of his full faith in god and the universe while doing it out of love is also a metaphor to our own power. BUT REMEMBER It’s CO CREATING WITH GOD!!!!! No where do we denounce God but instead live in a beautiful partnership with God. It just has a little more love and less fear then what formalized Christianity tends to prescribe too. And also let’s remember there are abusers on every side of belief. Let’s not isolate people because every side has seeds abusing or corrupting the belief but truly if you are practicing new age beliefs you are trying to stay in a place of acceptance and love and kindness. Removing negativity from your life and always walking in truth and understanding we are all one. That literally isn’t satanic at all. Remember that hell is truly the absence of god and god is love. I stay in a state of love towards even the people who wrong me and thank god daily thanks too new age practices. Thanks to new age practices Ive stopped judging people completely and when I do I’ve learned to stop myself quickly thanks to higher consciousness and the Bible says do not judge and you shall not be judged. If you (who isn’t my judge) think I’m living in sin some how that’s really confusing just because I grew up in a very strict Orthodox Church and I can confidently say I’ve met more non judgmental, kind, loving new age Christians that are in control of their own miracles then the many churches I’ve went too. Soo many Catholics that don’t even show up to church accept on Easter.... new age Christians can’t escape there consistent love for god because it is a lifestyle. The Holy Spirit is a real energy we can tap into and that’s not a sin. If your are doing something out of greed hate or lust or negative energy then new age also believes you will get it back and will ultimately we punished and that you also won’t be able to ascend to heaven.... you don’t have to renounce one and live without the other. You may not be ready to hear this either but if you look at the gospel of Thomas that is being reviewed by the churches right now as we speak. This is part of the Red Sea scrolls that date even some older then the Bible closer to the time of Christ. It’s the one part that if it was left in the Bible it would have connected the beliefs. It speaks of praying to god and “ask and ye shall receive” but it also says how to ask by saying when thought and emotion become one and having faith that it is already done. The religion is not what I’m against but remember that the Bible that is used today was highly edited and took about 100 years to make and create the church which ofcourse needed power and money and structure and was made by man. Once again not saying the religion is wrong or text is wrong but that it wasn’t Jesus who read this first and gave it the okay. New age just encourages for you to look to the simple truths of all religion and the simple truth about the universe which is love kindness and a universal oneness... and if that’s my intention I really don’t think I’m burning in hell but then again I no longer live in fear of a god that will smite me one day but a god that loves me. And new age does not mean you can live in sin it’s the exact opposite. New age isn’t even new because Buddhist Hindu and Christian monks have practiced this for ages....... The Bible tells you what Satan is and Satan would hate how much sin I’ve said no to with my new age beliefs. Sexual transmutation of energy literally staying celibate and using that energy for things that better you is one of then first things you learn about. Most people even are against all drugs including marijuana because we don’t need a high from anything. Literally mediation and prayer puts us in a state of zen we don’t need a drug... you were hanging out with specific new new new new agers who clearly haven’t fully learned much.
