It’s the 100th episode of the Regenerative Agriculture Podcast! In this special episode, AEA grower James Johnson interviews the voice behind the podcast, John Kempf.
James Johnson is a fourth-generation farmer in New Mexico and the Vice President of Carzalia Valley Produce. When James finally took over the family farm in the early 2000s, the outlook of his operation seemed grim. After many years of trial and error with various farming practices, James met the Advancing Eco Agriculture team and discovered the many benefits of regenerative agriculture. John Kempf is the founder of Advancing Eco Agriculture. A top expert in biological and regenerative farming, John founded AEA in 2006 to help fellow farmers by providing the education, tools, and strategies that will have a global effect on the food supply and those who grow it.
Through intense study and the knowledge gleaned from many industry leaders, John is building a comprehensive systems-based approach to plant nutrition - a system solidly based on the sciences of plant physiology, mineral nutrition, and soil microbiology. In this episode, James and John discuss:
The importance of nutritional and microbiome integrity for plant immunity
How John started and built Advancing Eco Agriculture
The importance of sap analysis to see product efficacy
How growers who work with AEA reduce inputs
John’s development of the Plant Health Pyramid
Plant health vs soil health
The future of Advancing Eco Agriculture

Recently came across a few of your interviews. I found them inspiring. Do you have a list of the books that assisted in your agricultural education?

Interesting how sulfur is something that stops the genetic mutations for the stop coding proteins, maybe similar in humans with vegetables that are high sulfur and anti cancer like broccoli sprouts sulfurophane, also paying homage to buofumigating crops like mustards that have isothiocyantes with sulfur in a potentially more bioavailbe in the soil to help keep the genetic codes from mutating and completes them more healthily

Golden rule because it's a wonderful way to live and the resulting society is glorious. Extend it by moving past the anthropomorphic? Sounds like more opportunities for kindness, caring and curiosity.

It’s a very humbling and fulfilling experience “getting right” with someone who has offended you or been offended by you. I personally believe we are our brothers keeper and it’s our responsibility to look out for each other and keeping our hearts clean is essential. Thanks for sharing the wisdom God has blessed yall with I know he’ll continue to add because of the open hand theory!!🙏🫶🍄🦠🥰
