The best thing about your videos is that not one second is wasted. Every word is important - either because you are showing us your crafting or because you are sharing your family and friends or because you are giving us useful tips for coping with today's stressful world, and so much more. You and Pete are just lovely people and I am very fond of you. I make notes as I watch. I wanted to say that the sweater in the Mon Tricot from 1978 is absolutely just as "in" now as it was then. In some ways I think the designs for men tend to stay in fashion and be less trendy than many of those for women. Makes sense. If a man has a favorite sweater (jumper sounds better but I am in Iowa) he will want to wear it and not be told it is out of style. Your Holly Hobbie embroideries are just my sort of thing. I love HH. Pete is looking well. When you filmed him out in the sun he had a lovely color. You are so right that crafting is good for the mind and the general well-being of a person. I would crochet all day long if I did not have to so some chores. I'm running on. Thank you for continuing to make videos.

G’day Penne, I’ve been wanting to ask the name of your introductory music, sure it would have one. Hope that doesn’t sound daft, maybe 😂. Right from your very first episode when I first heard it I had an instant reaction bringing a wonderful sense of joy and warmth and tears well up inside. Not sad tears at all I’m not sure how to describe it but I now know it’s going to happen and wait for it, funny I suppose but this has happened every time. Anyway I’d appreciate it if you could let me know Penne. Take good care you and Pete 🍀🍀🍀🇦🇺

I agree with you totally about the benefits of crafting, and we are so fortunate to have these hobbies that really enrich our lives as well as bringing comfort when we need it. I was so surprised when you showed the Holly Hobby designs that you had embroidered, I stitched the exact same ones many years ago. I gave them to my sister who framed them for her daughters, and they were hanging in their room for some time. I love the cardigan that you are wearing, I have just finished a jumper which has turned out to be a complete disaster and is now living in my attic until I can stand to look at it again. How nice to see Pete. So funny to hear you when he's out in the garden. Don't look!😀 The fabric panel that you embroidered was the perfect image, just begging to be stitched. I had a panel with cats that I always thought would be cool with embroidery and beads. In the end, it is just a lap quilt with nothing fancy. But I have been thinking of up cycling it into something else so maybe it will get its fancy stitching. That color work sweater from the '70's doesn't look dated. The shape is pretty timeless so I would think the color selection is what might date it. Although that picture you showed did not scream 1978, so like you said, ahead of its time. Thanks for sharing. I would make Holly Hobbi into an tote or project bag. She is gorgeous.
@penelopeschinwag7 ай бұрын
Hi, Karen, hope you are well. I was so nervous when he was in the garden! It does take time to do embellishments it's hard not to 'get it finished' and quilted. As you say you can always add to it. You're right the shape of the sweater was good and when you think of Jamieson and Smiths colours now they are all there.. timeless. I have an idea for Holly Hobby and the dresses.. mmh we'll see, in the thought process stage at the moment. Thanks for sharing.

It was so lovely to see you today. I've watched in a couple of sitting's . I enjoyed seeing what's in the pipeline. Having a plan makes things less overwhelming. I did a similar thing yesterday. Now I know what I'm up to. A few things are nearly finished. Others are long-term . First on the list is a pair of socks for Andy's birthday next week. Crafting for health and wellness is something that I'm interested in. It was recommended to me over 20 years ago by the therapy team during a stay in the hospital. I've since done a lot of my own research. Betsan Corkill is worth looking up. Crafting helps both my physical and mental health. I do have to be careful and not overdo it. Doing different crafts uses different muscles, etc. Hand stretches and taking breaks are all part of being mindful. I also wear compression gloves most of the time, not just for crafting. I almost forgot to mention the Holly hobbie embroidery's. They reminded me of one I did when still at school. It was made into a cushion with epp hexagons on the back. My mum still might have it. This afternoon, I've dropped down a Holly Hobbie rabbit hole. A project bag or cushion is running around my head. It was lovely to see Pete. I'm glad he's getting back to his old self. Hopefully, you'll be able to rest a bit easier as the weeks pass. Have an enjoyable weekend, take care. Xx
@penelopeschinwag8 ай бұрын
What wise words Angela and thanks for sharing them with me. Knowing yourself is half the battle. I'll take a look at Betsan. I agree a project bag will be lovely for Holly Hobbie. One on each side. Cushions get used in my house, squished up and I don't want that for her! In my head I've completed my tasks because I've spoken about them and they are back on the bed under 'Long term' 'Excited to start' and 'Get on with it!' It all helps keep things under control! Enjoy your week. xx

Well that sweater must be retro or vintage before it is even finished! Isn't it amazing how we stop at times when there is so little to do. There probably was a good reason. I'm sorry about the sad days. Sometimes there's only one way through and that's to wait until that eases. If possible crafting can help, something simple which is easy to concentrate on. Take care Avril. xx

Now that is a rough week. Ear infections are horrid and for someone so small even more so. So pleased you are home and best wishes from us - hoping she continues to improve and you are able to get some proper rest. xx

Hi Penn! Working away on my EPP while I watch you sort. I love your method of sorting into piles. I was brought up in the era when you had to finish one thing before moving on to another so it's sometimes hard for me to have WIPs. But you've given me permission today to have an "ongoing" pile 😊 and it sure feels good! Hope Pete is okay after mowing. ❤x

Yup Pete is feeling good today, such a relief. We have been out for lunch with daughter and son in law and it did us all good. Relaxing now and going to get some quilting done on Tommy's quilt. I'm like you, it doesn't feel right having things outstanding. Usually because of a problem but now having watched KZbin there is so much to experience and so an 'ongoing pile' is allowed. The 'Can't wait to start' pile is just that and will get to it soon. Just the 'Get to it" pile to start but to honest, now I know where I'm going with it, it feels ok.

@@penelopeschinwag Today's my day to reorganize my knitting room and family room (my fabric tends to roam and expand onto the couch and coffee table 🤭) I LUV a freshly organized room. It's very re-energizing and inspiring. Maybe that's why, when I'm having a low day, I begin cleaning. 🤔😊

That's great, nothing like feeling a bit low only to end up feeling great when things are once again organised. A bit of singing along the way helps too. xx

Just finished watching your episode...lovely! I so wish we could visit each other. I have that Scottish knits book and just last weekend flagged the same sweater as a possible future knit. Yours is beautiful! Really like the low contrast and the colors you chose. The speckles in the pink are so pretty on camera. Your Holly Hobbie stitcherys are truly lovely. Would you consider making them into cushions instead of framing them? Or perhaps they could be centerpieces of a pieced wallhanging for your great-granddaughter? (My bedroom walls were covered in Holly Hobbie wallpaper when i was 11, in 1974!) Pete is looking fine...so happy to see him again. Loved your record segment; informative, interesting, and your interactions are very sweet. 😊 You enrich my life, Peni. And also cost me! I discovered John Arbon through you. Have purchased a lot of yarn through them now. They should give you a commission! The sweater you may reknit for Pete is definitely NOT dated. It's stunning! And in John Arbons harvest colors, it would be gorgeous. I also have a wonderful collection of Acufactum fabrics because of you! There apparently are very few shopkeepers in the US who sell it. One lives 1/2 hour from me and occasionally has open studio days when we can make a reservation to shop. I went for the Tilda fabric and came away with mostly Acufactum. Thank you for sharing your amazing quilts and crafts! Wish I could invite you over for a stitch and chat afternoon. Will just have to be patient for your next episode. Can hardly wait to see the newest quilt. 😊🫶

We would have a wonderful day together I know. It lovely for me to know about the inspiration for John Arbon and Acufactum fabrics. Half an hour away is Nothing!! I thought the sweater was so on point for today, not dated at all. I'm going to ask him today if it's his thing still. I think the video of the quilt making will give you a laugh, but isn't that what crafting is all about. You've encouraged me to finish the scottish knits jacket. Hoping to tackle it soon. A lovely idea to make something for Mila with the Holly Hobby. Thanks for all your ideas. I'm leaving everything on the bed so it gets done. I'll show you as I go along. Take care xx

Such a wonderful episode Pene .I love how all of your experience of life,of work and of crafting come together in such a powerful way and I doubt you realise the full impact of what you share,because it’s just being yourself.Pete is fab talking about his favourite records and his 12 year old self.I am imagining he and his friends were like “Just William and the Outlaws” always busy and up to something.To be fair that was my childhood as well ,Mum used to scrub our knees with vim after we came in from playing we were that filthy😂

I think you hit it on the head with Just William! He has the books and loves them. Ooh having knees scrubbed with vim, I can see you now, wincing as she rubbed it in. Fun getting filthy though. thanks for sharing. xx
