I've got the primus lite Plus and the XL pot that twist on the same stove. It really is the shitznitz. Maybe not the lightness kit, but efficient and easy. Your coffee can taste coffee and your noodles can taste like noodles, and there is even a colander bowl in the XL pot. Even used it to fry bacon and eggs.

For the Pocket Rocket a nice hack is after your first Mountain house, Peak or Heathers choice meal cut up the bag to use as a wind shield or bring a 12" X 8" piece of tin foil and fold around the stove and pan to retain heat and block wind.

Just for those who are unaware...a "flint and steel" is what the name implies, a flint rock and piece of high carbon steel. The kind of striker displayed in this video is a ferrocerium rod that can throw a spark with any hard edge.

Just watched this episode and really enjoyed it, woke me up to the fact that Jetboil are not hunter friendly, although I have used one of the original jetboils for 12years without problem, but 3yrs ago I switched to a personalised kit and haven't looked back. I too carry 2-3 Light My Fire strikers at all times, always have, they are brilliant.I love watching these podcasts, they're great to fill the off season."Stay Gritty"

Enjoyed watching. Kept waiting to hear where those Kifaru wood stoves fitted in. Reckon it would have been funny to hear thoughts about the little wood gas cookers.

I've used a Optimus crux for a while and like it. The pot isn't secured to the burner is the only down side and it boils water pretty fast.

Searches “Pocket Rocket” on Google... sees “Clitoral Vibrator” as first result... Cameron Hanes must be pretty skilled at using those to start fires. Apparently my bush crafting skills are no longer up to par.

The melting point of titanium is supposed to be 3200°F, so running a jet boil that hot seems rather unlikely. Do you use and of twig woodburning stoves, like the bushbuddy, Emberlit, Firebox Nano etc?

Thumbs but a wet Bic isn't really a problem. Takes all of 5 seconds to get it working again. LMFs are great though. Subscribed the channel. Big fan of Kifaru and Aron is a good guy.

You are heating the vaporizer to make the fuel come out of the "pisser" as a vapor rather than a liquid. That's why the multi-fuel stoves need to heat up first

Has Aron ever considered a wick stove ? There's a DIY version called a fancy feast stove that's pretty simple to make with a fancy feast cat food can and a tin can and a piece of carbon felt for a wick.Rock climbers and backpackers swear by 'em cause they work in cold weather and high elevations because the wick keeps it burning and are great for melting snow.They're also sort of multi fuel friendly as well.A lot of guys use yellow bottle Heet for fuel (gas line water remover/methanol) because methanol seems to perform the best. You can check out the Hiram Cook channel to see them in action as he 's done a bunch of experiments with 'em.

What would Aron's opinion be on Military Meals ready to eat (MRE) for backpack hunting? Of course they would be field stripped for weight reduction.

+welpro21 Check out Episode 11. I think Aron talks about MRE's in that episode. - Katie

Hey Brian. Which pack does Aron or yourself recommend for the 3-4 day trips with the external frame? I have been looking at them and like the Nomad, but just want to make sure I get the right back.

A person (any of Aron's friends) could start a second hand backcountry gear store with his vast assortment of castoffs and giveaways. Fun podcast and am looking forward to the upcoming food discussion, especially the self produced backcountry cuisine.

Hey Aron does kifaru make a pack that has a separate place for your meat so u don't get blood in your bag?
@3tTeam8 жыл бұрын
The tahr has a meat shelf. Put it on the duplex frame and add a couple pockets and you have a hell of a pack with a meat shelf

Why that alcohol stow is any problem that if boodle may leak. Then it is survival and you just take wood offered by nature. Wolaa. I have trangia and mini trangia. Those are for make porage and coffey. Otherwise i eat sossage, salami and dark bread on woods. In Finland we mostly use open fire to cook and those trangias work on that too. Lot or woods and premade fire places all ower. But most hunts in these parts are day or half day so you need only water to go.
