I’m so glad I found this podcast! Thank you for introducing yourselves. I look forward to catching and watching more in the future.😊 I’m near Boston, Massachusetts, in the Northeast US. There are always new things that catch my attention but I try to buy yarn for a specific project. There’s more than enough random skeins in my stash as it is.

Well hallo from NZ! I hope you don’t find our accents to difficult to understand 😂 I am going to try to only buy yarn to make a specific thing once I get through my stash next year! -Bebe

Tablets of soap are excellent and cheaper than lavendar bags. Can halve the tablets as well. As you say the smell/scent puts them off. Never had a problem over many many years.

That is such a great idea, thanks Lynn!

Yours is one of my favourite podcasts. As for my knitting, this year I've been bitten by the Shetland lace bug. My plans for future projects are quite vague until I decide it's time to cast on, so I don't have a set queue, really.

Wow, thank you! I am so keen to knit up something in our lace yarn from Shetland, but it’s a bit daunting! I am thinking I will start with something small just to try it out. -Bebe

@justanotherknittingpodcast I bought a few books and knit lots of swatches before I jumped into a project. Can recommend.

Hi thank you for another interesting podcast. I had a cottage business in South Africa. We used to do scroll saw/fretwork sawing, before laser took over, and cedar wood cut outs were good products to keep the creepy crawlies out. Many antique chests were also made of this wood. I saw some cedar wood trinkets on Amazon. Good luck.

And the added benefit is that cedar smells soooo good!

Another great podcast. I usually start the year with a list of intended knits. This year I achieved half of those plus added other things as they came along. I do six Truly Myrtle test knits each year. Our Knit Group does a MKAL twice a year. Plus gift knitting. My list of completed knits for 2024 will be around 40 ... including shawls, sweaters, socks, baby garments, toys, gnomes & wash cloths. Currently working on the Gnana Gnome MKAL & a new test knit. My maximum for WIPs is no more than four. Hope the arrival of your new grandchild goes smoothly.
So pleasant to watch and listen to you both while knitting a button band on a cardigan made out of an unspun yarn from Yukon. I would love to knit a garment with a possum blend yarn one day... ❤❤❤

I also knit and watch knitting podcasts ☺️ The possum is so soft and warm, I love wearing it. -Bebe

Thanks for sharing your background story, young mums make the best mums in my opinion. I love your planning Bebe. I'm a planner, just on a more minimalistic scale, a few things ahead, if they aren't bombarded by something that just takes my fancy. All depends on need for people and what I feel like making. Being too planned could potentially suck the joy out of it for me. I have to say I have literally 100's of favourites in bundles in Ravelry but I have zero in queue anymore because I found I never stuck to it and things just languish in there. I revisit my favourites all the time for inspiration when deciding what to cast on. I am finding that I'm changing from having a lot of garment lots in stash to enjoying matching a yarn and pattern one at a time. Slowly working through what I do have in stash. I'm with you on striping and pooling once I see it I can't unsee it. Reminding me I have some beautiful yarn to rescue from a top that will never be worn.

Lovely show. I’m a whimsical knitter. I have things planned but at the last minute have a brainwave! Also I’m very nostalgic. Give me vintage yarn that I used to knit with my mother. I collect them on Trademe and wish Mum was still here to share them with me. I also like watching Father Brown and Agatha Christie for all the fabulous cardies and then make garments that I can style in a modern way with different shaping. Don’t scare me with the moth stories 😳

Thanks a bunch for introducing yourselves and giving us context. I really enjoyed your pod. Im so jelly that you live in Christchurch and have access to Wild Earth Yarns on a whim, instantly!! Im actually heading over after Christmas to see family in Blenheim but am doing a road trip and aiming for Wild Earth Yarns on the way to Stewart Island, I hope they're open while Im passing through! Im hoping to find other wool shops along the way! OMG!!! you have knit night at WEY?!?! Lucky you!! If you're heading to Bendigo you should book accomodation soon as it is hugely popular. I can't believe you don't have any Aussies brands, but, NZ wool is pretty fantastic. While you're in Bendigo you must organise a trip to the Bendigo wool mills! I hope all goes well with the Incoming Baby.

Wild Earth has their opening hours on the website, and Instagram - if you message them they will let you know if they are open 😊 It sounds like you have a great roadie planned!

Yes moths are very good at getting into things. Dont rely on them not squeezing through the gaps in your storage unit. They will eat through a plastic bag.

I am beginning to think moths are scary little critters!

Bebe have you tried alternating skeins of yarn to avoid the stripes and pooling? I always do with indy/variegated dyed yarn and get a more consistent colour, even if the yarn is a visibly different shading. I change the balls on the side so it is not obvious. When you get the top up yarn from Miss Babas you could undo some of your body and do this to blend the two shades together.

I just gave it a try for the first time with Tolsta and it did help a lot! I will for sure do it again.

Bebe, we’ve got being a teenage mom in common too. I was a mother at 19 and then at 25. I just turned 60 and my son is 40 and a half ish I guess. I too have enjoyed being a young mom. 🥰. I met my2nd husband in 2009 and we married in 2010!
@justanotherknittingpodcast5 күн бұрын
Oh wow, how cool is that! There are definite advantages to being a young mum ☺️ I was also a young nana - my grandson was born on my 36th birthday and we are very close.

p.s. Sorry--that's $85NZ/kilogram of yarn. You can call ahead to see what they have at the moment as they process different yarns at different times.
