He laughed about the sailing mistake. Said he was going to delete it. Glad he didn’t. I don’t know how to sail. And all this perfection on youtube scares me. This gave me hope. Love your episodes. Keep them coming.

That’s a good way to tear up your ac units. There is a very good reason it requires more power on start up and why there are capacitors on those units.

Hi Jamie, Dometic actually sells them and recommends them. I never had a problem and its been 4 years. Yikes! Randy

Randy and Lennie you make a great couple. Did I see a video that mentions your anniversary? I'm glad you included the footage of the problems you had with the jibe. It shows that you are still figuring things out as cat owners. I'm a new sailor. My husband and I took our courses at Tortola's Moorings school in 2016. Then we chartered a monohull and sailed for a week. Really helped me work with my husband as a team. Hugs from Dallas.

HI Sittin Pretty, Yes episode 8 was the anniversary gift I gave to Lennie (the song) and we appreciate your comments about being a good team. We always work together and never never yell. Sounds like more sailing in your future. Randy
@sittinpretty74457 жыл бұрын
Definitely more sailing in the future. We have been trying to figure out how to spend more time on the water without completely abandoning our jobs. You have inspired us to think outside the box and are considering doing something like you do. Maybe 6 weeks work alternating with 2 weeks sailing. Until we saw how you do it, the idea never occurred to us. We intend to purchase our blue water cruiser by the end of the year.

i know i am late viewing this, but thank you. What drew me was St Maarten. I have been there 4 times and love it. Owning a boat appears routine intensive (like my house) but the rewards are many. I also learned about sailing with a gun which is something I wondered about. Thanks

Hi Alexander and thanks for watching. Lots more coming. We love St Maarten too. Just spent a week on land and toured around everywhere. Yes boats are maintenance intensive much more than a house. Randy

Another great vid! Me and the wife love your videos. You have convinced us to look harder at the Leopard than the Fountaine. Hope to see you guys someday on the sea! Also curious what you do for a living or if you guys retired?
@SailingSVHappyTogether8 жыл бұрын
Hi Dr Dank, Glad you like the video. Lots more to come. We just finished a 250 mile trip from Saint Martin to Saint Lucia and did lots of sailing. Those videos will be out in a few weeks. Glad you are seeing the leopard qualities like we have. Lennie is a General Contractor who builds high end custom homes and I am a flooring contractor. Neither of us is retired and we have found a way to travel once a month to the boat and do this adventuring. Randy

great VIDs, following you all the way. Your channel is educational, and fun as well. Question, do you mind sharing the smart start device details? I own a power cabin cruiser but my A/C draws too much power while starting. BTW: in the future I'm planning to get a CAT, just because of you ! ...lol Muchas gracias, feliz viaje a los dos
@SailingSVHappyTogether8 жыл бұрын
Hola Cenair and thanks for watching! So glad you like the videos. So the smart start is a device you can buy for about $450 US online or at a large marine store. Its very easy to install and it will save a lot of effort on your electrical system. We were power cruisers before we bought the cat as well. Start shopping. See you at a boat show! Randy

I think you figured it out to center the boom before a jibe. Also, consider furling the jib - at least to where the clew is ahead of the mast - then letting it back out after the jibe. There is just so much for the jib and sheets to get hung up on otherwise.
@SailingSVHappyTogether7 жыл бұрын
Hi Larry, Agreed. I always struggled with it. I have finally mastered tacking without catching the jib sheets. I like the idea of rolling them in a bit. So glad you are watching the videos!!! Hi to Diane for us! Randy

Great Vids, still got to work a bit on the sound (maybe and external directional mic). One thing I've yet to see on any of the Sailing Vlogs; that's general procedures for Entering and Departing port WITH ARMS. I know the procedures change from port to port however I'm sure there are some Commonalities. F.W.F.S.

+daverjax Hi Daverjax, Thanks for watching. I just upgraded to final cut pro X so I may be able to fix the sound issue a bit. I am thinking about an external microphone as well. Randy

Beautiful videos and superb boat. Damage, machine translation on KZbin does not work. I'm not good enough in English. 2 years ago, I made a transatlantic on 24 feet monohull. I hope to go back on my 41 feet monohull, or 48 Leopard if money falls from the sky. Hello from France.
