In my opinion, Raika's fight with Michiru sort of parallels YuYu's 1st fight with Raika. Both of them(Raika in this fight and YuYu in S1) were playing to try and get their point across, and fought their hardest, but ended up losing(regardless of their feelings).

Early fun fact(Spoiler): In the final turn guard, Raika made a huge misplay that can't be argued by saying we have hindsight... Raika guarded against Drajewled's (critical at 2) attacks while he was at 3 damage. He shouldn't have, and this isn't a hindsight thing (like most 'misplays' people point out). The only reason to guard the attack was the risk of sacking a critical trigger, but his shield was so weak (literally 1001 points stronger) that a single trigger would have been enough to break said guard. Admittedly, I don't know exactly how much power Michiru's rear guards would have when boosted, but as Kai would say, it's better to take the hit and hope for triggers (to increase your power earlier in the turn) than use most of your hand to defend against a high-power attack (especially since he wasn't going to lose unless a crit was sacked, which either way would have broken the guard). Considering that he used three 15,000 shield cards, it would have been better to save them for the rear guards since he can defend. He has a 45,000+ shield since his last card is likely not a sentinel... and regardless, had the trigger been a crit, he still would have lost. He would've still lost since not only would his hand be 0 at the start of his turn, and Michiru has 5 (8 cards thanks to the Twin Drive and draw trigger), so he wouldn't be able to break through... If anyone actually read all this, thank you for reading...

The thing you over look is he could of been facing down a triple crit when he could of guarded it and most likely just took 2 one damage hits
@shmarfle47 Жыл бұрын
@@Kingofknights1401 That doesn’t matter. A no guard would have been the correct option. Michiru attacked with 41k and Raika guarded with 45k. If Michiru checked any trigger, Raika just wasted three cards guarding. And if it was a crit he would’ve lost regardless if he guarded or not. If that’s the case it’s better to go for a potential damage trigger and keep cards in hand for next turn.

@@Kingofknights1401 If you read the original comment, I mentioned the fact that a single trigger could have broken through. Even if Michi drew a crit, Raika could have given it to a rear guard, still making it 3 damage even if Raika used a sentinel to guard. Raika's guard relied solely on Michi not drawing a single trigger. I even pointed out how Raika wouldn't lose unless he got a crit, which would still break the guard. It would have been the most optimal play to "no guard" since it could have increased Raika's power to face the rear guards. Additionally, if Raika got draw triggers, he would have more guard ammunition, so to speak. And if he got the over trigger, he could negate 1 damage. Unless Michi got his own over trigger, he wouldn't be able to hit or even attack Raika. And even if Michi got his over trigger, Michi would still have an additional crit permanently. So Raika would still have to rely on an over or heal trigger

The rears are 2 Skull Chemdas : One is on a DT marker (+5) and boosted by Falcate (+8), for 33k because we are in persona ride status. One is boosted by Brainwash (+8), said Brainwash having seen 2 SoulCharges from non-Masques Jeweled (+10) so it's 38k. In other words, no guarding the Vanguard is just not optimal and is a play that relies not just on your opponent not being lucky, you have to be lucky as well ; Raika can just block one of the 3 attacks by throwing his three 15k no matter how we look at it, so it's just logic to try stop the one that would give him 2 damages, because even with one defensive and Michiru having no offensive trigger, he would not be able to guard both the remaining 2 attacks anyways. Guarding the Vanguard from the get-go reduces the amont of luck you're required to get to get out of this situation.

@@slyoko First off, thank you for actually getting the numbers. It makes these kinds of discussions way easier. Second, that's kinda the point. Raika can only guard one attack unless his last card is a sentinel, which is unlikely. Even if his last card was a regular card to guard with, it all depends on how many triggers Michiru can get and whether there will be a critical trigger. If Raika guarded with all four cards, he could have survived, but there was still a chance for a critical. The point we tried to make is that he could have had a better chance. If we remove our knowledge of the triggers that both players got and assume Raika guards the exact same way, if Michiru gets any trigger, Raika will take 2 damage, repeating what happened in the anime. But if Raika doesn't guard, he has a chance of getting 2 triggers, meaning he could have a 10k - 20k(+1) vanguard, in addition to his 45k MINIMUM shield (assuming his last card is unknown) or the Over trigger. Regardless of what he did, he would have lost either on this turn or the next due to not having a decent offense or a good defense to survive the following turn. Unfortunately, we can't see all the cards (D series in a nutshell), but Michiru's deck at the point of the final turn was at 20, potentially even 19 since he called Skull Chemdah. However, adding another Hydra seems unlikely, and there are 5 triggers left in his deck. It's nearly impossible for none of the remaining 11 cards to be in his hand or soul, but my point is that he had a high chance for a trigger. Again, he would have lost regardless unless Michiru decided to no guard or not use a sentinel when at 5 damage. You are not entirely wrong, but it's a scenario where he either lost "honorably" or struggled in a fight he should have realized he already lost since, even if he didn't get the triggers he needed, he would still lose.

Even tho its not a reverse card, man, i feel hurt seeing Esperaridea was used like that. When Valiente and Bram Vairina standing side by side, its so cool. Then Esperaridea appear in front of Gripho with evil looking, knowing it was YuYu's, well we can say strongest card and lore wise Vairina's strongest form. Its sad to see Trickstar/Nirvana got defeated by Esperaridea. Looking forward at the lore of this scene/moment
