Playing "Yarn Chicken" had me snorting coffee out my nose. Never heard it put like that but it is the most accurate description of the stomach knotting tension of looking at the yarn left in the yarn bowl and looking at the rows left to knit.

"Like a hug from Mommy," awww...that's so cute and sweet. They are very lucky to have a beautiful, talented momma who knits and bakes for them. Would love to see separate episodes on the sweater patterns you've knitted many times - Ranunculus and that Amy S pattern you love. It would so cool to see the changes in each one.

I made gift bags when my children were small. We stopped using disposable wrapping paper, which I thought was so wasteful and bad for the environment. There are a lot of holiday fabrics out there, and I created bags with a casing at the top, with buttonholes on the outside. I threaded wide satin ribbon through the casing. You just put the gift inside, pull the ribbon tight, slide a gift tag on it, and tie a bow. In years where something that was larger or smaller than a typical gift, I added some specialty-sized bags. It makes wrapping easier, and looks festive under the tree!

Yay!!!! So exciting that you did the 5K! I have one under my belt, too, and quickly decided that running is not my jam - hiking is more my speed! I would LOVE to see a Half and Half round up, as well as All the Rannunculi. I am finding that at this season of my life, I enjoy/need the repetitiveness of "plain" knitting. The Half and Half was never on my radar until now... I am so glad I found your channel. You are wonderful company and I enjoy all of your content. ❤

I’m with you on the not wanting to interface with people but having to. I work in public education so all I do is deal with people who are upset about something and I have to be friendly and understanding when there are days when I just want to be by myself. And this year we moved so I don’t have my usual cohort of people to decompress with but we will get through to brighter (and longer) days. Hugs to you.

Okay, so I've been thinking about this glasses are necessary/wind is the worst dilemna. 2 things I want to try: One, I want to try and see if my hat's fabric allow for the temples of my glasses to go through the stitches on the edge that I fold over so they'll still be on my face, but in between the layers of my hat. Two, if the fabric wouldn't allow for it, thinking of adding a little eyelet in the appropriate places where it would be folded in order to accommodate for them. I still haven't done it, but I hope to soon!
@EdibleThoughtsMakes Жыл бұрын
Were you and I having this discussion last year or maybe beginning of this year??? I feel like I'm having a deja vu moment.... I have definitely considered the idea but then I will most likely forget when I take my hat off and then my glasses will go flying!!! LOL
@KnittingThrough Жыл бұрын
@EdibleThoughtsMakes Probably! It keeps rolling around my head and I've yet to try it. And the flying glasses is a real side effect I had not considered. 😆

Hello Stephanie. I am a new subscriber who came across your channel accidentally, and I love your content. Could you provide me with the details of the cording that you used for your project bags and where you purchased it. I started making a few of my own . Thank you for the joy you bring me when I see your edible and makes. Enjoy the holiday season.
@EdibleThoughtsMakes Жыл бұрын
Welcome! Look for braided or macramé cording. I find the ones that just are a twist come apart too easily for my preference so I like the braided ones. They come in different thicknesses as well so you'll have to see what works best for you! A craft store near you may carry it otherwise you can check on Etsy or Amazon. Happy making!

I'll be checking out a few of those books you mentioned. I am same, I don't finish books that don't grab me immediately, also don't finish books that have any ick factor - by that I mean, there is a cozy mystery author that I seem to forgot time and time again writes about one of the main characters in unnecessarily fat shaming ways, so I finally wrote that on my book tracking page, so that I just won't waste time reading those books any longer. Others for similar reasons, there is subtle (I struggle to write that, what is "subtle") racism, sexism, homophobia - there are so many books on my TBR list, I can just skip all of the ones written by authors who struggle with equality and kindness. Favorite authors I've been reading the works of lately....Ashley Poston and Victoria Thompson. I really need to work through some of my fabric stash - I do have a goal to make all the advent bags I need for next year's round of swaps that I do. So, 75+ bags - Though the last 25 I made were just simple two seams (top was selvedge, one side a fold, sew bottom and other side - french seams), and a bit of twine to tie the tops. These will be mostly drawstring closure, though I do have quite a stash of zippers, so I hope to use them up - maybe 25 of them will be zippered bags.

Love your Half - Half + Half wrap! Just have to share that I never thought I’d ever knit one BUT I started a striped version, currently I’m probably halfway through the second half AND I have plans to make the two color version next year. So yes indeed I ended up really enjoying the whole process and easy comfort of knitting the Half + Half. I would love to see you do episodes on your Half + Half wraps and on your Ranunculus sweaters.
@EdibleThoughtsMakes Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! OoOoo the striped one looks lovely - what colors are you using? I will definitely do a Half+Half and a Ranunculus round-up! Thanks for your enthusiasm!
@yesimthatlisa Жыл бұрын
@EdibleThoughtsMakes I'm not following the "striping" pattern exactly and went with what was more visually appealing to me as I worked on it. I had some random yarns in my stash that worked together - cream tweed, dark green tweed, two smaller leftovers in dark teal that are so close to look the same and two Malabrigo highly-speckled sock skeins in Parade and Disfraz. I'm really loving how this is turning out, it's going to be such a good size after blocking that I plan to use it as a throw as well as a wrap around the house and also during our tv/movie watching times.

Hi Stephanie: Great podcast, as usual. I knit a lot of hats from stockinette to cables, snug and not snug, extra long, etc. I even knit the musselburgh with como wool from Harrisville Designs hoping to eliminate the hat hiking up and exposing a little of the ear problem. I unfortunately wear glasses and have to walk three hours to buy groceries. I have to keep adjusting the hat it is fully covering the ear constantly. I find it annoying to have to yank it again after walking another half block of walking? What can be done to surmount this irritating problem. Thanks for sharing, always excited to watch the beautiful and amazing projects.❤
@EdibleThoughtsMakes Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Ugh so annoying!! If everything doesn’t work, maybe earmuff things that wrap along the base of the head on the inside or outside of the hat to clamp down over the ears could help??? Take care!

Thank you so much! Since I've never followed that pattern, I don't feel like I can vouch for it (not saying it's good/bad just that I have zero experience with it) - plus then I'd have to link one more thing and... people can do their own research! Hah! Thanks for sharing though, I hope others who are interested in making something similar come across your suggestion! Take care❤️

Hi Stephanie! Love your videos and your style! Would you consider making a video about your favorite sock yarn(s)? You knit so many, I bet you have some great recommendations. Just wondering if you have thoughts on certain brands, SW vs non-SW, nylon or no nylon, etc?
@EdibleThoughtsMakes11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! I'll consider it but not sure I have much to offer.... I generally prefer superwash for the machine-washability (I'll link to my sock washing vid in case you haven't seen it), nylon content for durability, and generally higher twist also for durability. Patons Kroy, Regia, Opal, West Yorkshire Spinners are pretty much indestructible and great for gift-knitting (not for specifically only for gifts but just that they don't need special treatment and are hard-wearing). That sums it up! If I think there's more to say, I'll consider a short episode. Take care!
I guess my vid on washing handknit socks might not be as relevant to your question as I thought in my head....sorry lol.
